Chapter 29: Flames Behind Closed Doors 🔥🌙
Jay's POV
The banquet was over. The echoes of applause and whispers about my "shocking" revelation as the CEO of Crownveil still lingered in the air like smoke refusing to fade. Reporters, investors, and heirs from different empires would be talking about me for weeks, dissecting every detail of tonight — my dress, my words, my posture, even the way I breathed.
But right now… none of them mattered.
Because the only person whose eyes I couldn't escape was walking silently beside me.
Keifer.
His expression was unreadable, but his grip on my wrist as he led me out of the hall was firm, almost possessive. His silence wasn't his usual indifference — it was a storm waiting to break.
The car ride was heavy with tension. Aries and Angelo had gone ahead in a separate vehicle, Percy too, probably to give me "space." But Keifer insisted I ride with him. The way his jaw clenched while he drove made me almost smirk. Almost.
"Say it," I teased, leaning back against the seat, my emerald gown glittering under the faint light. "You've been glaring at me the entire ride like you want to kill me. Don't tell me the mighty Keifer is jealous~" 😏
His grip on the steering wheel tightened. "Jealous? I almost ripped Kaizer's throat when he smirked at you." His voice was low, dangerous. "And Yuri too. He was looking at you like—" He cut himself off, shaking his head.
I raised a brow. "Like what? Like I was untouchable? Or like I was already his?"
The car screeched to a stop in front of the villa. He turned to me, eyes blazing. "Like you weren't mine."
🔥 My heart skipped. Damn him.
"Possessive much?" I mocked, stepping out of the car gracefully. "You sound insecure."
"Insecure?" He caught my arm before I could walk away. His body pinned me against the car door, his breath hot against my ear. "No, Jay. I'm not insecure. I'm obsessed."
Before I could throw a witty comeback, his lips crashed onto mine. The kiss was brutal, claiming, but so perfectly Keifer. I gasped, biting back a moan, and then bit his lower lip hard enough to make him groan.
"Tch. You're getting cocky, mister heir," I smirked, brushing my thumb against his jaw.
"And you," he whispered darkly, pressing closer, "drive me insane."
💋 The heat between us ignited. The hallway, the door — it all blurred as he carried me inside like I weighed nothing. His lips trailed from my jaw to my neck, leaving sparks on my skin.
But I wasn't about to let him have all the power. Not me. Not Jay.
With a swift move, I pushed him back onto the couch, straddling his lap. His eyes widened slightly, then darkened again. "Playing dangerous, Jasper Jean Mariano Watson?"
I leaned down, lips brushing against his ear. "Danger is my second name."
Our kisses turned into war — rough, needy, filled with equal parts lust and defiance. Every time he tried to dominate, I flipped the script. Every time I gave in, I bit back harder. It was maddening. It was addictive.
Hours felt like seconds. The night blurred into laughter and whispers, anger melting into soft touches. His forehead pressed against mine as we finally stilled, breathless.
"Jay…" His voice cracked slightly — not from weakness, but from truth. "What if you get tired of fighting all the time? What if I'm not enough?"
For a moment, the baddass CEO in me vanished, leaving just the girl who built walls so high no one could climb them. I stared at him, heart tightening.
"You're already enough, Keifer," I admitted softly, fingers tracing his cheek. "Even when you piss me off. Even when I want to strangle you."
His lips curved into a rare, genuine smile. "Good. Because I'm not letting you go. Ever."
The sincerity hit me harder than any kiss. Damn him again.
We collapsed onto the bed eventually, tangled in sheets, tangled in each other. For the first time in years, I felt… safe.
But safety doesn't last in my world. It never does.
☀️ Morning came. Keifer was still asleep, his arm draped heavily around my waist, his hair falling across his forehead. He looked almost boyish like this — nothing like the ruthless heir everyone feared. I almost laughed. If only they could see him like this.
I carefully reached for my phone on the nightstand. A single encrypted message glowed on the screen.
"The real game starts now."
My lips curved into a slow, dangerous smirk. Whoever sent this clearly underestimated me.
I whispered under my breath, eyes glinting with fire 🔥:
"Bring it on."
