Chapter 51 - THAT'S GOOD

CHAPTER 51

William dialed Tina's number. It rang once, twice, then thrice before Tina picked up.

"Hey — William."

"I want you to take care of Kate for me. She's stressed out from overworking herself," William explained.

"What happened to Kate?"

"I thought I explained it to you just now. I don't repeat myself," he said, firmly.

"Where is she right now? Is she at the hospital or the mansion?"

"She's in her room in the mansion."

"I'll be there in minutes," she said hastily.

---

"Sir William. You called for me," Joyce said, without looking him in the eye.

"I don't like to beat around the bush, and I don't like people who are not straightforward," he said, coldly.

"What do you want me to do for you?"

"Tell me where Kate has been recently, the food she eats, the clothes she wears, and the people she meets."

"Um — Sir, I don't invade or share her privacy without her consent," Joyce said politely.

"It's her husband asking you," he spilled, coldly.

"If you want all this information, it's better—and good—if you ask her personally," she said, calmly.

"She really got herself a really protective assistant," he mumbled, looking frustrated.

"I'm only following orders."

"You can go. It's useless," he dismissed her. "What could she be keeping from me," he muttered.

---

At the mansion, Tina walked very fast into Kate's room. Some maids who saw her on the way greeted her. She just waved at them and feigned a smile.

Kate pulled herself up and rested her back on the pillow. She poured herself a glass of water and took a sip. Her body was feeling a little light and free. The door opened, and Tina walked in. Her face loosened up a bit, but Tina looked worried and sad.

Tina sighed. "W-h-a-t happened?" she asked.

"I was stressed. I think I overworked myself."

"No, don't think. You really stressed yourself."

"I'm fine. That's what matters."

"Does that little thing not need care and affection too? Think about the baby. Even if you're not on good terms with William, at least try to be on good terms with the child," Tina sighed and sat beside her on the bed.

Kate grabbed her hand and rubbed it gently. "I'm fine. I've made a decision that I'll protect the child. I won't let those wicked jerks touch a strand of his or her hair."

"But don't try this ever again. Even if you're not pregnant," Tina said and pulled her in for a hug.

"I won't."

They patted each other's backs gently. For a minute, they stayed like that, but Kate suddenly pulled away.

"How did you know I wasn't doing well?" Kate asked.

"You should have known my answer," Tina said, winking.

"Don't tell me he sent you here."

"I was in my office when he called and told me you're sick. But he's extremely cold. He didn't even repeat himself. Urgh!"

"I told you, I can't stand him. How will I even tell him about the baby?"

"Why haven't you told him?"

"I'll tell him soon."

"Make sure you tell him on time. Don't let him hear from another person."

"I'll try to look for the perfect time to tell him."

"I respect your decision, but don't keep him in the dark for too long."

Kate's phone rang. It was Joyce's number.

"It's Joyce."

"Pick it up. It could be something urgent."

"Hello, Joyce. Why'd you call?"

"It's Mr. William."

"What happened to him?"

"He called me over to ask some things."

"What did he ask from you?"

"He asked me about your personal information — about whom you meet, the clothes you wear, the food you eat, and the places you go."

"What! I can't believe this. He's now acting like a rat, sniffing through the whole room," Kate exclaimed, trying not to believe what she just heard. Tina giggled.

"But did you tell him anything?" Kate continued.

"I didn't disclose anything to him."

"That's good. You can continue what you're doing." She hung up.

She turned to Tina. "He's now sneaking up on me."

"No… He's suspecting something. He believes you're hiding something from him," Tina said, narrowing her eyes.

"He can't figure anything out yet. He won't."

"Do you think you can keep it from him forever?"

"Nine months from now, the contract will be over. He won't find out."

"But it'll reveal itself."

"Babe, don't lie to yourself. You also know that he's gonna find out, sooner or later."

Kate sighed.

"You just want everything to be the way it was before," Tina continued. "Just tell him and see his reaction. If he doesn't acknowledge it, then you move on. It's simple."

"I'll try. You're the best."

"I've got your back, always."

---

Later in the evening…

"Kate, there's something urgent at the company. I have to go."

"Hmmm, you can go. That's very much important."

"Bye. Take care of yourself and the little one."

"Hmm. Bye."

Minutes later, after Tina left, the Drays' doctor, Mr. Daniel, walked in. He headed toward Kate's room, stopped in front of the door, and knocked gently.

"Mrs. Dray, it's Mr. Daniel."

"Come in," Kate replied.

"Have you eaten? Have you taken the drugs and supplements?" Mr. Daniel asked.

"Yes. I have. Why did you come today?"

"I have to talk to you about something."

"What is it about?"

"It's about the baby and you."

"What's wrong?"

---

William parked his car in the garage. He locked it and entered the mansion. Some maids bowed slightly before him and continued their chores.

He walked toward his room but suddenly stopped and changed direction toward Kate's room. He halted and leaned against the door, eavesdropping. He heard voices coming from inside.

"You might have complications during delivery because of your weak womb," Mr. Daniel explained.

"What do I need to do?" Kate asked, worry laced in her voice.

"My advice to you is that you shouldn't stress yourself and always do pregnancy exercises. They'll improve the baby's growth and development. It will also help with a safe delivery."

"Is that all I need to know?" she asked.

"There's more. I was on my way to the hospital, but I decided to branch by your place before going home. I'll notify you about the rest when I'm free." He stood up and shook hands with her.

William's eyes widened. He couldn't believe his ears.

"So this is what she's been hiding from me all this time," he whispered under his breath. "She's carrying my child." He smirked and left before Mr. Daniel came out.

Mr. Daniel grabbed the doorknob but then stopped and turned to face her.

"Before I forget what I really came to ask you — have you told him?"

"No."

"Why?"

"I've decided to tell him myself today. I'll do it when he comes back."

"Okay. That's good to hear," he said and left.
