Irina's POV
Erik must have figured he'd play nice for now and find a way out later.
"Louise might be a handful, but she only made a small mistake. Let's not make a big deal of it," Erik said, forcing a smile. Then he turned to me. "But since you claim the herb is fake, why don't you prove it?"
I could practically see the wheels turning in his head - he wanted me to vouch for the herb so he could deal with the aftermath later.
"Simple enough. Take a bite and find out," I said, locking eyes with him. "Fair warning though - fake Revival Grass is deadly poison. One bite and you're dead in ten minutes. Want to bet your life on it?"
My words seemed to cast a spell, and I watched Erik's confidence waver.
I was basically telling him the only way to prove it was real was to test it himself. If he chickened out, everyone would know it was fake. But Erik wasn't about to risk his own neck.
