Chapter 142 - [142] Valentine's Day Chaos Unleashed

Lockhart?

Argus saw the slight anxiety in his eyes and immediately understood what he meant.

I'm sending myself Galleons!

Wand and cloak!

Both items had been repaired long ago, but the acolytes had studied them more thoroughly, which took a little longer.

"Professor Lockhart has something to do, so go and help him. I'm leaving now!" Hermione was very sensible; she gave Argus a few words of advice and then reluctantly left.

He followed Lockhart all the way to his office.

Before Lockhart could speak, Argus took a small suitcase out of his pocket.

"Engorgio!"

Once the suitcase was returned to its original state, Argus took out his wand and cloak and placed them in front of Lockhart.

"Professor Lockhart, your wand and cloak."

"It took a little longer because I increased the power of the spell."

"Increased power!"

Upon hearing this, Lockhart's dissatisfaction vanished instantly!

Upon seeing the exquisite patterns on the wand and cloak, he immediately beamed with joy!

What he likes most is something that looks very luxurious.

Whether it's useful or not is another matter; the main thing is that it looks cool!

Lockhart couldn't wait to pick up his wand and try it out.

He aimed at the flowerpot on the table!

Boom!

A flash of red light, and the flowerpot on the table shattered!

"It's really powerful!"

Lockhart looked delighted and stroked the wand affectionately.

The way he looked at it was like he was gazing at his beloved!

He was afraid that he might accidentally scratch it.

Argus was speechless.

You actually believed what I was telling you!

What can you test on something that can be broken with a simple drop?

Only someone as clueless as you wouldn't be able to tell!

However, he maintained an elegant smile on his face.

He said, "Professor Lockhart, it doesn't belong to you yet."

"Not mine?"

Lockhart paused for a moment, then realized what was happening.

With a pained expression, he took a bag out of his suitcase and placed it on the table.

"One hundred thousand Galleons; you count them."

Argus quietly activated his Legilimency.

Intending to check if any Galleons in the bag were missing, he discovered something even more interesting.

A slight smile played at the corners of his lips.

"No need, Professor Lockhart. I trust your reputation."

"If there's nothing else, I'll head back to my dorm."

"Oh, right, Professor!" Argus suddenly turned around, startling Lockhart.

"Next time you want to launch a sneak attack, you'd better not reveal your intentions so obviously."

As soon as Argus finished speaking, he cast a silent Expelliarmus with a flick of his wrist!

Bang!

Lockhart had just touched his wand and before he could react, he was blasted to the ground!

The excruciating pain emanating from all parts of his body caused him to convulse.

"Besides..."

"Do you think the acolytes would let you off the hook if something happened to me in your office?"

Argus still wore that elegant smile.

The cold glint in his eyes made Lockhart's hair stand on end!

He couldn't understand where he had been exposed, or how Argus had noticed him!

Not only had Argus noticed, but he had been caught red-handed!

But right now, he didn't have time to think about those things.

Saving his life was the most important thing!

Lockhart racked his brains and stammered, "I... I just wanted to see what the difference was between the two wands."

"Yes, I want to see the difference in the wand!"

"Is that so?" Argus looked at him with a half-smile.

He pulled his wand from his sleeve and aimed it at Lockhart.

"If I remember correctly, Professor Lockhart, you should be the Defense Against the Dark Arts professor."

"Please enlighten your student on the differences between the three Unforgivable Curses!"

As he spoke, a ghastly green light emanated from Argus's wand.

Lockhart panicked completely; cold sweat poured down his forehead and his face turned deathly pale.

No! You can't do that!

"I am a professor at Hogwarts, your teacher!"

"I am a recipient of the Order of Merlin, Third Class, and an honorary member of the League Against the Dark Arts. If you use the Unforgivable Curse on me, the Ministry of Magic will not let you off the hook!"

Argus scoffed and ignored him.

Lockhart was so frightened that he backed away, covered his eyes with his hands, and dared not look at Argus's wand.

He yelled at the top of his lungs, "I still have 50,000 Galleons in my suitcase!"

"Buy my life!"

Argus put away his wand and chuckled, "Congratulations, Professor Lockhart."

"You've found your only chance to survive."

Lockhart, who had narrowly escaped death, was soaked in cold sweat.

He collapsed onto the ground, panting heavily.

Upon noticing Argus's icy gaze, he scrambled to his suitcase and chanted the incantation to open it.

He took a bag out of the box and placed it on the table.

He then crouched down to the side with a look of fear on his face, not even picking up his wand, giving Argus no chance to retaliate.

Argus didn't say anything more and picked up the two bags on the table.

He gave Lockhart a warning look.

He turned and left the office.

He never intended to kill Lockhart.

Killing someone at Hogwarts is tantamount to courting death.

Argus knew Dumbledore's bottom line very well: as long as he didn't do it openly or leave any evidence of using Dark Arts.

Dumbledore wouldn't easily harm him.

On the contrary, if Dumbledore found even the slightest relevant evidence, he would mercilessly eliminate him!

Would he risk his life to trade one life for a swindler?

Argus wasn't that stupid!

"It's a pity Lockhart still has a large number of Galleons at Gringotts; otherwise, he would definitely have extracted them all from him this time!"

Only at this moment did he stop his Legilimency.

His brain felt slightly throbbing.

Fortunately, there were no classes in the afternoon, so Argus went back to his dorm and slept all afternoon before he was able to recover.

Classes proceeded as normal the next day.

...

February 14th, Valentine's Day.

The Great Hall of Hogwarts was decorated with countless pink flowers.

The original starry sky ceiling had been replaced with a peach-shaped heart!

At the center of each house's long table stood a statue of Cupid, holding his love arrows aimed at the boys and girls at the table.

This drew gasps of surprise.

Argus knew without even thinking who was behind it.

Gilderoy Lockhart!

"He was too lenient. If he had remembered Lockhart would pull this stunt on Valentine's Day, he should have been more forceful a few days ago."

"At least let him lie in bed until Valentine's Day!"

In the original story, today was Harry's death day, but it seemed like it had been changed to someone else now...

He simply glanced around and noticed that many little witches were secretly casting their gazes at him.

Many people were still clutching letters and gifts in their hands.

The purpose couldn't be clearer.

"Hey little wizards, today is a big day!"

Lockhart made a dazzling entrance, dressed in a pink robe and draped in the cloak Argus had given him.

Behind him followed twelve dwarves with golden wings and gloomy faces.

Some of the dwarves were carrying harps, while others were carrying bows and arrows.

Clearly, these were the "Cupids" that Lockhart had prepared for the young wizards at Hogwarts!

"Any little wizard who wants to send a love letter to their beloved can simply hand it to our little Cupid!"

"Of course, you can give it to them secretly!"

Lockhart announced loudly, "Now, it's time for the much-anticipated message delivery!"
