Eve shakes her head, her heart pinching. Of course.
The two are always and forever linked. When one goes down, the other follows.
"I am not going to let him stay here," she repeats. "Not under this roof, not when those … people are coming. I don't want my son anywhere near them."
Michael steps close to his mate and hugs her. "I know, I know, my heart. We are taking him out of here."
They tortured his son, and he has always wanted to get back at them, but Eve has always itched to avenge her son. The enmity that was there before was solid, ancestral.
The enmity between the two families right now, after all they have done and ruined, is far deeper.
