Chapter Four: Paranormal Realm 2
I was obviously meant to be transported to the beginning of the story when Evelyn received the moon goddess blessing, and Rowan would be in the background looking wistfully at Evelyn conversing with one of the most important people in the paranormal world, the high priestess Nerlin, that was my agreement with the Goddess/system whichever one she wants to answer. So why am I here in this bedroom strapped to the bed by my supposed mate and him glowering on me with conflicting emotions flickering in his eyes?
"I thought you'd be different from other people, I never knew you'd be worse than them," he said.
I was already shocked with the changes I'm seeing now, but to hear this from him made my heart ache. It couldn't be my heart, because I don't like him. It's not that a person being a two goody shoes is generally a bad character, but to me, I just don't like that, someone that's always good to others can always sacrifice their family and their loved ones just to satisfy the public. So it's not my heart that's aching but the original owner's heart that's aching. Maybe there's still residual feelings in his heart because they're mates.
"Are you thinking of how to lie to me again? 'Cause you don't need to do that, for I don't trust you," he said and then walked out of the room, banging the door hard, before a click sound was heard. Obviously, I've been locked in here.
What do I say now? I can't even remember his name, and I don't even know what's happening right now. This isn't in the plotline the system gave me. Yes, why am I even stressed? I just need to ask the system what's happening.
"Goddess."
"My Gorgeous Goddess."
"My gentle Goddess System, can you hear me?"
Why isn't she responding, or am I calling her in the wrong way?
"The greatest goddess…"
"Shut up!!" Is this mortal trying to draw the ire of the Lord God on me?
"No need to panic yet."
"You know this is my first time being a system."
"Yes, bu…"
"You don't need to say anything more, just answer yes or yes."
"That's unfair, the options are only yes…"
"I don't need your opinion. If I hadn't set the system to be systematic, why would I have to explain everything to you? You can just shut up now. Since it's my first time being a system, mistakes are bound to happen."
I thought immortals are meant to be perfect, so what was I paired with now? In other stories, their systems are omnipotent and perfect. Mine is filled with glitches here and there.
"If you don't stop musing nonsense in your head now, I won't explain anything and just let you navigate this world on your own, and then you'd definitely be killed faster than the original owner of the body was killed."
That was enough to keep my mouth and thoughts sealed quickly.
"So… Since I'm somewhat of a newbie in the game, I may or may not have made a mistake somewhere, and if you had just kept quiet, I would have found out where the mistake was made and fixed it. But no!! You just had to shout my name and almost get me into huge trouble."
"I'm sorry."
"But does that mean that things are no longer going according to the previous plotline of the world's story?"
"No, the original plotline is still somewhat intact, just that some things may have changed. You have to find out what changed, and if it's fixable, you fix it. If it's not, you just need to stick to the original mission of surviving." That's what you get for distracting me. Anyway, I'm too lazy to figure out what is wrong, or else it's a danger to what we've come to this world to do.
"Wait! Wait a minute, I thought I'm not here to play the hero. I don't want to have to think about my every action if I play the hero. It's already bad enough that I'm still tied up… can you please untie me?"
"Of course not. All your actions must be explainable to logic, and me helping you is not a logical action to take. Don't worry, I promise you won't die this soon into the story."
"I can't believe this is happening. So what do I do now?" I questioned, frustration lacing through my voice. I do like being tied up, but not in this sort of situation where my life and death are being questioned.
"Let's just wait and see."
"So you don't know what to do now? I can't believe you're this unreliable."
"Shush, shush. Someone is coming," she quickly exhales. She isn't the Lord God, so of course, she's not omnipotent.
"Is it the original owner's mate?" I asked. I was really scared he might come back. Right now, his actions are very unpredictable.
"Shush, the person is close." She couldn't obviously tell him that her knowledge is limited to what he sees. He'll definitely look down on her, so this information will definitely not be leaving her mouth.
"You really have a bad memory. The name of the previous owner's mate is Gabe. Get it into your thick skull."
"You only gave me the plotline, not the original owner's memories, so how am I expected to know who's who?"
The sound of the door breaking was heard, shocking both Rowan and the goddess.
Then three people rushed in. A beautiful woman—no, using the term beautiful is too weak of a word to describe the appearance of the woman that just came in—and based on her stance, it's obviously her that broke down the door. The woman stood at a height of 6ft5, much taller than girls around him in his home world. Her height didn't make her look weird; instead, she gave off the vibe of a supermodel. With her dressed in a skintight jumpsuit that accented her curves, even with no makeup done, she's a Ten. The two males that came in with her were of the same frame, slightly shorter than the woman, but still looked like Adonis.
"Oh my gosh! If people of this world look this good, I wonder how I look. Anyways, I'm okay as long as my body is intact. I don't want to experience that situation of not feeling anything at all. That shit scares me, but I wouldn't mind if I looked like them." This was what I was thinking when I felt a searing headache threatening to tear my brain into mush.
I couldn't help but let out a painful grunt.
