"I knew this was serious," he said quietly, "but I didn't realize it was this serious. Untangling ourselves from the Bais won't be easy… especially with Mom involved." He rubbed his face. "I really regret proposing. I didn't think my feelings would change like this."
"Me too," Jin Di said, his voice uncharacteristically heavy. "But the past is done. We can't change it. All we can do is choose better in the present and build a different future."
Jin Yang didn't know why those words hit him so hard, but he chose not to question them.
They talked a little longer, finalizing details.
When the call finally ended, Jin Yang felt steadier than he had in a long time.
"I should've talked to you sooner," he admitted. "Thanks, Big Bro."
"We're brothers," Jin Di replied simply.
A faint smile appeared on Jin Yang's lips.
