Chapter 85 - Acquaintance

The guard's footsteps were firm; he didn't look at any particular room, but advanced towards one with a pace as if the distance had been precisely measured.

The surging crowd watched the guard lead Fulen, dressed in black with an iron mask; some were surprised, while others were indifferent. In the eyes of those who cared, there was mockery, confusion, but most of all, envy.

Fulen observed the expressions of the people in the Bazaar and had a few guesses, so he asked, "Mr. Guard, how did you know I was here for the Extraordinary Gathering?"

"Mask, Iron Cross Badge, Mark." The guard leading the way replied with little emotional fluctuation.

Fulen nodded to himself, confirming his guess. Although iron masks were uncommon, some people wore them at the Extraordinary Bazaar. And the Cross Badge was impossible; only Cross Badge holders could come here. So, what exactly did the Mark refer to? Was it the mark on the Iron Cross Badge? The mark on the iron mask? Or both?

As soon as he saw a question that could be investigated, Fulen always thought about it immediately. For a Beyonder who was not good at using force, investigating in advance was a good habit, because there were too many accidents in the world, and those things might take the life of a weak person like him.

However, facing the answer to this question, Fulen was not familiar with their rules and could only vaguely guess where the mentioned Mark might be. The password was like a black box; outsiders could only see the results of their operation, but it was difficult to guess their specific principles.

Also, what the guard said might have been a misleading answer. They might not rely on these to identify participants of the Extraordinary Gathering. Perhaps there had always been spies or Beyonder powers monitoring him, then informing the guards. Fulen did not have the means to probe those skilled in scrying techniques, nor the power to discern the myriad Beyonder abilities of this world, so he could only guess blindly here.

Soon, as the armor on the guard in front clanked, Fulen looked up. The guard stood at attention, the clanking sound coming from his salute. Next to him was a Door, and it was obvious that an Extraordinary Gathering was taking place inside.

Seeing that the taciturn guard no longer spoke, Fulen did not force him to speak and casually pushed open the large Door.

As mentioned earlier, the Extraordinary Gathering at the Flame-Axe Tavern indeed surpassed other Extraordinary Gatherings. The first thing Fulen saw in the room was a huge blackboard, densely covered with demands and supplies.

"Companion Flower born from Meteorite Crystal radiation, 100 pounds per flower."

"Star Crystal, 5 pounds per gram."

"Tail feather of an Arsonist Bird, 200 pounds."

...

At first glance at the Beyonder materials on the large blackboard, Fulen's breathing quickened slightly. The Companion Flower born from Meteorite Crystal radiation was one of the auxiliary materials for Fulen's next level Potion, the Astrologer, and the price seemed slightly lower than the normal price.

Fulen did not let impulse destroy his rationality. When Fulen saw something he had been seeking suddenly appear before his eyes, and in a very conspicuous way that made him notice, the Beyonder material on the first line of the blackboard immediately made Fulen suspicious.

Calm down, calm down. First, let's see what the buying rules are here. Right, let's walk around first and sit on a chair before doing anything else. Fulen suppressed his urge to look for someone who specifically watched other people's reactions among the buyers. He just roughly scanned the room, looked at the general layout, and then sat down at an empty table.

This Extraordinary Gathering was mainly centered around a huge blackboard. In front of the blackboard, a flamboyant auctioneer in a red mask and golden trench coat was presiding over the Extraordinary Gathering, while waiters moved through various parts of the room.

As soon as Fulen sat down, a waiter handed him a piece of paper with the rules of the Extraordinary Gathering written on it. Fulen took it and his gaze swept over the rules, but in his mind, he slowly reviewed the details of the room he had just browsed.

Frowning, Fulen realized that things were not simple. Everyone was just looking at Fulen with a scrutinizing gaze. Perhaps Fulen's stay was not long, and it did not attract the attention of the searchers, or perhaps there were no searchers among these customers.

As for which faction the searchers belonged to? That would definitely be the Demoness Sect and mercenaries eyeing bounties. Although Fulen didn't quite understand the current situation, he could be certain that the Abraham Family's situation had not yet reached complete safety. Based on Fulen's understanding of Amadi, if the crisis had passed, the new elder in charge would definitely notify everyone to hold a family gathering.

Without carefully reading the rules on the paper, Fulen looked at the supply section of the blackboard. Corresponding to the Companion Flower of the Meteorite Crystal was a commission to find members of the Abraham Family. The clue had risen to 15 pounds per clue. Finding a member of the Abraham Family offered a Potion formula plus the secret of the Potion Pathway plus 1000 pounds, or a direct payment of 3000 pounds.

...This is truly outrageous. Fulen's head ached. What a truly tempting bounty. If Klein saw this, he would probably drool to death. The Demoness Sect is actually so rich and powerful, it's truly unimaginable.

It seems the situation is indeed very grim. However, since the mission is still active, it means no one has been exposed, which is good.

Another detail that caught Fulen's attention was that in the room, Fulen actually saw an acquaintance. He was wearing a string of beads strung with kumquat flowers on his hand. This person was Kvedo Haimer, whom Fulen hadn't seen in a long time.

At this moment, Kvedo made Fulen feel a bit unfamiliar. His enthusiasm seemed to have completely transformed into a deep, profound abyss. Although he didn't speak at the time, Fulen could instinctively tell from his sitting posture and manner of conversation that he was very different from the Kvedo in Fulen's memory.

One's temperament can generally be discerned. Although Fulen's talent in this area wasn't particularly sharp, he could more or less sense it. Just like the Kvedo in Fulen's memory, his enthusiasm came from the heart. Erich, on the other hand, was outwardly cold but actually enjoyed sharing his knowledge. Karl felt inherently aloof but pure-hearted. As for Amadi, he seemed erratic but could take responsibility in times of crisis and would never flee from battle.

But the Kvedo Fulen saw today was full of coldness, and his posture revealed an indifferent attitude. And the person next to him, judging by his physique, was definitely not Erich or Karl. He was even colder. Even through memory, Fulen could feel that he resembled an enraged Sam somewhat; both were ruthless individuals who wouldn't bat an eye at killing.

Fulen shook his head, "Heh, maybe I was mistaken. I'm quite accurate at judging people, so it shouldn't be Kvedo. I'm thinking too much. I can't reminisce anymore, or I'll look at my enthusiastic friend with prejudice."
