A golden light engulfed the forest and a mighty power had been endowed on the humble dark slime. The girl extended her hand and called out to the creatures of the forest. She spoke in authority and power. Her voice crackling yet motherly.
" Heed me my creation,
I present you, [ extends her hand and bows to Akuma ]
The protector of the dark forest, Akuma Night".
The forest animals roared in celebration to welcome their new governor.
Akuma upon receiving a divine name, now had the gift of conscience and interspecies communication, looking at the horde of monsters before him, dragonutes, goblins, his fellow slime, ogres and golemns, as well as several other race of monsters, he introduced himself as the protector and vowed to protect each and everyone of them as best he could. Akuma turned to the girl and refered to her as, Lilah, the great goddess of night. He thanked her but felt that she chose wrong. The Goddess simply smiled and said to him,
" I had seen a heart of purity and kindness and as such, I was excited to reward it. Now Akuma Night, grow strong and powerful to protect your people. The empire seems to want to pave it's path through this forest. Find a way to stop them and let them see reason".
Akuma turned to the goddess and accepted the task. He was ready to lay down his life, if it meant her will be done.
He had now evolved into a race of slime evolution known as, shifting slime, with the ability to take the forms of objects he interacted with. To aid Akuma in his growth to assume the role of the dark forest's Sovereign, The Goddess Lilah bestows a merit system.
Each time Akuma completed tasks with his new found power, he would gain growth points and these points would allow him to evolve.
As the Goddess of Night, Lilah was already feeling sleepy once more, ascending amidst the clouds and vanishing in plain sight. The animals soon left to their respective habitats, leaving Akuma at the mercy of his thoughts.
Akuma thought of what had happened to him, since it hadn't even been a day since his fairication occured and he was already sovereign of the dark forest.
In the dark forest, were creatures of the night, monsters and mythic creatures made by the hand of the Night Goddess Lilah.
Slimes, being the weakest among her creation, had very short lifespans. Akuma wondered whether he could live long enough to protect the forest. While in deep contemplation, a female voice rang out in his head. Akuma was startled, his gelatinous mass of a body jiggling as a result.
He called out for the voice to reveal itself, a tint of fear rooted behind the bold declaration. The voice called out to him once more.
" Master Akuma, I am your Merit System, Valkyrie. Made by the knowledge of the Night Goddess Lilah and sent to aid you in the acquisition of power in accordance to your deeds".
Akuma was now at ease, realizing the voice was in his head. Akuma threw a question to Valkyrie. He wanted to know just what his duties were as the protector of the dark forest.
Valkyrie began an explanatory course on being the dark forest's protector;
" As the dark forest's protector, you are basically the king of the entire forest, stretching an expanse of five hundred acres. On you is the mark of the Night... ... ..."
As she said this, they were nearing a flowing river. Akuma looked into the river, seeing his obsidian fire branded with a four point star that shun like it's name sake. Akuma took the time to admire his new expanded form. He knew that as a shifting slime, he had endless possibilities to grow. Valkyrie continued,
" ... ... ...Lord Akuma, you are now honor bound to protect the innocent creatures of the night as well as the innocent humans and other races, who will find themselves in the forest. You must grow strong.
Our Lady of the Night prophesied the incoming attack on the forest by the humans of the Empire of Arcanum.
Their knowledge is to be both Revered and feared. In these forests are creatures of immense power that have caused fear among humans. You must talk with them if possible and eliminate them if they leave you no option".
" I see... ..." Akuma gave a lack-luster response of understanding to Valkyrie's explanation. He asked her which creature they had to talk to first, wanting to commence his duties right away.
Valkyrie seemed hesitant at the idea of exposing him to such danger right off the bat but relented, since he was her master.
" Our first creature to visit would be the Abyss Viper: King of The Tunnel Vipers".
