Chapter 144 - [144] Argus, the Scapegoat Savior

"Hagrid!"

Harry couldn't believe his ears and sat up abruptly.

He stared at Ron in disbelief.

"How...how could it be him?"

"The Daily Prophet published a special report about him before, which included a photo of the Minister of Magic personally apologizing to him!"

"If we go to him, we're sure to learn a lot about what happened back then!"

Ron's resolute statement made Harry hesitate.

"But...but..."

Harry still remembered the time Ron reported Hagrid for secretly keeping dragons.

Although nothing serious happened in the end, it was still a betrayal of a friend.

Throughout his subsequent interactions with Hagrid, he always felt a sense of guilt.

Try not to bother the other person!

"No buts! The sooner we find out the truth, the sooner we can prove your identity!"

"Don't you have an Invisibility Cloak? We'll go get it in a bit!"

Ron became more and more excited as he spoke.

He had already begun to fantasize about being worshipped by countless classmates after uncovering the truth and exposing the evil Slytherin.

Harry couldn't resist Ron's stubbornness. After everyone in the Gryffindor common room fell asleep, Harry put on his Invisibility Cloak and quietly went to Hagrid's Hut with Ron.

"Who's outside!"

Hagrid patrols the forbidden forest year-round and has exceptionally sharp reflexes.

Hearing a noise outside the door, he grabbed a giant crossbow from the wall, aimed it at the door, and shouted angrily.

Bang!

After a long silence, Hagrid couldn't resist kicking the door open.

He scanned the surroundings with a crossbow.

Who is it? Is anyone there?

"It's us, Hagrid!"

Harry lifted his Invisibility Cloak, fearing that Hagrid might accidentally shoot them.

Hagrid breathed a sigh of relief and casually tossed the crossbow bolts aside.

"Oh, it's you. Come in quickly, I just brewed a pot of tea."

"You must be hungry to come so late?"

"Would you like some rock cakes?"

"No need, Hagrid, we've come to see you on important business!" Harry said.

Do you know who opened the Chamber of Secrets?

Hagrid's hand, which was pouring tea, froze. He placed the teapot on the table and said with a serious expression, "Harry, this is not something you should be involved with."

"Trust Headmaster Dumbledore, he will handle it!"

"Hagrid, we can't let that evil Slytherin continue in the school..."

"Ron!"

Harry realized something was wrong the moment Ron spoke.

He instinctively covered Ron's mouth to stop him from continuing.

Hagrid frowned. "The evil Slytherin? You mean Argus?"

"It can't be him!"

"He wasn't even born when that incident happened! Let alone now!"

"I believe that, given his personality, he would never do such a thing!"

When Argus was mentioned, Hagrid's attitude immediately changed completely.

He stopped pouring tea and offering the rock cakes.

His eyes were full of protectiveness.

"Hagrid, Ron didn't mean that!"

Harry tried to explain for his best friend, but Ron's interruptions only made things worse.

Left with no other choice, they had to leave.

"It's all that evil Slytherin's fault! If it weren't for him, we would definitely have gotten information from Hagrid!"

Ron muttered to himself as he walked, blaming all the failures on Argus.

As they walked, a beam of light caught their attention.

The two looked closely and saw that Arthur Weasley's flying car had inexplicably appeared in front of them.

"Harry, look! It's my dad's flying car!"

Ron shook Harry's arm in delight.

"The Ministry of Magic came last time but couldn't find it. If we can bring it back, maybe I'll get scolded less when I get home!"

"Quick, quick, let's find a place to hide it!"

"It's too late, Ron, should we..."

As they were talking, Ron had already run after it.

Harry stamped his feet in frustration, gritted his teeth, and chased after him.

But with their legs and no magic, catching up with the flying car was an almost impossible task.

"Ron, we've gone too far. Any deeper and we'll be entering the Forbidden Forest!"

"Shall we invite Hagrid to come over tomorrow morning?"

"Who knows where it will run off to tomorrow? If we don't find a place to hide it today, it will be hard to find it again!"

Ron was unwilling to give up, but when he looked up at the dark Forbidden Forest, hesitation appeared in his eyes.

"We only chased it to the outer edge of the Forbidden Forest. If it runs any further in, we'll go back and deal with it tomorrow."

Harry sighed and could only nod and follow.

The two entered the Forbidden Forest and walked for an unknown distance.

The surrounding area was dimly visible only a few meters away.

"Look! There's the flying car!"

"Let's drive it back to Hagrid's cabin and have Hagrid take a look at it for us."

"I'll write a letter to my dad and ask him to come and take the car away."

Ron strode forward.

Completely unaware of the rustling footsteps surrounding them.

...

Slytherin Common Room.

Argus had just put down his book and was about to rest.

A flash of light suddenly appeared in mid-air.

Fawkes placed a note on the table, gesturing for Argus to look at it.

What could be going on in the middle of the night?

Argus frowned and reached for the note.

There is only one sentence above.

"Harry is in danger in the Forbidden Forest."

"Forbidden Forest? What would he be doing there so late at night?" Argus was even more annoyed after seeing the information on the note.

You knew he was in danger, so why didn't you go yourself?

Does he really expect me to clean up his mess?

Just because of our deal, you think I'll clean up the mess instead of doing it myself?

Argus was seething with hatred, but Fawkes didn't give him a chance to delay.

Its claws grabbed Argus's sleeve, and it vanished from the dormitory in an instant.

When Argus opened his eyes again, the man and the bird had already arrived in the Forbidden Forest.

Harry and Ron are surrounded by countless Acromantulas, and they are driving their flying car recklessly, trying to break through their encirclement.

However, there were too many eight-eyed giant spiders around, and the Forbidden Forest was overgrown with bushes.

The flying car can't even take off; it can't get out of there at all!

"No, if we attack directly, it will be difficult for Harry and the others to escape."

"Fawkes, you know where Aragog is, right?"

Fawkes looked at Argus with a puzzled expression, seemingly not understanding what he was saying.

Argus wasn't sure if Fawkes couldn't understand him or if he didn't know what Aragog was.

He described it in more detail.

"Aragog is the leader of this group of giant spiders. Do you know its location?"

Fawkes nodded and grabbed Argus again.

With a flash of fire, Argus appeared inside a cave.

The entire cave was surrounded by spider webs, and thick tree roots were intertwined.

An enormous, eight-eyed spider, unlike anything he had ever seen before, appeared before him.

Who's here?

"Hagrid? Is that you?"

"Incendio!"

Without saying a word, Argus set fire to everything around him, burning it to the ground.

He knew this giant spider's nature all too well!

Who knows how many dirty things Hagrid secretly did in the Forbidden Forest!

They have no concept of humanity; they are just a bunch of beasts!

With them, there's no need for communication, just fists!

Aragog was caught off guard by the sudden burst of flames and hurriedly retreated.

Before it could even take two steps...

A thick beam of red light appeared!

"Expelliarmus!"

Snap!

Argus didn't want it dead, so he slammed a full-force blow into its leg, which it hadn't had time to pull away from.

Pale green blood gushed out from the severed leg!

Aragog let out a heart-wrenching wail!

"I don't have time to waste with your words. Listen, I'll only say this once!"

"Now, bring all your descendants back!"
