Chapter 56 - Chain Lightning

The Hero Tavern refreshes every 7 days, and two heroes appear every Monday: one native hero and one foreign hero.

First was the hero of the Undead Race. This time, a Death Knight named Charna appeared. Its specialty was Wraiths, and its starting skills were Necromancy and Tactics.

It came with Magic Divine Arrow, and three random stacks of troops: one stack of Skeletons and two stacks of Wraiths.

Several Undead Race heroes had appeared before, but Rhodes had not chosen to hire them because, currently, one Straker was enough, and Rhodes had to conserve resources for future cities.

If this hero had appeared when he first transmigrated, Rhodes definitely would have bought him, but now that he had Straker, there was no need.

Rhodes turned his attention to the next option, and this option filled him with immense surprise, because the hero who appeared was none other than the famous Solmyr.

As the saying goes, people who like playing the Tower faction do so because of Titan and Solmyr, who each account for half the appeal. If those two were gone and only a traitorous mage remained, who would want to play Tower?

Solmyr, Tower faction hero, Race: Genie. Initial Attributes: Attack 0, Defense 0, Power 2, Knowledge 3.

His background is the story setting.

Solmyr was imprisoned in an enchanted bottle for over a thousand years. He was incredibly grateful to the person who released him and swore to serve him forever. Perhaps it was fate, but that person was Magnus, the immortal ruler of the Bracada Highlands.

This hero is extremely powerful, specializing in Wisdom Spell and Sorcery. One allows him to inherently learn Level 3 spells, and the other increases spell power.

Solmyr's strength is formidable. It can be said that if he is available as a starting hero, he is absolutely mandatory, a super powerful main hero who can be used from beginning to end.

Solmyr's specialty is Chain Lightning. This spell is already powerful in the hands of other heroes, but in Solmyr's hands, it is simply terrifying.

Many players might think spells like Armageddon or Thunder Bolt are amazing, but for veterans, the truly favored spell is definitely Chain Lightning.

This spell deals extremely high damage. Chain Lightning is an Air Magic, Level 4 damage spell.

Without skills, it costs 24 Mana points to strike 4 enemy units, with damage halved for each subsequent target, dealing (Power x 40) + 25 damage to the first target.

With Basic Air Magic, the Mana cost is reduced by 4 points, requiring only 20 Mana to cast.

Intermediate Air Magic deals (Power x 40) + 50 damage, and Advanced Air Magic deals (Power x 40) + 100 damage.

These are the bonuses for regular heroes, but Solmyr has additional boosts: his innate specialty bonus plus his sorcery bonus. In his initial state, one Chain Lightning strike can deal over 110 points of damage.

Since Rhodes currently possesses an Astrological Chart that grants +1 Power, Solmyr's damage can soar above 150 points, and the subsequent three targets, though halved sequentially, still suffer terrifying damage.

Moreover, Solmyr is a Genie. After he comes out, he can join Rhodes' other four Genies. They are all magical constructs sent by Titan for support. This is simply too satisfying!

Without any hesitation, Rhodes immediately pulled out 2,500 units of gold and hired Solmyr.

After doing without Lamb, a golden lamp appeared in Rhodes' hand. Rhodes gently polished the bottle, and a blue elemental creature over 3 meters tall emerged from the spout.

"Great Master, I was sealed for 1,000 years. I swore that whoever released me, I would serve for life," Solmyr said, bowing to Rhodes after appearing.

This entrance reminded Rhodes of Aladdin's lamp, and on a whim, Rhodes asked,

"Magic Lamp, can you grant me three wishes?"

"??? I apologize, Master, I cannot grant wishes. I can only serve you," Solmyr said, somewhat speechless. He explained that he was merely sealed inside and had no wish-granting abilities; if he did, he would have escaped long ago.

"Ahem! It's nothing, I was just asking casually. Welcome aboard, Solmyr.

I have another subordinate named Straker, who is a Death Knight. I hope you two get along well in the future.

Later, I'll have him take you for a spin outside the city. First, go learn the healing magic at the Elementary Magic Temple outside, and then use the other Astrological Chart to increase your Power," Rhodes said, waving his hand.

"As you command, Great Master. It is my honor to serve you," the Genie spirit Solmyr said, bowing to Rhodes.

Rhodes nodded and discussed Solmyr's situation further, then exited the hero interface.

With Solmyr joining, Rhodes now essentially had a super ultimate Archmage. Currently, those who could withstand a single Chain Lightning strike from Solmyr were extremely rare.

The only pity was that Chain Lightning consumed 24 Mana points, and Solmyr only had a meager 30 Mana, meaning he could cast it once and be done.

However, it didn't matter; being able to cast it once a day was still good. As long as Solmyr stayed in the city overnight, his Mana points would fully recover the next day.

This was a benefit for system heroes, and since Rhodes carried the town with him, all heroes could enjoy this benefit at any time.

However, because there was only one city, only one unit could enjoy this Mana recovery effect daily. Initially, Rhodes thought he couldn't enjoy this benefit because he couldn't put himself inside the Hero City.

It wasn't until recently that Rhodes discovered he just needed to switch his hero portrait into the city and sleep, and his Mana would be fully restored the next day.

This was equivalent to recalling to the city. He would use it sparingly in the future, as his current magical knowledge was entirely sufficient.

Time flew by quickly, and in the blink of an eye, it was the morning of the fifth day. Today was the day of the appointment with Terenas the King.

Rhodes woke up early, and after washing up, he met Jaina Jaina. Uther was already waiting for the two of them at the door!

"Good day, Lord Uther!" Rhodes said.

Jaina also gave Uther a mage's salute.

"Hmm! No need for formalities, both of you. Come with me!

Princess Jaina, and Baron Rhodes, Terenas the King is already waiting for you at the city gate," Uther said.

"Then we'll trouble you to lead the way, Lord Uther," Rhodes said.

Uther nodded slightly and led the two of them to meet Terenas the King.

"You've arrived, Rhodes, and Jaina. Let us first head to the port of Lordaeron. I have instructed people to prepare a large amount of ore and lumber.

As for the four precious resources you mentioned, Rhodes, I have also sent people to prepare some," Terenas the King said immediately upon meeting them.

"Please take me to see them, Your Majesty!"

"Very well, let us depart now!" The group immediately set off for the dock.
