Chapter 119 - Obstacles

Currently, Mrs. Pince is unaware that three books from the restricted section have been secretly "borrowed" by someone.

Albert took this matter quite seriously. Every time he went to the library to do his homework, he would pay special attention to whether there were any reports of books being stolen from the library.

Actually, Albert was overthinking it. The books in the restricted section were all chained to the shelves, and the librarians weren't going to be idle all day checking if any books were missing from the restricted section.

After all, the chains used in the restricted book area are protected by protective magic, and ordinary students cannot open or break them. Perhaps someone might sneak into the restricted book area at night to read books, but it would be much easier to secretly take books from the restricted book area.

Compared to this matter that Albert cared about, another interesting story had already spread throughout Hogwarts.

It is said that a student once got up in the middle of the night for a night stroll and completely outmaneuvered Filch, who was on night patrol.

The administrator has been looking gloomy these past few days.

Well, most of the time, Filch has this expression on his face.

The rumor started when a student happened to pass by Filch and overheard him muttering to himself:

I whispered things like, "I'll definitely catch you, I'll hang you up and whip you..."

Based on the previous case, everyone quickly concluded that Filch had once again failed to catch the students who were out out at night in the middle of the night.

For Hogwarts students who are desperately looking for interesting topics, this is undoubtedly a fun thing.

Some students quickly filled in the blanks in their minds, making the whole Hogwarts community aware of the incident.

However, the rumors they fabricated were quite accurate.

After being bombarded with rumors, the administrator would stand in the corridor and glare fiercely at every student who passed by, trying to find the guy who had been out wandering around in the middle of the night.

Filch's ferocious appearance failed to catch the culprit, but instead terrified the younger students.

The caretaker had no idea that the culprit behind all this was currently having a snowball fight outside the castle.

George stared at the snowball suspended in mid-air and exclaimed in surprise, "You've successfully mastered the Obstacle Charm?"

"Yes, I learned it not long ago," Albert said. "This magic isn't actually that difficult."

Fred scoffed at this, and one of Albert's lies was that the magic wasn't actually that difficult.

"It's not easy to use magic to accurately hit a moving object." Li Qiaodan reached out and poked the snowball that was suspended in mid-air, turned to look at Albert, and asked curiously, "How did you develop such accuracy?"

"Be careful," Albert warned.

"Be careful of what?"

Before Li Qiaodan could even react, he was covered in snowballs.

"I warned you," Albert said, spreading his hands and explaining innocently, "Although the Barrier Charm can pause the target hit by the spell, the effect doesn't last long."

Of course, if the wizard using it harbors ill intentions, it can also repel enemies, which is related to the wizard's own magical power.

Hahaha!

The three of them couldn't help but burst into laughter when they saw this.

The next moment, George, who was still laughing, was hit squarely in the face by a snowball, and some of the snow even fell into his mouth.

George wiped the snow off his face and threw a snowball at Li Jordan.

"I dare say, not many of the freshmen know how to use the Barrier Charm." Fred threw his snowball at Albert as Lee Jordan threw a snowball at George.

Fred's sneak attack failed; the snowball was frozen in mid-air by a blue-green spark, as if someone had pressed the pause button.

"The effect is not bad." Albert reached out and pushed the snowball to the side. The next second, the snowball hit the snow next to him.

Just a quick plug: the book-reading app I've been using lately is [Mimi Reading app], which allows you to cache books and read them offline!

"You can't use magic in a snowball fight," Fred protested loudly. "You're cheating! Can't we have any fun here?"

Fred envied Albert's speed in learning magic; they were both studying the Obstacle Charm. Unfortunately, apart from Albert, none of the others had yet successfully mastered it.

There's already a lot to learn, and mastering a spell requires a significant amount of practice.

Especially in the first year, when everyone's magical power is still growing, it seems like Albert is cheating to be able to master magic so quickly.

"Alright, I won't use magic." Albert put his wand in his pocket, bent down and plucked a snowball from the thick snowdrift on the ground, then smeared it directly on Fred's face, who was about to speak.

"Let me finish," Fred protested. Then, as he spoke, he was hit by another snowball, this time thrown by Lee Jordan.

"You want to practice Obstacle Charms with snowballs?" Albert raised an eyebrow and said first, "That's a good idea."

"I..."

This time, before Fred could even speak, he was interrupted again by George, who was standing next to him, with a snowball.

"You three bastards!" Fred shouted angrily.

"Who wants to go first?" Albert asked, ignoring Fred's protest.

"He goes first." George and Lee Jordan both pointed at Fred.

"Fred, get ready." Albert bent down, made a snowball, and called to Fred, "I'm going to throw it."

"What preparations?" Fred was still a little stunned when he was hit in the face by another snowball.

"Of course it's to practice Obstacle Charms!" Albert winked. "This is a rare opportunity."

"That's right, this is a rare opportunity." Li Jordan and George nodded in agreement. "We're giving you the best chance."

"Damn it, I don't want this opportunity. Which of you is going to come out and get smashed first?" Fred glared at the three of them angrily.

"Him." The two pointed at Albert in unison.

"No, it's you, George." Fred was furious that his brother, who was on his team, was kicking him when he was down.

"Okay, I'll do it." George accepted reality readily, but then he added, "However, let's make it clear first, everyone will try ten times, and no one is allowed to dodge. They can only use obstacle charms to block the snowballs."

"I have no objection," Albert said decisively.

"Of course you have no objections..."

As expected, none of the three were able to use the Barrier Charm to block the oncoming snowballs, and they were hit by snowballs one after another. These guys especially liked to hit people in the face.

Li Jordan brushed the snow off his face, pointed at Albert, and complained, "The three of us have to go together."

"Who told you not to use the Obstacle Charm?" Albert waved his wand, easily freezing the three incoming snowballs, and moved aside, causing the snowballs to miss.

"What the hell are you guys doing?" Shanna, who was passing by, was hit by three snowballs.

"It's all Albert's fault, who told him to dodge it?" Li Qiaodan was the first to pin the blame on Albert.

"That's right, that's right," Fred and George echoed.

"Throw snowballs at them, or I'll help you," Albert offered enthusiastically.

"Ahem, Shanna, want to have a snowball fight?" Fred finally managed to smear a snowball on Albert's face when he wasn't looking.

"Albert is too cunning; he actually used magic to block snowballs during a snowball fight," George said with a straight face, spouting nonsense.

Albert couldn't help but roll his eyes at the twins and muttered, "Actually, we're practicing magic."

"What kind of magic?" Shanna asked curiously.

"Barrier Charm," Albert said without hesitation. "You bunch of bastards, you actually tried to ambush me."

"I'm giving you the opportunity to use the Barrier Charm," George argued.

"Want to practice together?" Fred invited with a smile. "This spell is quite interesting."

"No, I'm going to go ice skating on the lake." Shanna pointed to the ice skates in her hand. "I brought them from home when I went home for the last Christmas holiday."

"Roller skates?" Albert raised his wand to stop George's snowball attack, and said to Shanna, "Are you all alone?"

"Angelina and the others don't know how to play this. You know, many wizards only like Quidditch," Shanna said helplessly. "By the way, do you know how to ice skate?"

"I can. But I'm only so-so at it," Albert said casually. "I thought you didn't like sports though."

"That's very rude of you to say that," Shanna said, raising an eyebrow. "I've been playing this all Christmas break. Do you guys want to come along?"

"Is it interesting?" Fred asked curiously.

"I personally think it's quite interesting. There are also many people ice skating on the Black Lake." Shanna nodded in the direction of the Black Lake and continued.

"Let's go check it out too." George was somewhat interested in ice skating.

"You guys don't have roller skates, what are you doing going over there to join in the fun?" Albert couldn't help but roll his eyes at the three of them.

Ice skating is not easy to learn. Most beginners who want to learn on their own will fall and hurt their bottoms. Moreover, ice skates are quite dangerous and not very beginner-friendly.

"Isn't there you?" Li Qiaodan reached out and pulled Albert back. "When the time comes, you can use Transfiguration to make a pair of shoes. I believe you can definitely do it."

"It's difficult to conjure those shoes with Transfiguration," George rejected Li Jordan's idea. "You should borrow some roller skates from someone and then use the Copy Charm to get the boots for us."

Albert was stunned by what he heard; everyone around him was incredibly talented!
