STOOOP!!
HAVE MERCY ON ME!!!
AAAAAAAAHH!!
"Shut up!! You piece of shit."
A man sitting on a black wooden chair said, with a great smile carved on his face, while twisting a rusty sword embedded in the Baron's shoulder.
He lifted the head of the other man lying on the dusty floor, tied in the spiky vines of a hard tree.
"P-Pleeaaase... I don't want to die."
The Baron begged desperately, pain spreading through every part of his body.
Once a noble known as Baron Corbin Kentucky de Venta, he had now lost everything he owned. His very own estate had been burned down to ashes by the man who had been torturing him nonstop for two straight days.
He could not move a single finger as numbness and excruciating pain spread across his back, the spikes of the vines digging into his skin.
"I don't know who you are, but let me rest now. I can't take it anymore!!"
He shouted in agony, his voice cracking from a sore throat and dry lips, longing more for death than this hellish pain.
The man smiled again and stared at him sharply, releasing immense pressure that sent shivers through the Baron.
"As if I'd listen to a word from your filthy mouth. He he..."
He said with a silent chuckle.
"Hahahahahaha... Oh my, this is so much fun. Doing this to a noble. He is making a poorer and weaker face than those living on the streets."
Holding his stomach, he thought that it had already been two days since he set fire to the noble's estate, and he had not eaten nor rested a single second.
"Oh, I just realized now... You are so resilient for a fool, you know that? Even after I cut every finger on both your feet and both your ears, you're still alive!"
He said, sitting flat on the chair.
Waiting for the Baron to fall asleep.
Minutes passed, but the Baron was still awake, mumbling about wanting his life to end so he could rest.
"Hmmm, you know what? I think it would be more fun if you learned some things about me. Your brain is still alive, right?"
He whispered to the Baron.
"A-Ah-Ahhhh!!"
The Baron screamed.
He stepped back.
"Woah, woah. Chill, don't be so excited."
He said.
They were inside an abandoned house on top of a dry mountain.
No trees around, nor any animals alive. Only birds in the sky passing by, looking below with no hope of finding prey.
He walked over and opened a window, smiling with his eyes as he stared up at the sky.
"Haaaaaaah!!"
He shouted loudly, his echo reaching distant caves.
He is Janus Velor, once a noble with the title of Viscount.
But his life changed after he died 203 years ago in an execution because of his crimes.
After that, he thought he would die without even leaving a name behind.
But only seconds after his death, his eyes opened, and the scenery was different.
His body felt light, and his voice was not his own.
Until he discovered that he lived again, but in another body, or so he thought at first.
Then he lived like a normal human, starting his life as someone who left his past behind.
But after his death again, he opened his eyes and was in a different body once more.
After realizing this, he no longer thought of living a normal life again, because his existence was already abnormal.
He collected information, but no one knew about his condition.
The only thing he knew was that after death, he would live again in a different body.
A body with no identity, no name, and no belongings.
Time passed so fast that he died multiple times, waking as a man, a child, a woman, and even becoming an animal of different ages.
This ability was not a curse, but a cause for him to change his mindset and how he understood himself.
Not a human, man, woman, or animal, but a soul with no place to rest.
Thoughts began to spark in Janus's mind.
"Why do I need to live multiple times if I don't even get to enjoy it?"
Thus, Janus decided to be a hypocrite, the most common trait all beings possess.
A trait Janus himself enjoyed using, not for himself, but against those who possessed it as well.
---
He closed the window.
He walked back and noticed that the Baron was already dead.
"What a boomer. Looks like I needed to move..."
His words cut off as his vision became blurry.
Then he collapsed due to lack of sleep and hunger.
He died.
And after ten minutes, he woke up again.
Inside a cave, Janus smiled.
Walking with no clothes, a slim body yet with a healthy look.
The cave was dark, bats screaming.
Water droplets echoed.
Then Janus walked with a blank expression.
Out of the cave.
The sunlight gave a nostalgic glamour to the eyes.
Trees danced with the warm wind.
Grass covered the muddy ground with its green body.
Janus found a pond and used it as a mirror.
His eyes widened, not in shock, but in surprise.
"This is the most perfect compared to those average bodies I had, not to mention having a animal's body is..."
He thought, touching his face and checking every part of his body.
This body was what he truly wanted to have. A healthy, beautiful body to use for his plans.
He smirked as he stood, stretching his arms and cracking his back.
Minutes passed as he appeared as a young man with a handsome face and shiny blond curly hair.
He spotted a small village below the mountain.
He saw people smiling without hidden constraint, and children freely idling around, playing without fear.
Janus felt no relief upon seeing it.
"No matter how happy those souls are, that smile will soon fade."
He thought as he clenched his teeth.
Janus sneaked into the village through a small hole in its wooden walls.
He stole clothes and tried to act as normal as possible, as if he had lived in the village for years.
Everyone who passed by and caught a glimpse of his face stopped and stared in awe.
"Woah, do I know that face?"
They murmured.
But he was able to act not ignorant of the new things he saw. He observed and learned without a trace of confusion on his face.
Thus, Janus began a new life, yet his current goals were still in progress.
Even he himself did not know why he liked destroying nobles, but he knew that he did not oppose their actions.
But he was certain that this was what gave him a sense of being alive and allowed him to experience true emotions through the stimulation of watching, hearing, and seeing them suffer.
