Chapter 44 - THE LION'S ROAR AND THE RING OF DARKNESS

Chapter: The Lion's Roar and the Ring of Darkness

The battlefield had become a living nightmare.

Smoke rose in spirals from shattered siege weapons. Broken towers leaned like dying giants. The corrupted ground pulsed with dark veins spreading from the domain of the Corrupted Forest.

Above the chaos, thick fog drifted like a curtain hiding the true scale of the monster army.

And in the center of it all—

Two forces clashed with terrifying ferocity.

The Lions Charge

Forty members of the Lion Knight Order descended onto the battlefield.

Golden energy erupted from their armor as they landed, their boots cracking the corrupted ground beneath them.

Each knight radiated a warrior's aura.

Veterans.

Battle-hardened elites who had survived hundreds of hunts and wars.

Behind their leader, the spiritual beast Leon, the mystical lion, manifested in full glory.

Its mane flowed like living sunlight.

Its roar shook the battlefield.

The leader stepped forward, gripping his sword.

"Formation!"

The knights moved instantly.

Two squads rushed toward A1.

Five surrounded Samuel.

Three leapt toward B2 in the sky.

Others targeted the Gargoyle General and Prince Varuk.

The clash began instantly.

A1 vs The Lion Knights

Two lion knights attacked A1 simultaneously.

Their swords glowed with golden mana.

"Lion Fang Strike!"

Twin slashes tore through the air.

A1 calmly raised his blade.

CLANG!

The impact sent shockwaves across the battlefield.

The knights were pushed back but immediately attacked again.

A1's mutated wolf mount snarled beneath him as he moved like a shadow.

One slash.

Then another.

Dark energy wrapped around his blade.

The knight blocking him suddenly felt his arms tremble.

"His strength…!"

A1's sword struck again.

BOOM!

The knight was blasted into the ruins of a cannon tower.

The second knight attacked from behind.

A1 turned instantly.

Their blades collided again.

Sparks flew everywhere.

B2 Dominates the Sky

Above the battlefield—

Three lion knights used spiritual leaps to reach B2.

But the poison wyvern beneath him roared.

B2 calmly drew his bow.

One arrow formed.

"Arrow of Chaos."

The moment he released it—

The arrow split.

Ten.

Twenty.

Fifty.

Hundreds of arrows streaked through the sky.

One knight shouted.

"Deflect them!"

The knights swung their blades, destroying dozens.

But the arrows suddenly changed shape.

They transformed into elemental beasts.

Fire wolves.

Lightning serpents.

Wind blades.

The sky erupted in explosions.

One knight fell from the sky, armor cracked.

Another barely landed safely.

The third rushed forward through the storm.

But B2 already had another arrow ready.

"You're persistent."

The arrow pierced through the knight's shield and blasted him across the battlefield.

Samuel's Battle

Samuel fought silently.

Three lion knights surrounded him.

Their swords moved with incredible speed.

Samuel blocked.

Countered.

Then stabbed forward.

A knight barely deflected the strike.

Samuel's eyes burned with cold undead fire.

Black skeletal claws erupted from the ground.

"Claw of the Underworld."

The claws grabbed two knights by the legs.

They cut themselves free immediately.

But Samuel was already in front of them.

His sword swung downward.

The knight blocked.

But the impact forced him to his knees.

Gargoyle General's Fury

The Gargoyle General crushed the ground beneath his feet.

Five lion knights attacked him simultaneously.

Their swords flashed like lightning.

The Gargoyle caught one blade with his stone hand.

CRACK.

The sword shattered.

Then gravity surged.

"Gravity Collapse."

The air itself grew heavy.

The knights struggled to move.

The Gargoyle's magma axe ignited.

One massive swing.

BOOM.

The shockwave threw two knights across the battlefield.

But they stood again.

Bloodied.

Still ready to fight.

Varuk's Savage Fight

Prince Varuk roared atop his demon bear.

His coral blade carved through the air.

"Sea Storm Cleave!"

A wave-shaped slash blasted two knights away.

Another knight lunged forward.

Varuk met him head-on.

Their blades collided with explosive force.

Both warriors grinned.

Finally—

A worthy enemy.

The Battlefield Pauses

Despite the overwhelming monster army—

The Lion Knights did not collapse.

They fought like true warriors.

But slowly…

They were being pushed back.

The generals were stronger.

And behind them stood something far worse.

The Two Who Had Not Moved

In the middle of the battlefield—

Two figures still stood motionless.

Draven.

And the Lion Knight Order leader.

The knight stepped forward slowly.

His spiritual lion Leon roared behind him.

Golden energy radiated from the beast.

The leader removed his helmet.

His scarred face was calm.

Unafraid.

"So you're the one leading these monsters."

Draven didn't respond.

Instead—

He stared at the ring on his own hand.

The ring pulsed with a strange dark aura.

Not demonic.

Not divine.

Something older.

Something corrupted.

Draven tilted his head slightly.

Then he smiled.

The knight noticed.

"You find something amusing?"

Draven lifted his hand slightly.

The ring glowed faintly.

"I was just thinking…"

"…this little thing might finally be useful."

The knight frowned.

"What are you talking about?"

Draven looked at him.

His red eyes glowed beneath the disguise.

"Don't worry."

"You'll see soon enough."

The lion spirit behind the knight roared loudly.

Golden energy exploded across the battlefield.

The knight raised his sword.

"I don't know what that ring is…"

"…but whatever power you think it holds."

He pointed his blade toward Draven.

"It won't save you."

Draven chuckled softly.

"Save me?"

The corrupted ground beneath him pulsed violently.

Dark vines rose slowly around his feet.

"I'm not trying to save myself."

His aura exploded outward.

Demonic power flooded the battlefield.

Even the Lion Knights felt their bodies grow heavy.

Draven's smile widened.

"I'm trying to see…"

"…how much destruction this ring can cause."

The lion knight leader's eyes sharpened.

Leon roared.

Golden energy burst outward.

Draven stepped forward.

Dark lightning crackled around his hand.

The ring pulsed again.

Two monsters of war finally faced each other.

And the battlefield trembled.

The true fight—

Was about to begin.
