Chapter 15 - THE EMPIRE'S SWORD DRAWS

Chapter 15 — The Empire's Sword Draws

1. The Doors Open

The emergency council chamber was still drowning in tension from the previous discussions.

Nobles whispering.

Guild Master Joseph silent.

City Lord Martin gripping his cane tightly.

Then—

THUD.

The great doors of the chamber opened.

Every head turned.

Heavy armored footsteps echoed slowly across the marble floor.

Measured.

Unhurried.

Dominant.

Entering the chamber—

A towering man clad in black iron armor stepped forward.

His presence alone altered the air pressure of the room.

He wore a horned iron helmet, the curved horns polished like obsidian blades.

On his back—

A massive greatsword wrapped in white cloth, its sheer size enough to make veteran knights uneasy.

The man stopped before the table.

Removed his helmet.

And placed it down with a dull metallic weight.

Revealing his face—

Samuel.

32 years old.

Battle-hardened.

Short dark hair streaked faintly with grey.

A scar crossing the bridge of his nose.

But what unsettled the room most—

His eyes.

They glowed faint blue.

Not mana glow.

Not magic.

But the mark of someone blessed — or cursed — by countless battlefields.

He bowed slightly toward the City Lord.

"My lord."

Then nodded respectfully toward Joseph.

"Guild Master."

He sat down without waiting for permission.

A man who knew his rank.

Knew his authority.

2. The Tone Shift

For a few seconds…

Silence.

Then Samuel leaned forward, resting his gauntleted hands on the table.

His glowing eyes sharpened.

The temperature in the room seemed to drop.

"Now…"

"Tell me what happened."

The casual tone was gone.

This was a battlefield commander asking for war intelligence.

Joseph inhaled slowly and began.

3. The Report of Horror

He spoke of everything.

The forest disturbance.

The missing adventurer parties.

The massacre of civilians and mercenaries.

The survivor child's testimony.

The festival night attack.

The shadow familiars flooding the town.

The clash at the City Lord's estate.

The defeat of elite forces.

The destruction of the Knight Order.

Every detail.

Every humiliation.

Every death.

As Joseph spoke—

Samuel didn't interrupt once.

He only listened.

Eyes unmoving.

Face expressionless.

But the table beneath his hand…

…began to crack slightly from pressure.

When the report ended—

He exhaled slowly.

"…I see."

4. The Empire's Warning

Samuel leaned back in his chair.

For the first time—

He spoke of something bigger.

"In the capital… we received a divine warning."

The nobles stiffened.

Joseph frowned.

Samuel continued:

"The Holy Church Saintess manifested a prophecy."

"A calamity."

"One that will end this world."

The room froze.

He looked at them one by one.

"The prophecy states…"

'An otherworldly demon shall descend —

Not to conquer kingdoms…

But to corrupt the world itself.'"

No one spoke.

Even breathing felt loud.

Samuel continued calmly:

"That is why His Majesty summoned all frontier generals."

"To warn us."

"To prepare us."

"To hunt threats before they grow."

He paused briefly.

Then added:

"The Dragon Knights are already scouting imperial territory."

"They're searching for the Apostle of the Evil God Florienza."

The name alone darkened the room.

Because Florienza wasn't just feared.

It was hunted by every divine order.

Samuel stood slowly.

Armor plates grinding softly.

"Whether the forest entity is the apostle… or the prophecy demon…"

"…I will verify personally."

5. The Clash of Authority

Joseph stood immediately.

"General Samuel, wait—"

"That forest isn't normal—"

Samuel turned his head slowly.

Joseph felt it instantly.

The pressure.

Battle aura condensed like gravity.

Samuel's eyes glowed brighter.

"I have slain war beasts larger than fortresses."

"Demons older than kingdoms."

"You expect me to fear a forest phantom?"

Joseph tried again:

"I'm not questioning your strength—"

"I'm warning you—this enemy manipulates domains—"

Before he could finish—

Samuel released a fraction of his aura.

BOOM.

The entire council table shattered into splinters.

Nobles screamed.

Chairs fell.

Papers scattered like snow.

But Samuel's voice remained calm.

"Fear clouds judgment."

"I operate on results."

The aura vanished instantly.

He sighed lightly.

"…Apologies. Excess pressure."

He walked to a side drawer.

Took out parchment.

Ink.

A pen.

And began writing.

6. The Letter to the Capital

The scratching of ink filled the broken chamber.

He wrote calmly.

Methodically.

Sealing the letter with imperial wax.

Then handed it to City Lord Martin.

"If I do not return by tomorrow…"

"Send this to the capital."

Martin's hands trembled slightly taking it.

Because the implication was clear.

Samuel didn't believe he'd lose.

But he acknowledged the possibility of encountering something… worthy.

7. The War Ride Begins

Minutes later—

Samuel exited the estate.

Outside—

His war horse awaited.

A massive black stallion clad in plated armor.

Eyes glowing faintly from battle conditioning.

Samuel mounted in one smooth motion.

Behind him—

Knights assembled in formation.

Not hundreds.

Thousands.

Originally he commanded 1,000 frontier knights.

But after the prophecy warning—

The Emperor reinforced him with 2,000 additional cavalry.

Now—

3,000 knights stood ready.

War banners fluttered.

Lances raised.

Armor gleaming under the setting sun.

Samuel looked back once.

Then raised his hand.

"Formation advance."

Horns sounded.

Hooves thundered.

The ground shook as the cavalry began moving.

8. The General's Thoughts

As they rode—

Samuel looked toward the distant forest line.

The horizon where green turned darker.

His thoughts ran quietly.

Otherworldly demon…

Domain manipulation…

Shadow familiars…

He placed a hand on the cloth-wrapped greatsword behind him.

"Whatever you are…"

"You chose the wrong border town."

The sun dipped lower.

Casting long shadows across the plains.

9. Forest Reaction — Domain Awareness

Deep within the Green Zone—

Draven still lay unconscious beside the winged ape statue.

But his domain…

Was awake.

Crows shrieked across the sky.

Wolves lifted their heads simultaneously.

Trees rustled though no wind blew.

Mana currents shifted violently.

Because 3,000 armed lives had just entered domain detection range.

System warnings flickered faintly beside Draven's unconscious form.

[Hostile Army Detected]

[Scale: Large]

[Threat Level: Strategic]

The winged ape statue's runes glowed faintly again.

Almost… anticipating battle.

10. Red Zone Echo

Far deeper—

A1, B2, and C3 paused mid-hunt.

They felt it too.

The tremor of mass military presence.

A1 turned toward the Green Zone direction.

Combat instincts processing.

B2's crossbow hummed with charge.

C3's spirit rings rotated faster.

Without orders—

They began returning.

Because puppets understood one absolute law:

When armies move toward the king…

All pieces return to the board.

11. Closing Frame — Two Hunters Converge

The chapter closes on dual imagery:

Samuel leading 3,000 imperial knights toward the forest.

War banners cutting through the wind.

Eyes glowing with absolute confidence.

And—

Draven lying beside the dormant winged titan statue.

Unconscious.

But surrounded by a forest preparing for war.

Sky darkening slowly.

Crows gathering.

Beasts assembling.

Puppets returning.

Because when Samuel enters the forest next chapter…

He won't be invading wilderness.

He'll be stepping inside a living fortress.
