Chapter 83 - Chapter 83

The movie was filmed in a dark room—but yes, it really was filmed in a dark room.

Captain America fell back.

"Never!"

"Big brother screen!"

"You again!???"

"What the hell is this thing!!!"

Even a rough, tech-illiterate man like Captain America could now figure out what was going on.

That damned screen had tricked him once again.

He could see clearly: his lips in the video did not match the words being spoken.

"Damn it! How many times are you going to toy with me before letting me go?!"

Captain America wanted to cry—but he couldn't.

S.H.I.E.L.D.

With a gentle puff, the drink in Director Nick Fury's hand sprayed everywhere.

He choked and coughed several times.

"Cough… cough…"

Black Widow stepped forward and patted him on the back.

"Director Fury, are you okay?"

Fury took a few deep breaths, slowly regaining his composure.

"I'm fine, don't worry about me. Just keep watching the video."

Of course, he didn't tell Black Widow or Hawkeye the truth: he had heard Captain America say, "Go home and pick cotton."

He had nearly choked in shock.

There was no way he could tell them that. Fury still had some dignity left.

But then again… what did the original video actually look like?

[Cough, sorry.]

[I accidentally played the wrong clip.]

[I promise, the following video is completely accurate.]

Captain America, Director Fury: You better believe it!!!

Under the tree.

Captain America and Sam Wilson (Falcon) were chatting about the movies they'd been watching recently.

They were enjoying themselves and even made tentative plans to see a film together sometime.

Suddenly, Captain America's phone buzzed.

A message appeared: "Mission. Depart immediately. Meet by the roadside."

Captain America: "Sam, there's a mission. Thanks for coming along with me—if you want to call that 'running.'"

Sam laughed. He had idolized Captain America since childhood, and his admiration had only grown after the Battle of New York.

So he took Captain America's harmless joke in stride.

Sam: "Oh, by the way, if you ever go to the Veteran Services office, help me smooth things over with the girl at the front desk."

Captain America: "Don't worry. I'll let you know when I leave."

Engines roared. A sleek black supercar appeared before them.

Black Widow rolled down the window.

Black Widow: "Hey guys, anyone know the way to the Smithsonian? I'm going to pick up a fossil."

Captain America approached the car, casually remarking, "Ah, what a funny joke."

Sam looked at Black Widow and Captain America, imagining them as a couple. He greeted Black Widow politely.

After a brief exchange, the group parted ways.

Back at the camp.

Agent Carter felt a pang of jealousy.

A woman's intuition. She could instantly sense the flirtatious look Black Widow had given Captain America.

Of course, Sam was right there beside him—the perfect buffer.

Agent Carter gave Captain America a sharp look.

"Steve, promise me—you won't end up with Black Widow seventy years from now."

Lately, Captain America had been making a conscious effort to get along with her.

He had learned a lot from his capable older brother, Bucky—the former heartthrob of the dance hall.

So he immediately recognized the jealousy in her tone.

Captain America (calmly): "We're just colleagues. Don't worry. Carter, my heart belongs only to you."

He gently held her delicate hand, adjusting his gaze.

Her eyes, soft and clear like a spring, met his.

Carter's heart skipped a beat—suddenly, without warning.

This was bad.

Steve… how could he do this out of the blue?

Unknowingly, her jealousy vanished.

Bucky and Howard crossed their arms, watching the scene unfold.

Howard nudged Bucky with his elbow:

"Hey, hey, you're still impressive, Bucky. Back then, before Steve asked for your advice, he would have panicked in this situation. Now look at him—so composed."

Bucky gazed at the clouds, a twinge of melancholy in his mind.

This was the first weekend after Captain America had rescued him.

They had gone to a bar to unwind.

That night, every beautiful woman seemed to swarm Captain America!

They didn't even give him a second glance. He was handsome, nearly 1.8 meters tall, and once the life of the party!

Whenever Bucky remembered it, he felt a pang of pain.

"Good guy… we were supposed to grow old together… but you secretly got a hair treatment?! Steve, Steve… I've misunderstood you all this time!"

Bucky (grumbling): "I didn't teach you right."

"This was Steve's plan all along!"

In the slums.

Dr. Banner was frustrated.

"Hey! What's going on? I saw Sam looking like he was supporting them. Why don't I feel the same way?"

He scratched his head. The Hulk inside him was ready to act.

S.H.I.E.L.D.

Hawkeye half-joked as he glanced at Black Widow:

"Natasha, you don't actually like Captain Steve, right? I think you two make a great match."

He winked at Director Fury, a playful smirk on his face.

Black Widow's name was not subtle. She flicked Hawkeye on the forehead.

Black Widow: "Hey, what are you thinking? Is that funny?"

She flipped her hair and looked away.

Though she appeared angry, inside, she was thinking:

Captain Steve Rogers… if I get along with him…
