As we all gather. All of the first years in one spot in a giant ring. Made of pure concrete. "Okay kids this could be your chance to get to rank E." It was Edward who was smiling.
"Okay, onto the rules." Cody Nickel said.
"There are none! It's a battle royal anything goes." Gin said with a smile. Cody's face flushed red.
"Listen to me. There are rules. I know you're adverse to them but there are rules." Cody said. Him just shrugged making Cody face burn hotter.
"Okay you two stop fighting." Edward said as they both fell silent.
"Now on to how to win and be one of the last ten standing." Gin said with a fox smile.
"Thank you for summing it up." Edward said as he sat down the fighting began instantly. Pure chaos. No one was attacking Charles. As his eyes widened. I looked where he was looking at Charlotte? But she died. A moment later we lost track of her. Because someone attacked Charles. He grabbed the fist. As heard creaking and small snapping. Then a crunch.
"My hand!" The guy yelled. Charles had completely crushed it. As he was teleported.
"I forgot when you take enough damage you get teleported into medbay." Cody said. With a small nod. The few who saw that act of brutality ran off.
"Let's fight." Another random person said. As they charged at Charles I took to the sky. He deflected the punch. Slipping past him. As he kicked the elbow it bent at an unnatural angle. He let out a scream. Following this he was teleported away.
"That guy is a monster." One of the watchers said.
"Is that Charles Pendulum?" The second one questioned himself.
"Who is that?" The first one asked.
"He is a monster of a human and one of the leaders of the biggest group in the House of Evolution attack. Him and Gabriel are considered the strongest of this year." The second one answered.
"Really." A third voice said as both of them fell and teleported. Gabriel walked forward. Charles smiled at Gabriel; he matched the smile.
"Hello Gabriel, how has life been?" Charles asked, creating small talk.
"It was great. I have been getting extra training from Amarok sensei." Gabriel answered.
"Nice, I have been keeping up with my training." Charles said as he ducts under a slash. He kicked the person's knee and it shattered. With a loud crunch. As he was teleported away.
"I see your senses are never dull." Gabriel said as he sided with a stab from a rapier as he cut off the person's head. Most of him was teleported away. Minus the cut off hand.
"You're brutal." Charles commented. As he jumped over a punch from someone. Landing behind the person. Punching him on the back of his neck. His head was no longer in a natural position. He was teleported away. Gabriel rolls his eyes.
"Me brutal you should look at yourself." Gabriel snickered. Both of them have a few screws loose. Another one wanted to attack Gabriel but he blocked it with his katana and Charles kicked him causing a resounding crack to be heard as he got teleported. I looked around and most of them were small fries. But some were strong. A woman I had never seen before was using magic. A strong gust of wind sliced through about a dozen students and many more were launched into the air. They hit the ground like raindrops.
"Who is she?" Charles asked.
"Millia Maxwell, she has a magic akin to Dragons, she is strong." Gabriel said with a shrug. As Leo burned away several students in an instant.
"Who is that?" Someone random asked. Before being burned to ash.
"I wonder who." Gabriel said.
"Leo Starling, one of my class, is quite the impressive person." Charles said with a smile.
"Looks like we both have monsters." Gabriel spoke. Charles let out a short laugh.
"It is over! The first round is done!" Gin said the fox-like smile was covering his face. I landed on Charles' shoulder and the dust was still settling.
"The winners are Millia Maxwell, Gabriel Merlin, Charles Starling Pendulum, Leo Starling, Virgo Starling, Mary O'bell, Shadow, Niuhi Jaws and…" The person looked confused for some reason? "Is this an error?" He asked, looking at Cody Nickel. Cody looked over the person's shoulder and he glared at Gin.
"Gin, is this one of your pranks?" Cody asked.
"What do you mean?" Gin asked. Looking at the paper, he looked shocked. He slowly shook his head. Cody looked at him like he was lying.
"Charlotte Starling Pendulum!" The person announced loudly. Charles' face was drained of color. A pale white as everyone was leaving we saw Charlotte face just like she was before her death.
"You know her?" Gabriel asked as our eyes turned to him. Charles put on a fake smile.
"Nope." Charles said as we looked for her how she was alive. She died in Charles' arms.
"Okay whatever you say." Gabriel said he was worried about Charles; it was written as clear as day. Charles shakes his head. As we walked back to the apartment that belongs to Seris. Charles got a text.

Charles clicked off the phone. Who was that? "Who do you think it is?" I asked him if he was glaring.
"Charlotte or the being that is impersonating her." Charles was very angry. He was starting to make a call. To whom?
"Who are you calling?" I asked.
"Hello Arthur go into the library the monster section looks for monsters that can impersonate others. Get William to look for spells that raise dead or illusion type magic." Charles said there was silence on the line.
"Why?" Arthur said.
"I saw Charlotte or something that looked like her using her name." Charles said. The room seemed to fall deathly silent for a few moments.
"Okay." Arthur spoke as the line was cut. Charles' fury was overwhelming as he walked out the door and entered the basement. He started punching it again. Again. Again. Again. Again. Faster. A stronger fragment fell to the ground. It was shocking. We were making progress. Thump! Thump!
"Master, there is a Devil nearby." Envy said as the elevator opened. Showing Charlotte. She smiled. My face was drained of color.
"How?" Charles asked himself. He was in shock. He scanned her again and again. He circled her like a shark. asked questions only she would know. Somehow she might be the real deal.
"Hello my beloved." Charlotte said. Charles' hands were shaking as he slowly walked towards Charlotte. As they hugged each other Charles tears rolled down his cheek. He gulped before moving a small bit back.
"I missed you so much." Charles said. As they hugged again. "How did you survive?" Charles questioned.
"Well you see Dragon Blood spilled into my coffin and then I punched my way out." Charlotte said. It must be another one of Lux's twisted experiments. He bragged about the properties of Dragon blood to Charles once but that makes sense.
"I know. I know." Charlotte spoke reassuringly and patted his back. I was getting bored of the two love birds.

"Goodbye." Charlotte said as three Bala were shot into Charles stomach.
"Why?" Charles asked. Charlotte's face morphed into a twisted smile. A laugh was Charlotte's voice but it sounded like it was mixed static. Charles blasted off it arm as it fell to the ground it turned a pale white almost translucent. Having onyx black claws. It seemed to disappear.
"Looks like the gig is up." Charlotte shrugged. As she was still holding Jackal. Charles was holding Ivory. He shot her heart as she fell to the ground.
"What the hell are you?" Charles asked as it slowly morphed its skin was pure white like snow and its hair was floating like a ghost. Its eyes were pure black. As it disappeared. Like those Imps. As Charles' phone started to ring. He clicked accepted.
"We found only one monster, a Changeling, a type of Devil but they can only imitate the living. But the records are not very useful." Arthur's voice cut through the air. Charles nodded.
"Then this one was a special one." Charles said. This was the end of it.
"Maybe." Arthur hung up. As he looked where the changeling was.
