Chapter 5 - Chapter 5: So It Begins

It's time.

The clock hits 06:30 AM.

A knock echoes through the hallway. Their squire stands outside, ready to wake them up — only to open the door and freeze.

They're already up. Dressed. Shoes on. Waiting.

No one says it out loud, but it's clear: they're serious. Not because they know what's coming — they don't. But because they're together. And together, they feel like they can handle anything.

Cookie clears his throat.

Cookie: "Uh… hello everyone. My name is Cookie. I'll be your squire during your training period."

Leilla's eyes light up instantly.

Leilla: "Cookieee? That's such a cute name, haha. Welcome buddy. Everyone's ready, right? Let's go eat breakfast together."

Malak doesn't even try to hold it in.

Malak: "HAHAHAHA — Cookie look! Cookies for breakfast! What a coincidence!"

Rose suddenly leans forward, dead serious.

Rose: "I'M GONNA EAT YOU, COOKIE. LOOK." Bite. Bite.

Cookie's smile twitches. His eye literally twitches.

He turns toward Ari, clearly questioning his life choices.

Ari meets his gaze. No joke. No comment. Just a small smile. Like saying: It's fine. You're safe.

That alone comforts him.

Breakfast is bungie bings — one of those rare Empyrean mornings where health is ignored completely. Sweet chocolate milk, cookies, honey-soaked cakes, dates, candy. Once in a while, Empyrea chooses chaos.

08:00 AM – Gym

Coach Braum waits for them.

Each week, the training will intensify. The workouts will get brutal — but so will the recovery. This place isn't normal. The food, the rest, the system… all designed to push them fast.

Week one starts simple: Warm-up. Push. Pull. Legs. CrossFit.

Adjusted to each person's limits.

Name / Age: Leilla Brown / 27

Continent / City: Empyrea / Dawn

Leilla is brown-eyed, short-haired, 180 cm, 71 kg. Athletic, composed, and dependable. High potential to reach advanced tiers. Calm under pressure, naturally supportive.

Major flaw: history of addiction. Three relapses recorded. A major emotional trigger could cause regression.

Leilla dominates the session.

She moves like she's already been here before. Sixty push-ups without stopping. Sixty squats. Twenty pull-ups. Right after their initial workout.

No hesitation.

Ari keeps pace with her — strong, controlled, efficient. Rose and Malak, on the other hand… struggle. Hard.

Braum watches in silence, arms crossed.

Then:

Braum: "Leilla Brown… impressive."

Leilla exhales. Just once.

10:00 AM – Lecture

The early wake-up, the sugar-heavy breakfast, the brutal workout — it all hits at once.

Heads drop. Eyes blur.

The first hour is basic introduction. Stuff they already know.

The second hour changes tone.

The instructor straightens.

"Everything in Gift Society comes down to one thing."

"If you survive,"

"you are responsible for those who didn't."

12:00 PM – Lunch

Rose stares at her plate.

Rose: "Oh my god… what is this? It looks so good."

Ari leans in slightly.

Ari: "Smells good too."

They eat.

And suddenly — the fatigue is gone. The soreness fades. Their bodies feel… full. Complete. Like nothing happened.

In Gift Society, the head chef is gifted. His ability turns food into something more. Once consumed, it spreads through the blood — healing muscles, nerves, everything.

One downside.

People get addicted.

Name / Age: Rose Ramsey / 16

Continent / City: Solara / Sun City

Pink hair, blue eyes. 151 cm, 42 kg. Physically limited. Shy, awkward, socially fragile. Others tend to pity her.

Potential: severely limited unless exceptional performance is demonstrated in tests.

14:00 – Simulation Training

The doors slide open.

Ari: "What is this place…?"

Cookie: "Simulation room. Controlled by Queen Elara."

Pure white walls. One door. Bright lights.

Cookie positions them at the center — then steps out. The door seals shut.

A presence fills the room.

She appears.

Queen Elara.

Silver hair. Green eyes. Black G.S. uniform. Perfect. Unreal.

Elara: "Welcome to my world. This is not me. The real Queen is elsewhere."

Her voice echoes calmly.

Malak: "Ugh... wanted to ask her something—"

"In this room, you'll go places you've never been. Don't be scared. Be confident."

"You are immortal here. You cannot die, but you will feel everything."

Rose stiffens.

"First quest."

A small screen appears. A dog.

"This dog will die in four hours."

A vial materializes.

"Find him. Give him this medicine."

She smiles faintly.

"Disclaimer: the dog is gifted. You will experience death. Multiple times."

Silence.

"Failure means no dinner."

She looks at her watch.

"Time starts — NOW."

All four: "WAIT—"

The world snaps.

They're standing in a crowded street — noise, people everywhere. No dog. No timer in sight.

Rose swallows.

Leilla scans the crowd.

Ari exhales slowly.

Four hours. One dog. No plan yet.

Will they eat tonight…or fall asleep hungry?
