Panther and his friends stood outside the room, whispering among themselves.
"Who is she really?" Dion asked. "And how did she even survive in that house?"
"It's not like she has the courage we do," Louice added.
Panther frowned. "I think the 'ghost' everyone saw… was actually her."
Both of them looked at him.
"But," Panther continued, "why was she saying don't kill me? I don't know why, but when I look at her… something feels strange in my head."
Dion smirked. "I think Panther is in love."
Louice laughed. "Yeah, definitely."
Panther turned red instantly. "Love? No way! I'm not falling for that scared girl."
"Oh?" Louice teased. "Then why is your face red?"
"Go away, idiots," Panther groaned. "I just need some air."
Just then, Dion leaned closer to the door. "Hey… what are they talking about inside?"
"Come on," Louice said. "Let's check."
As they moved closer, the door suddenly opened.
Panther's mother stepped out, followed by the girl.
"This is Evelyn," his mother said calmly. "From today on, she'll be living with us."
Panther froze. "What… with us?"
Lucy smiled. "She got separated from her parents. Until we find them, she'll stay here."
Panther hesitated. "It's not like I have a problem, but… do you really believe her? She isn't lying, right?"
The girl crossed her arms. "First of all, I'm not a little girl. Call me Evelyn."
She looked straight at Panther. "And I'm not lying."
Lucy nodded. "She's telling the truth, kiddo."
Then she turned toward the kitchen. "I have some work to do. You all play outside, okay?"
Louice clapped his hands. "Alright! Hey Eve, let's go wandering!"
They all headed outside.
Evelyn sat behind Panther and leaned forward slightly. "Let's go, driver," she said with a smile.
Panther groaned. "I'm not a drivera and why is she so heavy"
Their journey began—
but Panther couldn't stop thinking
