Chapter 178 - gaze from behind

"Ugh, I lost again. Can't we play cards happily?"

In the Gryffindor common room, George, who had just lost another round of wizard card, slumped powerlessly into his chair, casually tossing the large stack of remaining cards onto the table. He couldn't help but complain, "Why am I always the one who loses?"

"Nonsense, it would be strange if you could beat me now." Albert tidied up his cards, then patted George's shoulder to comfort him. "After all, I invented this game. With your current skill level, it's temporarily impossible for you to win against me. You should play with Fred or Lee Jordan; your three skill levels should be about the same."

"No, no, George and Fred definitely can't beat me." Lee Jordan chuckled.

"You didn't sneak any weird cards into your deck again, did you?" Albert looked at Lee Jordan suspiciously, with a look that said, 'You didn't cheat again, did you?'

"Do I look like that kind of person?" Lee Jordan protested indignantly.

"As if you haven't done that before. What was the deal with that Avada Kedavra card last time?" Fred glared at Lee Jordan with a look of disdain.

"Ahem, that card, I was just testing it out to see if the Unforgivable Curses should be included." Lee Jordancoughed lightly and explained, "However, it seems it's not quite suitable. I've already removed that card from the deck."

"No need, I'll modify the content of the Avada Kedavracard later," Albert said after thinking for a moment. "If using the Avada Kedavra card doesn't defeat the opponent, the person who used that card will directly lose that match."

"Why?" the three asked in unison.

"Because Wizards who use Avada Kedavra will be caught by Ministry of Magic Aurors and sent to Azkaban Prison!" Albert said matter-of-factly, "This is a card prepared for the Dark Wizard faction. Only players who choose the Dark Wizard faction will not directly lose the game if they fail to win after using the Avada Kedavracard. However, in each round, their opponent will have an Auror card added to the field, lasting for three rounds."

"Dark Wizards being hunted by Aurors after using the Unforgivable Curses? That's quite interesting." Lee Jordan felt this idea was very good and immediately pulled out his notebook to write down Albert's idea.

"Will there be a Ministry of Magic faction in the future?" Fred said with certainty, "Hogwarts, Ministry of Magic, Dark Wizard?"

"If possible, there will also be Wizarding World, Goblin, and Magical Creature cards," Albert explained. "Of course, the gameplay will also be different, such as your Quidditch deck gameplay, and my Spell deck."

"Why does my Professor gameplay always lose?" George couldn't help but protest, "Your setup is unreasonable."

"George, you have too many high-star cards," Fred said, covering his face. "High-star cards can only be used in the late game; if you can't use them early, you naturally lose."

"Yes, Fred is right." Lee Jordan nodded in agreement, "You actually put three ten-star Dumbledore cards in your deck, which can only be used until the tenth round. If you ask me, one is already too many. Why did you put three? What are you trying to do?"

"When it gets to the tenth round, you won't be able to beat me," George said.

"In fact, it's very difficult for you to last until then." Fredhad always wanted to complain about George's idea of saving up for a big move.

"How about we increase the players' health to thirty?" George suggested.

"Fifteen to twenty is already enough." Lee Jordan shook his head and rejected it. "You should know how to coordinate. For someone like Albert, who specializes in using spells, you should create a card to counter him."

"Isn't there one?" Albert reminded him, "QuidditchMatch Ban."

During a Quidditch match, players are forbidden from using spells. For the next three rounds, no spells can be used on the field, and the attack of all Quidditch players on the field increases by 1.

Fred's cards were all Quidditch decks, so he had three of these cards, but he still couldn't win when playing against Albert.

"What are you doing?" Angelina walked over, looking at the four people huddled together, not knowing what they were doing, and asked curiously.

"Playing cards, a card game invented by Albert," Fredexplained casually.

"Card game, what's that?" Angelina looked at the cards on the table, full of confusion. She had never heard of such a game in the Wizarding World.

George handed a card to Angelina, who was stunned after reading it, because she found that the card actually had George's name written on it.

"The number next to the sword symbol is attack power, the number next to the heart symbol is health, and the line below is the effect of that card," Albert explained.

"Do you want to play a round too?" Fred said with a smile, "My cards are the same as George's. This one is Lee Jordan's card, and Albert's is this one."

"Interesting." Angelina put down Lee Jordan's card and asked curiously, "Why do you use real names?"

"This was inspired by Albert from the chocolate frogcards," Fred explained. "If you want your own card, you can ask Albert to make one for you."

"Can I?" Angelina looked at Albert.

"Of course, no problem." Albert pulled a blank card from his notebook, then took out his pen and started filling out the card. The health and attack were the same as Lee Jordan's. However, Angelina's card effect was 'Leading': In a Quidditch match, be the first to score ten points, greatly boosting morale, and all teammates on your side gain +1 attack this round.

"I like this!" Angelina said with a smile. In a Quidditchmatch, being able to score first would undoubtedly greatly boost morale.

"Want to play a round?" Fred handed his cards to Angelina.

Angelina took the deck and drew another card, and it was a familiar face.

"Violent Beater: Swing your bat to strike an enemy, dealing 2 damage. When Irene and Mark appear on the field at the same time, they will deal 2 damage to one enemy each round." Angelina softly read out Irene's card effect, then couldn't help but chuckle. She felt this game might be more interesting than she imagined. She asked, "How do you play this game?"

A few minutes later, Angelina very simply lost to Albert.

"I actually lost." Angelina found this unfamiliar game very interesting. She could tell that Albert's deck was completely different from Fred's deck.

"I told you early on, don't play with Albert," Lee Jordanreminded her. "It's normal for you to lose to him. Right now, probably no one can beat him."

"Why?" Angelina asked, puzzled.

"Because he invented this game," Fred said helplessly. "Until we figure out the card combinations and how to play the game, no one can beat him."

"That's true. By the way, how can you still have the nerve to play cards with us here?" Angelina glared at Albert and complained.

"It seems you were the one who actively sought me out to play cards," Albert said, shrugging helplessly. "I originally told you to play with George."

"Oh, is that so? George, let's play a round." Angelinainvited George.

...

A few minutes later, George slumped dejectedly in his chair, with a look on his face that said, "I don't want to play cards anymore."

"I told you early on, if you don't replace some of those high-star cards, you're definitely only going to lose," Lee Jordan said to George, looking speechless.

"However, I somewhat understand Albert's painstaking efforts now," Fred suddenly said.

"What do you mean?"

"Let Angelina regain her confidence."

"How pathetic," the two looked at Georgesimultaneously, revealing an expression of understanding.

"Hey, hey, what kind of expressions are those?" Georgecouldn't help but protest.

"What are you doing?" At this moment, Charlie walked over with a notice, preparing to post the Quidditchtryout notice on the Gryffindor bulletin board.

"Playing a card game," Angelina said with a smile, handing Charlie's card over.

"Card game, what's that?" Charlie took the item Angelina handed him with a puzzled look. After glancing at the content, he softly read aloud: "Devil Captain: After long-term hellish training, all teammates on your side of the field gain +1 attack?"

On a side note, the book-chasing app I've been using recently, [Mimi Reading App], allows for cached reading and offline narration!

Wood, who was nearby, couldn't help but chuckle upon hearing this.

"It seems my training is still too easy," Charlie glared at Albert and the other three with ill intent.

"Ahem, these cards were all made by Albert," Fredshamelessly shirked responsibility.

"That's right, they were all made by Albert," Georgeimmediately chimed in.

"The Devil Captain was something Fred and Georgeinsisted on using. They thought it was more appropriate," Albert mercilessly stabbed the two of them.

"Do you have my card?" Wood asked curiously.

"Here's this one," Fred quickly changed the subject. "Goalkeeper, helps a designated teammate block two points of damage."

Wood was quite satisfied with his card, but he noticed that most of the players' names could be found in Fred's card deck, except…

"Why only Gryffindor?" Wood looked at Albertconfusedly and asked.

"There are no cards from other houses for now," Albertnodded. "I'll consider making them in the future. However, time is limited, and currently, I've only made these cards."

"Are there also Professors from the school?" Angelinaasked curiously, "Cards for the Deans?"

Hmm,

"Most of them are," Fred handed Snape's card to Angelina, who couldn't help but laugh after reading it.

Slytherin Dean's effect was, "Gaze from Behind: You are being watched, a chill runs down your spine, it's best to do nothing. The designated target's attack power is reduced to zero."

"Ahem, are you saying it's like this?" Lee Jordan cleared his throat, trying to imitate Snape's usual voice, which made the others present burst into laughter.

It seems everyone usually gets a lot of stares from Potions Professor from behind.
