Chapter 167 - Chapter 167: The Jinchuriki's Wrath

Chapter 167: The Jinchuriki's Wrath

"What kind of abomination is that?"

"Why do those white tails feel so… malevolent?"

"The chakra… it's terrifying. It's like standing before a natural disaster."

Tsunade, Jiraiya, and Orochimaru stood together, their usual banter replaced by a cold, shared solemnity. The atmosphere around the red-armored figure was thick with a primal, hostile energy that set every instinct on edge.

"And that steam…" Tsunade's eyes narrowed, analyzing. "This Iwa-nin is nothing like their standard earth-wielders. It's a completely different signature."

Before them, the Five-Tails Jinchuriki, Gōki, was a testament to controlled monstrosity. Having partially unleashed the beast's power, three thick, powerful tails of pure white chakra-fur lashed and coiled behind him. They were not static; they writhed with a life of their own, capable of extending, thickening, or shrinking in an instant.

These tails were weapons of mass destruction on a simple scale. A casual sweep had cleared the immediate area of Konoha shinobi, sending chunin and jonin alike tumbling through the air like discarded toys. A second tail flicked downwards with whip-crack speed, and several ninjas caught in the arc were brutally smashed into the mud, bones audibly snapping. For the average genin or even unprepared chunin, a direct hit from these appendages was as lethal as most high-level ninjutsu. A tail slamming down empty onto the earth didn't just crack it; it pulverized the ground into a crater.

"When the First Hokage sought to pacify the world, he convened the Five Kage Summit," Orochimaru's voice slithered out, cool and analytical. "A secret accord was part of the peace. To maintain a balance of terror, he distributed the Tailed Beasts he had subdued among the Great Villages. To control these walking cataclysms… the Jinchuriki system was born. This… creature… is Iwagakure's vessel."

His serpentine eyes gleamed with a hot, obsessive curiosity. Anything that defied conventional biology fascinated him. These Tailed Beasts had existed since the dawn of time. How? What was their nature? Were they truly immortal? The desire to dissect, to understand that ancient essence, burned within him.

"A Tailed Beast…" Tsunade murmured, memories of her grandfather's stories surfacing through the haze of anger. "I'd nearly forgotten. But this chakra… so violent, so polluted… it can't be anything else." Her sensory abilities, honed by a lifetime as a medic-nin, screamed at the wrongness of the energy before them. If a normal shinobi's chakra was a still pond, this was a churning, toxic ocean.

"To think Iwa actually managed to weaponize one…" Jiraiya breathed, a rare note of genuine gravity in his tone.

"Damnit!" Tsunade snarled, her fists clenching until her knuckles were white. "Grandfather gave them those beasts for peace! Not so they could turn them into engines of war!"

"Hah," Orochimaru's laugh was a dry rustle. "Power of that magnitude… who would not seek to wield it? Compared to mere shinobi, a Tailed Beast is the ultimate strategic weapon. Sentiment has no place in geopolitics."

Gōki continued his slow, implacable advance. The area around him was a graveyard of groaning Konoha ninja. Even jonin found themselves outmatched. In a very real sense, a Jinchuriki leveraging their beast's power ceased to be human. They were living calamities, weapons of mass destruction with a human shell, destined for a life of isolation and a death shrouded in the darkness they carried within.

"Konoha shinobi," Gōki's voice emerged, flat and devoid of inflection, more a statement of fact than a threat. "Eliminate."

The Tailed Beast chakra suffusing him granted heightened senses. His dull eyes locked onto the trio before him. Their chakra signatures blazed like beacons amidst the lesser flames—worthy targets.

"Hateful!" Tsunade's rage, always simmering close to the surface, boiled over. "My grandfather's dream was PEACE! And you use his gift as a tool for slaughter!"

The sight of her wounded comrades, broken and bleeding in the mud, was the final spark.

"DIE!"

The roar was pure fury. She stomped down, the earth beneath her boot exploding into a crater. The resulting shockwave launched her forward like a human-sized cannon shell. Her right arm drew back, every ounce of the Senju clan's legendary "Strength of a Hundred" and her own monstrous physical power coiling into her fist. The air itself seemed to compact, then shatter as she threw the punch, the sound a deafening BOOM of compressed atmosphere detonating.

Gōki's emotionless eyes didn't even blink. In response, the red lacquer of his armor glowed with sudden, intense heat.

HISSSSS—!

Massive plumes of superheated white steam erupted from ports on his back like twin exhausts. Simultaneously, two of his white tails slammed into the ground behind him for leverage, and he met Tsunade's charge with a piston-straight punch of his own.

BOOOOOOM!

The collision was cataclysmic. For a single, frozen second, their fists met in mid-air. Then, a visible shockwave of pure concussive force erupted from the point of impact, radiating outwards in a perfect circle. The ground for meters around buckled and fractured in a spiderweb pattern. Gravel and dirt were ripped from the earth, suspended in the violent stasis of the clashing energies, only to be instantly pulverized into fine dust a moment later.

The sheer, raw power was staggering.

BOOM!

After a few seconds of titanic struggle, Tsunade was the one forced back. She skidded several meters through the mud, her boots carving deep trenches. She looked down at her fist. The skin wasn't just bruised; it was red, raw, and blistered as if from a severe scalding burn.

Gururu…

Gōki stood firm, unmoved. But his body was changing. Red, bubbling chakra began to seep from his pores, rising and coalescing around him. In the blink of an eye, he was clad in a shimmering, crimson coat of volatile energy—a Tailed Beast Cloak.

"What is that?!" Jiraiya exclaimed.

"That 'coat' burned me on contact, and the effect is persistent," Tsunade hissed, analyzing the damage even through her pain. "This Jinchuriki… his power incorporates intense heat. It's like a bizarre fusion of brute force and scorching energy."

"A cloak entirely woven from dense chakra… the fabled Tailed Beast Cloak," Orochimaru whispered, his fascination overriding caution. "Such magnificent, concentrated power…"

Seeing an opening, Orochimaru acted. His arms shot forward, slapping the mud.

"Hidden Shadow Snake Hands!"

From the earth directly beneath Gōki's feet, three enormous black serpents erupted, their bodies coiling around the Jinchuriki's legs and torso with viper-like speed, attempting to bind him.

"Nice one!" Jiraiya cheered, his hands already flying through seals. Not to be outdone, he slammed his palms to the ground. "Earth Release: Swamp of the Underworld!"

The solid ground under Gōki instantly liquified into a deep, sucking bog of thick mud.

Between the constricting snakes and the engulfing swamp, the Five-Tails Jinchuriki was swallowed from view in an instant.

"Now! Finish it!" Tsunade didn't hesitate. Using Shave, she vanished and reappeared directly above the spot where Gōki had sunk. She drew her fist back, every muscle screaming with power, and drove a devastating punch straight down into the center of the mire.

SPLAT-THOOOM!

A geyser of mud erupted. The Jinchuriki's form was driven deeper, completely submerged.

Tsunade used the recoil to kick off the air, flipping backwards to create distance.

But as she was in mid-air, vulnerable, a single white tail, now streaked with black muck, shot up from the boiling swamp with terrifying speed. It was aimed directly at her, and in her aerial state, evasion was impossible.

Tsunade could only brace.

"Fire Release: Great Fireball Technique!"

Orochimaru, ever observant, had anticipated it. A massive orb of searing orange fire roared from his mouth, intercepting the mud-caked tail. The swamp residue ignited instantly, engulfing the appendage in flames and throwing off its trajectory.

The burning tail whipped past Tsunade, close enough for her to feel the blistering heat. She landed safely a distance away, her heart pounding, the smell of ozone, mud, and burnt chakra thick in the air.

The swamp bubbled violently. The crisis was not over. It had just begun.
