"It worked!"
Seeing the effect of the Dancing Feet Spell on the Acromantula, Albert breathed a sigh of relief and continued to use the Dancing Feet Spell on the Acromantula in front of him.
Although the loss of control over two legs affected the Acromantula's movement, it still charged at Albert, attempting to tear its prey into pieces.
Albert was prepared; as the Acromantula charged him, he quickly used "Protego Totalum" to activate a protective barrier, and the unlucky Acromantula once again crashed into the invisible shield, being directly flung away.
This time, the Acromantula fell quite hard, and because several of its legs were under the influence of Albert's Dancing Feet Spell, still twitching wildly, it couldn't get up from the ground immediately.
Albert immediately dispelled the protective barrier and continued to cast the Dancing Feet Spell on the Acromantula while it was still struggling.
Struck by several Dancing Feet Spells, the Acromantula, which had just gotten up, found all eight of its legs completely out of control, as if someone had put ice skates on it. Its eight legs twitched constantly, and it actually fell down on the spot, creating a very comical scene.
"Spiders definitely aren't suited for tap dancing," Albertmuttered, pulling back a distance, and began to unleash all the offensive spells he knew on the Acromantula, putting the comical spider out of its misery completely, lest it embarrass itself in front of its other companions.
In fact, Albert's process of dealing with the Acromantula was not as easy as imagined. Acromantulas are considered magical creatures bred by ancient Wizards, and these creatures have a strong resistance to magic, so ordinary spells do not have a significant effect on them.
Moreover, after their creation, they were usually used to guard Wizard residences or treasures, so they are very good at silently hunting down thieves.
One-on-one, facing such monsters still requires some courage, and even adult Wizards, when facing these Acromantulas, sometimes don't do as well as Albert.
After all, not all Wizards can be as… cough, as proficient in using protective barriers as Albert.
Spells also vary in difficulty.
The commonly used Lumos Charm belongs to the relatively easy-to-master type, and the difficulty of leveling it up to level 2 is much lower than many other spells.
This spell is frequently used and very easy to master.
The highly practical Shield Charm is of medium difficulty, and "Protego Totalum," which is a variation of the Shield Charm, is clearly more difficult to learn than the former.
One of the benefits of the system's stat allocation is that it allows Albert to easily master high-difficulty magicand use it skillfully. After the skill level is higher, it can also make the magic more powerful and evolve into more variations.
This can directly skip the exploration and experimentation of magic.
"What a waste," Albert muttered softly, examining the monster in front of him. He knew that this monster could provide Acromantula venom, which is a very valuable liquid, selling for one hundred Galleons per pint, and even more in the black market.
However, Albert also knew that he did not have the courage or ability to deal with the Acromantula in front of him.
"Forget it!"
Albert regretted missing out on a large sum of Galleons. He opened the quest panel, chose to complete "Angry Counterattack," and directly upgraded the "Spider Repellent Charm" to level 2 on the skill panel.
The feeling of allocating points is truly wonderful; knowledge appears out of nowhere.
Albert closed his eyes, carefully recalling the information about the Spider Repellent Charm that appeared in his mind. He raised his wand and gently waved it at the fallen Acromantula:
"Arania Exumai."
A dazzling magical light struck the Acromantula, instantly flinging the Acromantula away and leaving severe wounds on its body.
"This spell's damage is directly maxed out," Albertcouldn't help but exclaim, "It really lives up to its name as a spell specifically for spiders."
After mastering the Spider Repellent Charm, Albert felt a renewed sense of confidence, at least when facing Acromantulas, he would no longer feel constrained.
"Just you wait," he muttered, "I'll flip you all over."
Albert was about to continue forward but then stopped because he found a new quest had appeared on his panel:
Spider Hunter.
You are never a lenient person, and you will not forgive the big guys who want to eat you. Defeat or kill them, and let these dark, hairy big guys understand who they shouldn't mess with.
Current progress: 0/20.
Reward: 10000 experience, item: 1 bottle of Acromantula Venom, title: Spider Hunter, Wizarding World reputation +200.
After reading the quest, Albert's facial muscles twitched slightly. This system really holds grudges!
Well, that's right.
After all, he is a good person, how could he hold a grudge?
"Fang, we should go," Albert crouched down, raised his hand to rub Fang's head, and said softly, "You need to help me be vigilant of our surroundings, don't let those Acromantulas ambush me."
Yes, that was Albert's biggest concern at the moment.
Fortunately, although the hound Fang was timid, his vigilance was quite reliable, always able to issue a warning at the first sign of danger.
Albert and Fang walked a little further and finally encountered another clearing. He hesitated for a moment, then still raised his wand and shot green sparks into the sky.
At this moment, the night sky of the Forbidden Forestwas illuminated by the sparks.
The moment the green light appeared, many creatures in the Forbidden Forest looked up towards where the sparks were rising.
Albert's adventure was still worthwhile, as red sparks lit up above the forest.
Fred and George also realized that someone was coming to rescue them, so they shot red sparks to guide the Professors who were coming to rescue them.
Unfortunately, the Twins guessed wrong; it wasn't the Professors from the school who came to rescue them, but their roommate and good friend, Albert Anderson.
At this moment, Albert also encountered some trouble; as he delved deeper into the forest, the number of Acromantulas he encountered began to increase.
"Arania Exumai!"
As the sound of the Spider Repellent Charm rang out, a white light once again appeared in the dark forest, and another spider was struck by the spell, falling to the ground and unable to get up again.
"Am I about to break into the spiders' lair?" Albertlooked around at the several Acromantulas lying on the ground, their fates unknown, and couldn't help but mutter.
Along the way, Albert didn't know how many Acromantulas he had taken down, and he himself was too lazy to keep counting.
The situation was not optimistic; Acromantulas often appeared out of nowhere to attack him, and if it weren't for Fang's warnings, Albert would have been eaten by the Acromantulas long ago.
Acromantulas are fierce predators, almost silent when ambushing prey.
After Albert confirmed there was no danger around him, he once again shot green sparks into the sky. He felt that his distance from the Weasley Brothers should not be far.
Fang was also not doing well; he couldn't adapt to Apparition and was walking somewhat unsteadily.
After using Apparition several times in a row, Albertalso felt unwell; all the chocolate he had eaten shortly before had been vomited out.
That he could still remain clear-headed now was truly thanks to his strong will!
Of course, this also had something to do with level 2 Apparition.
"Are they trapped?" Albert looked at the red sparks in the night sky and muttered to himself.
The distance between them hadn't shortened much. If the Weasley Brothers were also moving in this direction, they should have met by now.
Albert continued to advance in the direction where the red sparks were glowing. After stepping over a fallen tree, he suddenly stopped.
Not far away, a series of clicking sounds could be heard.
Albert already knew what it was: the sound of Acromantulas moving. But how many spiders would it take to make such distinct, dense sounds?
Albert immediately held Fang down, preventing him from barking, lest he attract the Acromantulas ahead. Honestly, Albert didn't know how Acromantulas perceived external sounds.
"Quiet, Fang, don't bark. If we get surrounded by spiders, we're dead," Albert lightly patted Fang, gave a serious instruction, and then quietly crept forward.
The next moment, the expression on Albert's face froze.
He saw a scene that shocked him immensely: an army of spiders.
A group of Acromantulas was surrounding a large tree, and the Weasley Brothers, whom Albert had been desperately searching for, were hanging in the tree, struggling to fend off the Acromantulas trying to reach them.
Albert had already guessed what kind of tree it was; only a guardian tree could have such a magical effect. Legend has it that merely touching the trunk of a guardian tree could protect one from attacks by dark creatures.
However, nothing is absolute.
Normally, Acromantulas would stay away from a guardian tree. But now it was different; with fresh flesh and blood delivered right to them, the effect of the guardian tree was less pronounced under the temptation of food.
More and more massive Acromantulas tried to charge the guardian tree, wanting to force the humans hiding in the tree down. As long as the humans left the guardian tree, they could hunt their targets without restraint and enjoy the fresh blood and flesh.
Temptation, sometimes, can indeed make people fearless, and this saying clearly applied well to the Acromantulas.
"Hold on, someone's coming! The Professors from Hogwarts are coming to save us!" George screamed loudly. He raised his wand and shot red sparks into the sky, guiding the Professors who were coming to rescue them.
"Don't get distracted, those Acromantulas are coming again!" Fred shouted loudly.
"Hold them back, don't let them get close!" Georgecould only encourage himself to keep his spirits up when facing these Acromantulas that were almost driving him to collapse.
The current situation was not optimistic; the Acromantulas were charging the guardian tree more and more frequently. The two of them could only repel the Acromantulas by using the Impediment Jinxtogether.
Fortunately, not all Acromantulas dared to charge the guardian tree, otherwise the Weasley Brothers would have already become a meal for these Acromantulas.
"What can I do to save you?" Albert looked at his wand, then towards the Weasley Brothers, muttering to himself.
If the number of Acromantulas wasn't too large, Albertwould have been confident in forcing his way through and bringing the Weasley Brothers out, but in the current situation, it was very bad!
Albert felt that even with the Spider Repellent Charm, he couldn't face such an army of spiders simultaneously, unless the Spider Repellent Charm was raised to a high level, making the spell's effect more widespread. Otherwise, it would be impossible to lead them out of the spider army's encirclement.
Albert was very clear about his own capabilities.
Actually, there wasn't no way at all. If he used Apparition, he should be able to do it—Apparate there himself, then directly Apparate away with the two of them.
This ultimate safeguard was very reliable, but… if possible, Albert didn't want to expose himself, because he couldn't explain why he could Apparate.
A genius?
Even a genius probably couldn't explain it!
His use of Ancient Runes was probably already suspicious enough. If that could be explained by a language genius, then how could Apparition be explained?
Could he only wait?
Albert glanced at his experience pool and then opened the Spider Hunter quest panel. Current progress: 20/20.
After claiming the Spider Hunter experience, Albert's gaze fell on another newly appeared quest.
Spider Slayer.
You have gained some experience in dealing with Acromantulas. Defeat as many Acromantulas as possible to make them understand who they have provoked.
Current progress: 0.
Reward: 50 points per spider.
Albert was speechless when he saw this quest. He had never thought that a monster-grinding quest would appear, but it seemed that these monsters were not easy to grind.
No, there's a way.
If he hid in the guardian tree with the Twins, couldn't he just 'card' the monsters and slowly grind them?
However, there was still a big problem.
How was he going to get there?
Breaking through the spider army's encirclement was not easy.
If he wanted to rush through, he would need to open a gap, which the Spider Repellent Charm could do. But how to rush through without being surrounded along the way? That wouldn't be easy. There was still some distance from here to that tree. To get there safely, he would need… to create a barrier.
As an aside, the book-chasing app I'm currently using, [Mimi Reading App], allows for cached reading and offline narration!
Undoubtedly, fire was the most suitable. Creating a fiery passage could not only drive away the surrounding Acromantulas but also illuminate the surroundings, preventing him from tripping while running.
But… his Fire Charm was only level 1, completely unable to meet Albert's requirements.
Albert gritted his teeth and upgraded the Fire Charm to level 2.
"I'll risk it. As long as I kill more monsters, I won't lose out."
"Fang, remember to stick close to me later, don't get left behind!" Albert whispered. He tightened his grip on his wand, took a deep breath, and suddenly leaped out from his hiding place, casting the Spider Repellent Charm at the Acromantulas surrounding the guardian tree.
At this moment, in Fred and George's vision, dazzling white lights suddenly fell into the spider crowd. The spider army that had been surrounding the guardian tree was actually torn open, creating a path.
Several of the Acromantulas, which they considered very difficult to deal with, were even knocked down by the spell.
Both of them were a bit stunned, completely unclear about what had just happened.
The next second, a large amount of flames suddenly emerged in the forest, and these flames actually transformed into two blazing walls of fire, spreading towards the guardian tree, successfully isolating the Acromantulas outside the fire walls.
Everything happened so suddenly. After a moment of daze, the Twins quickly realized that someone had come to rescue them.
The two were about to climb down from the guardian tree when they were stopped by a voice.
Someone was shouting in their direction: "Don't come down."
Fred and George both froze, looking at each other. This voice, why was it so familiar?
Could it be…
