Chapter 45 - 42: Storm Before Sunrise

Chapter 42: Storm Before Sunrise 🌩️❤️

Jay's heart was still racing from the hug, her cheeks damp from happy tears. Keifer held her hand like he'd never let go again, his thumb brushing circles on her skin. For the first time in months, she felt like she wasn't drowning anymore.

"I can't believe this is real," Keifer whispered, looking at her like she was the only person in the world. "You… us… finally." 😍

Jay smiled softly. "It is real. We're real." Her voice was steady now, sure. "Whatever comes next, we'll face it together."

But even as she said it, her phone buzzed again. The same unknown number. Her stomach flipped. She unlocked it and read:

"If you don't meet me at dawn, everyone will know your secret. The acquisition. The investors. All of it. Don't be late." 😨

Jay's hands shook. Keifer saw the screen over her shoulder, his expression darkening. "Who the hell is this?"

"I don't know…" she admitted, voice trembling. "No one was supposed to know about the deal. It was locked. Confidential."

Keifer's jaw clenched. "Then someone close leaked it. This isn't random."

The words stung. Jay thought about the people in her circle—friends, business partners, even classmates. Who would dare?

The fountain's gentle sound suddenly felt louder, like an ominous drumbeat. She shoved the phone back into her coat pocket, trying to calm her breathing. "They want me at dawn. Alone."

"No." Keifer's voice was sharp, protective. "You're not going alone. We're in this together now. If they're coming for you, they're coming for us." 💪🔥

Jay looked at him, tears threatening again but from something else this time—fear mixed with gratitude. "You'd risk that? For me?"

Keifer took her face in his hands, his forehead leaning against hers. "I'm not risking anything. I'm choosing you. Always you. No matter how dark it gets." ❤️

For a heartbeat, the world went quiet. The park. The fountain. The city beyond. Just them.

Jay closed her eyes, letting his warmth sink into her. "Okay," she whispered. "We go together."

Keifer smiled, the kind of smile that could cut through any storm. "That's my girl." 😏💖

But even as he held her, Jay's mind was spinning. Someone was watching them. Someone who knew everything. And as she opened her eyes, she caught a flicker of movement—a shadow at the edge of the park.

A tall figure stood under a tree, hood pulled low, phone in hand, screen glowing. Watching. Recording.

Jay's breath caught. "Keifer…"

He turned to look, but the figure was already gone, melting into the darkness.

The clock on her phone ticked past midnight. Only a few hours until dawn. Only a few hours until everything could blow apart.

Jay gripped Keifer's hand tightly. "We need a plan," she said, her voice steel now.

Keifer nodded, his eyes blazing. "Then we'll make one. And we'll end this before it even starts."

As they walked away from the fountain, the first drops of rain began to fall—soft at first, then harder. The storm was coming. 🌧️⚡

And in the shadows, the hooded figure smiled at their retreating silhouettes. "Let the games begin," they murmured, before disappearing into the night.
