"Did we get a delinquent in our hands?"
Lena looked down at the attendance sheet as she made her way across the first-year dorm rooms. The sun had already begun to set, and the first day of classes were over. In all of this, there was no news of the first-year Class A-4 Aria Fenrir.
"What's up with this girl? She did sign in yesterday, at the entrance gate, then was she in her room the entire time?"
Although it wasn't her responsibility, Instructor Maya showed concern about her and requested to check on her, which she obviously couldn't decline.
This can't spell anything but trouble.
Just then, one of the juniors she gave a speech to came into her sight. Wasn't he the one who got in a fight with Mars? What was his name?
"Oh, President Lena!"
Near quickens his pace, catches up to her. "How is it going, president?"
Lena nodded her head and said It's going well for the formality. It wasn't as if they were on speaking terms, and even for a junior, she had a negative impression of him.
She tried to move on, but he kept walking with her, and before she knew it, he was talking with her enthusiastically, telling her about his day, how good the instructors are, and how wonderful the experience he had, and all that.
She kept nodding her head until she couldn't take it anymore. This guy! Why wouldn't he take a hint!? Is he ignoring, or does he just not get when the other person is not interested? Whatever, I can't take it any longer.
Lena spoke to him in a stern voice.
"Ahem! Near that's good and all, but don't ever start a fight again in the academy."
Hearing that, Near's whole body stiffened; he opened his mouth as if to protest but weakly closed it. Lena continued.
"If you ever fought again, the consequence wouldn't be simple, understood!? Now I have to get going."
Patting him on the shoulder, Lena left.
Okay, this is it. Lena checked the room number, then straightened her uniform and collar, and knocked on the door.
Knock Knock
She waited for a few seconds, but there was no response from the other side, so she knocked again.
Knock Knock
Again, there was no response. why is she not responding? is she out? or maybe she is in there but avoiding me, let me check…
"Aria, are you in there? Respond if you are, or I would have to open the door myself to check on you."
The door creaked open fast as if the other person was just standing to the door side. Aria fumbled her words.
"Um… I was about to open the door…It wasn't as if I was stalling or anything."
Lena nodded her head as if saying Yeah, yeah, I believe in your excuse, don't embarrass yourself any more but then stopped as she took Aria's condition in.
"What's going on? why are you such a mess?"
"Huh, what!?"
True to the statement, Aria was a mess; her short hair was scattered in all sides, her eyes were red as if she was crying, and she was wearing an oversized T-shirt, which was wrinkled and half-tucked in. Lena even wondered how she could greet a stranger dressed like this.
"Let me check you." Lena put her hand on the forehead of flustered Aria.
Then she immediately exclaimed.
"YOU! You have such a high fever. What were you doing in your room? why didn't you contact anyone?"
Aria flinched as if she hadn't been expected to be put in a spot. She fidgeted with her fingers, "Um… I thought I would get better on my own."
Hearing her excuse, Lena was baffled. She shook her head. "That's not how it works, never mind that, what would have happened if I hadn't come in today? Would you have stayed that way until someone came to check on you?"
It was fortunate that she came today at the request of Instructor Maya, or it could have been worse.
Aria hung her head down weakly as if she was getting scolded by her mom. Seeing this, Lena stopped and said.
"Whatever, just get dressed properly before I take you infirmary."
With that, she gently pushed Aria back inside and followed her in.
***
(Aria POV)
What's up with this girl? Why can't she leave me alone?
Looking at the president, Lena sitting on the bed, heat rose to my face. Wait, why am I blushing? It's just another girl… right, I'm a girl now too. This shouldn't be weird.
But well, she could have sat on the sofa or the chairs, why the bed? The sheets were still crumpled up.
I need to get dressed. Checking in the closest, there were uniforms and some casual wear. I picked one of them, then went into the bathroom to change.
I obviously didn't take out anything; I was still embarrassed and wasn't shameless enough to do that. I just wore the jacket on top of a T-shirt and pajama pants. Ready to go. I went back into the room
"Let's go," I said. But was there something wrong? Why was the President staring at me with strange eyes?
"What's wrong?" When I asked her, she just shook her head and stood up from the bed.
The infirmary was on the ground floor, so I had to walk down two floors. Also, I was feeling kind of weak, maybe because I hadn't eaten anything since the morning, and I could feel the hallway around me spin when I told Lena that she asked me whether I wanted a piggyback ride.
Which I obviously declined, it wasn't that I believed that she wouldn't be able to carry me with her soft and squishy hands, which looked as if they would snap with enough force. I was more than sure she was up to the task because President Lena was one of the main heroines of the main character's harem, just beside Aria herself and another one.
but getting carried by the president would be weird.
If I remember correctly, I gave her a responsible, diligent, helpful senior character type. Maybe that was why she was trying to help me even though I said it was fine.
Sigh, I wish she would just leave me alone.
Down to the ground floor, we made our way into the east wing. Where we met up with a Healer, yeah right, what was I thinking it's a Hunter-Dungeon world, obviously there would be a Healer instead of a Doctor.
But contrary to my expectation, instead of using magic, throwing chants and spells, she seemed to be using pretty much standard doctor measures.
She gave me something like a pill. When I asked her what this was, she told me it was something like glucose. After swallowing it, I immediately felt better.
Then the healer checked my vitals with standard equipment, but I noticed her eyes glowing faintly as she asked questions. thankfully, they weren't personal, or I would have been caught up in a tight spot.
But those shining eyes, were they some kind of ability?
After several minutes of this, she delivered her verdict.
"You have severe depression."
