With these missions, I could earn CP. With CP, I could use the shop — and the gacha would unlock naturally by completing achievements.
Axel sat on the bed, mind racing at full speed. If the System had given him a Hidden Dragon Magic, maybe he could find clues about its awakening in the Shop. He activated the menu, ignoring the daylight already spilling through the window. The [SHOP] tab was a gateway to endless possibilities. The cost was always Conquest Points (CP), and he had 495 CP left.
He used the search bar, typing the keyword hammering in his mind: "DRAGON."
And the menu exploded with possibilities.
Swords forged from dragon bone, diachronic artifacts of all kinds, and even seriously dangerous items.
Dragon King Scale — CP: 3,500 [Rank SS]Grants massive physical and magical defense, and resistance to elemental attacks.
Iron Dragon Slayer Magic (1st Generation) — CP: 1,500 [Rank A]Basic Dragon Slayer magic, allows consuming iron and generating iron-based attacks.
Boosted Gear – (Longinus – DxD) — CP: 1,000 [Rank S]Artifact that doubles the user's power every 10 seconds. The dragon inside is sealed.
Dragonet Egg (Mount) — CP: 800 [Rank A]Egg of a minor dragon hatchling. Takes one year to hatch.
Tear of Chaos (Unique Item) — 50,000 CP [Rank EX]Instantly awakens any Hidden or Origin Magic. Limited to one purchase.
Axel choked — not because of the 50,000 CP Chaos Tear (which felt like a bad joke), but because of the Boosted Gear.
"A thousand CP for the Boosted Gear… the god-slaying Longinus!?" He had gone pale.
He thought artifacts of that level would be unreachable, costing hundreds of thousands of CP. The fact that it was only 505 CP away (with his current balance) and ranked merely S — not SSS or EX like the Chaos Tear — was shocking.
Why is it so 'cheap'? Axel wondered.
He clicked the item to read the detailed description:
[Boosted Gear – (Longinus – DxD)]
Cost: 1,000 CP Rank: S (Artifact)Effect: Doubles the user's physical and magical power every 10 seconds. The accumulation is limited by the body's capacity.Crucial Detail: The Celestial Dragon Ddraig is sealed inside the artifact. His consciousness and abilities — Balance Breaker and Juggernaut Drive — remain inactive until the System recognizes the user as a compatible host.Initial Purchase: Grants only the gauntlet and the Boost effect.
"Right. Ddraig is basically in a coma. So I'd only get the passive Boost…" Axel sighed. "Makes sense. A fully awake Ddraig would be worth at least 100,000 CP."
The sight of the Boosted Gear — an Origin Magic from another universe — gave Axel a crucial clue about his own condition:
Dimensional Compatibility:The System could fuse power concepts from different universes. His own Slumbering Dragon Soul was a hybrid creation that mixed his Peak Human body with Earthland's mana.
What the Slumbering Dragon Soul truly was:It wasn't Dragon Slayer Magic (which cost 1,500 CP), nor a complete Dragon Possession Magic like the Boosted Gear (1,000 CP).Its description said it was a Seed for one.
"If it's not the Magic, then it's the Affinity," Axel reasoned. "The System gave me the capability to acquire or withstand high-level Dragon Magics, but the Magic itself has to be awakened or purchased."
This meant that if he acquired the Boosted Gear, his Slumbering Dragon Soul would act as the compatibility factor that allowed his body to endure the Boost — possibly even accelerating Ddraig's awakening.
He closed the menu, heart pounding with adrenaline. He couldn't waste time. He needed CP, and the fastest ways to get it were:
Guild Missions (CP):The slow but safe method.
Epic Achievements (High CP):The fast but risky method.
He stood up, quickly dressing in his clothes. He had all the tools of a protagonist, but he needed to turn them into Conquest Points.
It was time to head downstairs to the guild.
