After hours of a sleep-filled journey for Charlotte and Abby, Mr. Mavurian announced their arrival. Mehin city was a foggy little town, with rich neighborhoods. It was so breathtaking, Abby wouldn't stop pointing fingers at buildings they passed by asking their new mom questions out of the innocent curiosity of her mind. Fifteen minutes later, they finally arrived at the big mansion that belonged to the Mavurians. It was a magnificent view! If not the most magnificent of views they had seen upon arriving at the new city. Maids, cooks, cleaners, and guards were already outside, ready to welcome them. It seemed they had been given the instructions ahead of time.
"This is Reana and Rose," Mr. Mavurian introduced the girls with a proud smile.
Later on, Mrs. Mavurian turned to one of the maids.
"Please, show them to their rooms," she said gently.
As they walked through the wide, polished hallways, a young maid turned to Charlotte with a polite smile.
"Welcome, Miss,"
Charlotte smiled. "Thank you"
The maid nodded and kept walking. "Alright, Miss, This is your room."
She stopped in front of a large door and handed Charlotte a pair of shiny keys.
"These are the keys to your room and your closet. Your mother already bought you a pet dog. You also have keys to the other rooms, so feel free to explore. Everything you need is here. If you need anything, just use the telephone over there to call me."
She bowed politely.
"Thank you," Charlotte said. "Oh, and what's your name?"
"I'm Jenny."
"Okay, thanks a lot, Jenny. Please show my little sister to my room later when she's settled."
"Alright, Miss," Jenny replied with a smile before leaving the room.
Charlotte looked around. The room was huge and beautifully decorated.
"Gosh, this room is really big," she whispered.
She noticed another door with a label on it: Doggie. Curious, she opened it and gasped. It was a room just for the dog with a small bed, a mini sitting area, a bathtub, and even a wardrobe.
Just then, a little white dog ran out of the room and jumped on her, licking her face.
"Eww! That was nasty, Doggie!" she laughed, wiping her face. "You're so cute."
She giggled, then carried the dog into her room and set it down gently. She walked over to the window and opened it to let in fresh air.
From the window, she saw a beautiful building in the distance. Her eyes lit up.
"ROYALS COLLEGE!" she said smiling to herself, It had always been her dream to go to college, even though she eventually told herself to wake up from such dreams as it was homeschooling that was the only option for the orphans back in Dontown.
The breeze from outside gently blew into her room, carrying a sweet fragrance to her nose. Her room smelled like strawberries. The walls were painted white with light pink flower patterns. Her bedsheets were in bolder shades of pink. Her lampstand, the lamp, the wardrobe, the dressing mirror, the reading table, and the chair—all were beautiful.
Charlotte smiled, took her old belongings from the orphanage, and placed them gently on the bed. Feeling curious, she walked over to her wardrobe. As she opened it, her eyes widened.
"Oh my goodness," she whispered. "This is crazy!"
She almost fainted. The wardrobe was packed with clothes—so many of them. There was even a section for designer handbags, shoes, and purses. She turned to her bedside drawer and saw an Iphone, and a macbook placed on it. Opening the drawer, she found skincare and makeup products inside.
She picked up a perfume bottle, sprayed a little on her wrist, and smiled as the scent hit her.
"Wow," she breathed. "This is fabulous."
Charlotte had never dreamed of being loved this way.
While she was still admiring the room, Abby ran in, holding a small rabbit with a pink ribbon around its neck. She looked so different—her nanny had clearly changed her into a new outfit.
Charlotte turned, still holding the perfume.
"Reana!" Abby called out happily.
"Yes, yes, come in," Charlotte replied, smiling.
"Look at my doll!" Abby said excitedly, holding a doll in one hand.
"Yeah? Come here, little sis. You look beautiful in those clothes. And I love your new doll."
"Oh, thanks, Reana! I found it in my new room!"
Charlotte sat on the bed and looked at her, admiring how brilliant the little girl was. She had quickly adapted to the new life and the new names.
"I hope you're going to enjoy it here—with our new family," she said gently, wanting to be sure Abby felt the same way.
"Yeah, I'm really, really, really… gonna enjoy our new family!" She squealed. "Come, let's go see my room!"
Charlotte laughed. "Hmm, okay. But I'll have to change first, alright?"
She walked over to her wardrobe, pulled out a simple crop top and a pair of leggings, then quickly changed. Once she was dressed, she joined Abby, and together they headed to her room.
Abby's room was like a dream—perfect for a little girl. The walls were painted pink, covered with delicate floral designs. The air smelled sweet, filled with the scent of wildflowers.
Her bed was covered with soft, light pink sheets decorated with beautiful fleur-de-lis patterns. All around were dolls, toys, and stockings—everything in shades of pink. Her wardrobe stood tall and grand behind her, and everything looked like a scene from a Disney movie. With pictures of Ariel and other mermaids on the walls, it truly felt magical.
"Wow," Charlotte said, looking around in awe. "This is amazing. Mr. and Mrs. Mavurian must really love art. Look at all these paintings and frames!"
Abby smiled and held up a small pet. " I'm going to call her Pouncey!"
"Aww, hello Pouncey," Charlotte said, ruffling the tiny rabbit gently. They both giggled as they cuddled the pet together.
Just then, there was a knock on the door.
"Coming!" Abby called out as she ran to open it.
Their mom stepped in with a smile. "Sorry, ladies. I hope I'm not interrupting."
"Of course not, Mom," Charlotte replied warmly. "Come in!"
"I just came to ask if you two can join me downstairs once you're ready. We're going out," Mrs. Mavurian said.
"Alright, Mom. We'll be there!" Charlotte replied.
Mrs. Mavurian smiled and stepped out of the room.
Charlotte turned to Abby's nanny. "Please help her freshen up and get ready."
While Abby was getting dressed, Charlotte returned to her room and did the same. This time, she chose a short pleated gown and carried Licky with her.
In no time, both girls were ready and joined their mom, who was already waiting in the car. The driver opened the door for them, and they all got in as the car pulled out of the driveway.
After a few minutes on the road, their jeep pulled up in front of a beauty salon. Two guards stepped down and followed as Mrs. Mavurian and the girls entered.
Inside, Mrs. Mavurian led Charlotte and Abby into the VIP room reserved for special clients.
A feminine-looking man walked up to them with a wide smile. "Welcome, Mrs. Mavurian ," he said, his voice soft and sweet, almost like a lady's.
"Thanks, Suzie," she replied with a smile.
Charlotte and Abby couldn't help but observe his mannerisms. He noticed them and turned with a sassy grin.
"Oh, I see we've got some pretty faces today," Suzie said, gently touching Abby's cheek. "Who are these cuties?"
"These are my daughters, Reana and Rose," Mrs. Mavurian said.
"Hi," Charlotte and Abby chorused.
"Hi, darlings! Let's get started, shall we?" he clapped his hands and called in more attendants. "The usual for you my lady?" he asked.
"Yes, Suzie, the usual," Mrs. Mavurian confirmed.
Soon, the salon team got to work. They pampered the ladies with luxurious hair treatments, facials, manicures, and pedicures. While getting their treatments, the three of them flipped through glossy magazines and sipped chilled juice.
After a few hours, the work was done.
Abby looked into the mirror and gasped. "Wow!"
Charlotte's eyes widened. She could hardly believe her transformation. She looked elegant and grown-up.
Mrs. Mavurian nodded in approval. "You both look beautiful," she said.
"I love it!" Abby beamed, hugging her mom.
Mrs. Mavurian stood and turned to Suzie. "Thank you. You did a wonderful job as always."
"Anything for you, queen," Suzie said with a wink.
"Please can you take a picture of us with my phone?" Charlotte asked the hairstylist, and he gladly agreed.
When they were done with the photo session, Mrs Mavurian paid the bill, adding a generous tip before they all left the salon and headed back home.
When they got home, their maids welcomed them at the door. The staff admired the girls' beautiful makeover.
Charlotte turned to her personal maid and smiled. "Jenny, please come."
"Yes, Miss," Jenny said, following her.
"I admire your makeover,Miss," Jenny added sincerely as they walked.
"Oh, thanks, Jenny," Charlotte replied. "Please, do away with these old clothes." She handed over the outfit she had worn from the orphanage. "Also, kindly press my clothes for church service tomorrow."
"Okay, Sister," Jenny said with a small bow and left with the clothes.
Charlotte took the chance to sit on her bed and explore her new phone. Just then, the telephone beside her bed rang. She picked it up.
"Hello?"
"Hello, Miss. Dinner will be served in a few minutes. Please kindly make yourself available at the dining room."
"Thank you," Charlotte responded.
The line went dead.
"Hmm," Charlotte smiled to herself. "I was even beginning to feel hungry."
At dinner, they were served spaghetti and fried turkey, with a bottle of chilled rosé wine. They also had steak tartare as an appetizer. The atmosphere was warm and cheerful.
After the meal, everyone exchanged goodnights and returned to their rooms.
Back in her room, Charlotte found it hard to fall asleep. Everything still felt like a dream. She didn't want the feeling to end.
She thought about her Charles. I wish you could see me now, she whispered to herself. I wish you could see how happy I am.
Eventually, sleep came while she was lost in her thoughts.
Te following day was a sunday…the entire household had the whole day to themselves to just relax. Not much chores, Mr and Mrs Mavurian didn't even leave their rooms until it was time for dinner. They had enjoyed breakfast and lunch in bed. Charlotte and Abby too.
Later that evening, after dinner, their parents gathered them in the living room.
"You'll be resuming school tomorrow," Mr. Mavurian announced with a warm smile. "Everything has been sorted."
He turned to Abby. "Rose, you'll be attending Royals Kindergarten School."
Then to Charlotte, he added, "And you, Reana, will be attending Royals college."
Charlotte was surprised.
"Uhmm you own Royals college?" She asked still in disbelief.
Charlotte could hardly contain her joy. Her dream had come true. She had already worked so hard to get an admission letter, but now she was officially going to attend the school she had always wanted.
"Alright, kids," Mrs. Mavurian said, getting up. "It's past bedtime. You've got a great day ahead. Time to return to your rooms." They all wished each other goodnight and left for their rooms, their hearts full and ready for the next chapter.
