Chapter 4 - 4

Through the window, I can see the four candidates in a room similar to the one in the first MIB film.

The man is police officer Darrell James Edwards III. 'He looks just like Will Smith in the first film.'

The youngest woman is Felicia Hardy. 'She looks more like her version from the 616 universe. As far as I remember, she is currently attending Empire State University, and although we prohibit agents from contacting people from their past, we do not prohibit them from monitoring and protecting them. If it weren't for this rule, that incident would have happened in her first year.'

Then there are two red-haired women. 'Natasha and Jean physically resemble their versions from the Rivals universe, but their history and past seem to be a mixture of the 616 universe and the MCU. As for Jean, the Ancient One and I already have something prepared for her. And for Natasha, we already have a mission planned with Agent Jay, but Felicia will also have to participate in this mission since Control and her supervisor are the leaders of this mission.'

I hear the door to the exam room open, which snaps me out of my thoughts, and I see O enter with four exams.

"Good morning, ladies and gentlemen, I am your examiner for this exam. Any questions or queries will be answered at the end of the last phase of the exam. To pass this exam, you only need to give a correctly legible and logical answer to some of the exam questions."

The four of them stare at her with a look on their faces that says, 'But how many questions?' However, O ignores them, hands them the exam, and turns on the clock for one hour. "You have one hour to finish." she says.

I notice that the future agent J is having trouble writing, just like in the film, as are all the others except one person. "It seems that they have already taken exams like this many times in the red room, good for her." I comment aloud, which makes Jay smile.

I notice that Natasha suddenly freezes, staring at the exam as if there is something illogical about it.

"It seems that Miss Romanova has come across one of the special questions on the exam and it seems that she is not special enough to answer it." Lorelei comments sarcastically, but seriously.

I nod my head. "But in reality, it doesn't matter because she has passed the exam. Those questions are just to see if she has supernatural potential or not."

'I still remember when I created this exam centuries ago. I think I created a hellish exam by combining Naruto's Chūnin exam, The Magicians exam, and the awkwardness of writing from MIB 1. I wonder if I'm a bad person for being able to come up with something like that?'

"It seems that Miss Grey has also found a solution to this." Zed comments on my right.

I notice that Jean seems to be starting to write more fluently, but with greater mental effort. "She is using her telekinesis to write and is trying to hide it, which makes her work harder than necessary." I comment, concerned about her lack of control.

"If instead of trying to hide it, she did it openly, it would be easier for her." Jay comments.

"You know, mutants don't tend to be well regarded by the general public." K adds.

At one point, I notice Jean stop writing and start shaking, then turn to the next page. "It seems she has come across a special question, but the effort of telekinesis, reading the magic question and pretending is too much for her at the moment. Especially with the poor training she has received so far." After saying this, I look at the Ancient One, who is at the back of the room, and she gives me a reassuring look. 'It seems she is not going to explode over an exam.'

Suddenly, I hear a noise as if someone were dragging something very heavy. I turn around and see future Agent J and Felicia moving the table in the centre so they can write from their chairs, but they soon realise that the uncomfortable chair and the low table are not compatible, so they start writing sitting on the floor. We can't help but laugh, even Lorelei and O are trying their best to contain their laughter, one because it's not something a Lord would do and the other because it's not something a serious examiner would do.

"Well, it's one way to get through the exam, don't you think?" I turn to look at K and the Control agent under the camouflage system, as a second ago they were worried that their candidates would fail, but now they are more relaxed and calm.

"Well, I think we can finish the first part with that." After saying this, I turn and go to a button that turns off the timer, which reads 47 minutes. 'It seems that at some point Natasha and Jean joined the table when they saw that O didn't say anything to them. It's as if we were forcing adults to take a test in a kindergarten class.'

After pressing the button and turning off the timer, O walks over to the four children and says to them, "Congratulations on passing the first phase of the exam. Please leave your exams and follow me to the second and final phase."

"What-" Felicia tries to ask.

"Questions and answers after the next phase, please follow me." O replies quickly.

The five of them go into the next room. The shooting range is right next to this room.

In the observation room, we also get up from our seats and all go to the next room to watch the shooting test. Everyone except one person.

"With your permission, ladies and gentlemen, I have finished my work here, so I bid you farewell." Lorelei bids us farewell with a slight bow. To which we all respond, including a somewhat stunned Jay.

"Ladies?" She asks, but receives no answer.
