Chapter 4 - Growing Curiosity

The little café smelled like warm vanilla and soft jazz music drifted in the background. Amara arrived early, her heart doing unnecessary gymnastics. She still wasn't used to this new version of her life—where people respected her, admired her, noticed her. Where Leo asked to see her.

She chose a quiet booth by the window. Sunlight filtered in and made her skin glow. She knew she looked good today—confident, polished, mysterious. Her new clothes hugged her body comfortably, not like the old, borrowed outfits she used to squeeze into.

She kept looking at the door, then he walked in Leo Adeniran looked unfairly handsome in a simple white shirt that somehow made him look like a billionaire model. His eyes scanned the room until they found her… and he smiled.

Amara felt her chest tighten.

"Wow," he said as he approached. "You look… amazing."

Amara lowered her eyes shyly. "Thank you."

Leo slid into the seat across from her. "I'm really glad you came."

She nodded. "Me too."

There was a soft silence—comfortable, strangely intimate.

Then the waiter approached.

Before Amara could open her mouth, two girls nearby squealed loudly.

"Babe, guess what? I just got a brand new iPhone 17 Pro Max yesterday! My brother brought it from London!"

DING.

Amara inhaled sharply.

Reward Received: iPhone 17 Pro Max

A new phone materialized in her bag with a soft vibration.

Leo tilted his head.

"Did you… hear something?"

"No," Amara said quickly, her cheeks warming.

Then another voice—

"I swear, my boyfriend rented the whole Island wing for my birthday. Money is not the problem."

DING.

Reward Received: Island wing luxury resort package

Amara kept her smile gentle, controlled, while her heart shouted "WHAT IS HAPPENING IN THIS CAFÉ?!"

Leo stared at her again, eyes narrowed thoughtfully.

"You're… different now," he said softly.

Amara stiffened.

"Different?"

"In a good way," he added quickly. "Before, you used to walk with your head down, like you were apologizing just for existing. But now…" He smiled. "You have this confidence. This glow. It suits you."

Amara swallowed. "People change."

"I know." He leaned in slightly. "But your change feels… sudden."

Her stomach flipped, he wasn't accusing her, he wasn't suspicious, he was curious… concerned even and she liked that more than she should.

He continued. "Whatever happened… I'm glad you're happier. You deserve good things, Amara."

She blinked at him, surprised, nobody had ever told her that before not teachers, not neighbors, not classmates, but Leo said it like a truth he fully believed.

Her voice trembled as she answered.

"Thank you."

They talked for over an hour—about school, family, work, dreams. She found him easy to talk to he is gentle, honest and kind, not the unreachable golden boy she had once admired from afar.

He walked her to her car—her shiny, impossible, system-gifted car—and stared at it with genuine awe.

"This is yours?" he asked.

"Yes."

"This is… wow."

His fingers brushed the hood lightly, as if afraid it might be too perfect to touch, he looked at her again.

"You keep surprising me."

Amara smiled softly. "Maybe I'm full of surprises."

Leo chuckled. "I'm starting to think so." He hesitated, then took a small breath.

"Can I see you again?"

Amara froze.

The girl she used to be—the one who thought she wasn't enough—whispered all her old insecurities. But the new Amara—the one who had a destiny, a system, a growing confidence—lifted her head.

"Yes," she whispered. "I'd like that."

Leo smiled—warm, genuine, breathtaking.

"Good. I'll call you."

As he walked away, Amara leaned against her car, exhaling shakily, her life was truly changing, and Leo was becoming a part of that change. But deep inside her mind, the system hummed quietly… watching… waiting…

A blessing.

And a ticking mystery
