Chapter 55 - CHAPTER 55: UNEXPECTED NEWS

KISS'S POV

The city lights glimmered through Augustina's penthouse windows as I stepped inside, the warm scent of vanilla and freshly polished wood greeting me. She was lounging on the sofa, scrolling on her tablet, completely absorbed in whatever the world had thrown at her today.

"Hey, stranger," I said, dropping my bag by the door and walking over.

Augustina looked up, smiling lazily. "Kiss! Finally! I thought you got lost in that maze they call City V."

I laughed, easing onto the sofa beside her.

"Traffic was a nightmare, but I wouldn't miss our little catch-up for anything."

We spent the next few minutes chatting about mundane things—fashion, the city's latest gossip, and her constant teasing about Adrian's overprotectiveness.

Eventually, the conversation drifted to them.

"So… when are you two moving to the next stage?" I asked softly, careful not to sound too nosy.

Augustina rolled her eyes playfully. "You mean… making it official?"

I nodded. "Yes. You guys have been dancing around it forever. It's about time."

She leaned back, a wistful smile tugging at her lips. "I know, Kiss. I know. Isaac's… complicated. But I think we're ready. Really ready."

I reached for her hand, squeezing it gently. "I'm so happy for you, Augustina. You two are perfect for each other."

She laughed softly, a sound filled with warmth and love. "Thanks, Kiss. That means a lot coming from you."

Just as I was about to ask her more about their plans, Augustina stood up to get coffee from the kitchen. She swayed slightly as she walked, and I frowned.

"Careful," I warned, rising. "You okay?"

"I'm fine, just a little dizzy lately. Don't worry about me," she replied, waving me off.

But my instincts screamed otherwise.

Seconds later, I heard a thud.

"Augustina!" I screamed, rushing forward to find her sprawled on the floor, her eyes fluttering and her hand pressed to her head.

Panic clawed at my chest.

"Stay with me! Stay with me!" I shouted, fumbling for my phone. I dialed Adrian first.

"Adrian! She—Augustina just collapsed! I think something's wrong!" My voice trembled, tears forming.

"I'm on my way," he said instantly, calm but commanding. "Tell me where you are, and stay with her."

I hung up, my heart racing. My hands shook as I tried to keep Augustina conscious, talking to her, holding her hand. Then I dialed Isaac, my voice breaking.

"Isaac! Hurry! She's—she's collapsed!"

Minutes later, they both arrived, Adrian rushing in first, his sharp eyes scanning the scene, while Isaac's face drained of color as he knelt beside her.

"Augustina," Isaac whispered, his hand on her forehead. "Talk to me. Can you hear me?"

She stirred slightly, a faint groan escaping her lips. Relief washed over me, though tension still gripped my chest.

Adrian's gaze met mine, dark and focused. "Kiss, stay calm. Breathe."

I nodded, forcing myself to take deep breaths. But my thoughts were spinning. What if it was serious? What if something was wrong?

An hour later, after an ambulance rushed her to the hospital, we all waited in the sterile white lobby, tension thick in the air. Isaac paced, his hands clenching and unclenching, while Adrian leaned against the wall, jaw tight, silent but unyielding.

"Why is this taking so long?" Isaac muttered, running a hand through his hair.

"She's stable, Isaac," Adrian said quietly, but his eyes betrayed his worry.

I sank into a chair, my hands trembling. "I can't believe this… what if…" My voice broke.

"Shh," Adrian said softly, kneeling beside me, placing a hand over mine. "We'll know soon. Right now, she's in capable hands."

The door to the doctor's office finally opened, and the physician stepped out, his expression unreadable. My stomach dropped.

"Doctor," Isaac breathed, leaning forward, voice taut.

The doctor paused, letting the tension build, then spoke slowly.

"Ms Hill… is five weeks pregnant."

Silence. Absolute, stunned silence.

I froze, staring at him. My hand went to my mouth, shock radiating through me. Adrian's sharp gaze softened, but I could see the flicker of surprise in his eyes.

"What… what did you say?" Isaac's voice cracked, disbelief mixed with awe.

The doctor nodded. "Five weeks pregnant.

Everything appears normal so far.

Congratulations are in order."

For a moment, none of us knew how to react. Then, Adrian's lips quirked slightly, a rare, soft smile breaking his usually stoic demeanor. He placed a hand on Isaac's shoulder.

"Congratulations," he said quietly. "Looks like you're going to be a father, Isaac."

Augustina, still pale but starting to regain some color, managed a weak laugh. "I guess we are… isn't this… amazing?"

Isaac, overwhelmed, sat down hard in a chair, burying his face in his hands, muttering, "Oh my God… I'm going to be a dad…"

I stood beside them, tears threatening to spill, overwhelmed by the joy radiating in the room. "You two… this is incredible. You're going to be amazing parents."

Adrian's hand briefly rested on my shoulder.

"They'll need support," he said softly, though his tone carried more than just words — it carried reassurance, confidence, and a shared sense of relief.

Augustina smiled, squeezing Isaac's hand tightly. "I'm glad you're both here. I… I don't think I could've done this without you."

Isaac finally lifted his head, eyes glistening. "We'll face this together," he said. "All of it. I promise."

I looked at them, at the love and fear and excitement radiating from both, and I couldn't help but smile. Life was chaotic, unpredictable, sometimes terrifying—but in moments like this, it was also beautiful.

Adrian, standing beside me, whispered softly, almost to himself, "Life keeps throwing us challenges… but at least, some are worth celebrating."

I nodded, squeezing his hand in return, letting the warmth of the moment ground me.

Somewhere in the tension and fear, in the waiting and uncertainty, a new chapter had begun. For Isaac and Augustina, for their future family, and for all of us tied together in this intricate web of love, power, and loyalty.
