We entered the place. It was a rundown shop in the slums. But it was clean. Having a joyful atmosphere, a small smile was on Charles' face. A young lady no older than 5 years olds ran out and hugged Charles. "Uncle Cha!" She said with a smile. She led us to the biggest booth.
"Good to see us again. Charlie." Charles said.
"Uncle Cha. Your regular meal?" Charlie said. Charles gave a quick nod.
"What's on the menu?" Leo asked. Charlie smacked her head.
"Sorry I will be back!" Charlie yelled. As she rushed off. Into the kitchen area.
"Is it legal to have a kid working?" Niuhi said.
"Well it is a family run restaurant. The family lives upstairs. Usually it is the elder sister minding the restaurant but Charlie does my order and says she wants to." Charles said with a soft smile. He has been Vampire hunting in the slums for about 6 years now.
"So how do you know of this place?" Niuhi asked.
"That's a long story." Charles answered.
.
.
.
As the rain poured down. In the dark night of the slums. "Someone help me!" A woman screams. As the Vampire rushes at her. Before it jumped back.
"Hunting. Hunting it about the joy of the hunt. Something ingrained in everything as survival." A young Charles said with a smile on his face. Reinfield was glowing with Starlight.
"How are you?" The woman asked if she was pregnant. Her eyes were filled with tears.
"A hound born in hell. Charles the Hellhound." Charles spoke. Showing off his fang like teeth.
"I don't care what you are!" The vampire chose to run forward. Charles was slashed on the chest by that vampire. He cut off his arm. Vampire jumped back hissing like he just got burned.
"I'm going to kill you." Charles said with a smile.
"Why?" Vampire asked. With a pained grin on his face.
"Because I want to fight you and grow stronger." Charles answered as if it was as easy as breathing.
"You're a monster." The Vampire grumbled. As he charged once again. As he aimed Jackal and fired several bullets. Into the Vampire legs. Making him topple to the ground. Vampires' crimson eyes filled with fear. The thunder roared in the background.
"Yes I am." Charles said as he pointed Jackal at the Vampire head. Then he pulled the trigger.
"Thank you." The woman said. The rain was roaring out. Drowning out most noises. Charles shrugs and jostles me. I felt a spike of anger. But knowing he could kill me in an instant.
"Well I am out." Charles said as he started to walk off somewhere.
"Let me repay you, Great one. Please come and eat." The woman begged. Charles shook his head.
"I am not hungry." Charles said. As suddenly we hear his stomach let out a protest. Charles looks at his stomach as if it had personally betrayed him.
"Really?" I asked stifling laughter. It was so funny. He was always hungry. The maids and cooks know his order by name.
"Fine I will take you up on that offer." Charles said with a sigh. The woman looked happy that he had accepted their offer. As we entered the restaurant, it was calm no one was there. Charles takes off his soak trench coat. It was dripping on the floor. I was flying above him. Then relanding on his shoulder.
"Honey I'm home!" She said with a playful yell.
"Okay you okay?" A man's voice called out. As she went into the kitchen. Charles found a booth in the corner of this restaurant.
"Sir! Please dry yourself off!" A young female yelled it was Alpha. The waitress of the cozy restaurant. Charles let out a sigh.
"Fine." Charles grumbled as Alpha was a few years older than Charles.
"What is that a toy?" She grabbed Reinfield. Charles glared at her.
"A long sword you dullhard." Charles grumbles under his breath.
"A child should not have a weapon." Alpha scolds. Putting the sword on the table. Charles started ringing out his clothes.
"Alpha what with the yelling?" A man walked out of the kitchen area. She points at the kid.
"He walked in." Alpha told the man.
"Are you okay kid? You lost?" The man asked. Charles looked at him with disinterest.
"Nope I was just here to eat." Charles said as he rings out his trench coat. Water spilled out of it onto the floor. The man seemed to sigh.
"Kid, we don't have the money to feed you." The man said. Charles reached into his pocket. Throwing a bag of gold tokens at the man's feet.
"Take it, make me something." Charles said bluntly. The man slowly reached down and picked it up.
"What is a kid doing with this kind of money?" The man seemed to be inspecting the gold tokens. He seemed shocked.
"Dad, what are those?" Alpha asked.
"Are gold tokens real?" The father seemed to question his own words. Among nobles it was common to trade gold tokens; it was worth ten times as much silver tokens. It was a base ten system. Most people in the world traded with silver only those who were powerful and rich around gold.
"Honey, where are you?" The woman asked.
"I am here, a strange consumer has come in." The father said to his wife showing his wife the gold.
"Who?" The mother said.
"That kid right there." Alpha said. Pointing at Charles how had finished ringing out his trench coat.
"That kid saved my life." The mother said this shocked both the daughter and father duo.
"Well then he eats free." The father said.
"Hey kid, what do you want?" Alpha asked. As Charles walked up to her.
"Anything that quick and can fill me up." Charles answered bluntly.
"So the mash potatoes and the ribs?" Alpha asked. Charles nodded.
"Yeah that sounds good to me." Charles answered blankly.
.
.
.
Ever since Charles stopped by once and awhile. As then Alpha set three water down. "I am guessing the order in?" Alpha asked.
"Well these two have yet to order." Charles said. Alpha nodded and walked off. Then came back with two menus. She placed them down on the table. With a soft smile on her face.
"Please take your time." Alpha said as she leaves once again.
"Business seems slow." Niuhi commented.
"They mostly have five to nine customers a day." Charles answers. Niuhi seemed shocked.
"Why that?" Leo asked. He was looking for something wrong with this building.
"Not many people are willing to leave the good part of the city for food and most people here are broke." Charles answered with a small smile.
"Is it a hidden gem of a place?" Leo asked with a smile on his face.
"It's good." Charles said with a soft smile on his lip.
"Really what would you recommend?" Niuhi asked with a feral smile. Taking a sip of water.
"The ribs here are great but the burgers are also good." Charles said. Leo nodded. They looked at the menus. It was quiet for a moment. A happy moment. The door slams open.
"Anima Virus!" Someone screams. Charles get up with a shake of his head.
"I will handle this. You two eat up." Charles said walking to the person then walking past them. As I see a dog with a humanoid shape going on a rampage. It was truly massive standing well over three times Charles. His eyes were pure white not a thought behind him. His mouth was foaming. It let out a bloodthirsty howl.
"Help!" A person yelled it was chaos. Charles pulled out Jackal and Ivory.
"Hey!" Charles yelled. I took to the air. Going to watch this battle from the skies. Charles shot Bala at it. It seemed to annoy me. It came charging at Charles. He slammed the but of Jackal into its side, knocking it into a street lamp. It was bent like straw. He put both Jackal and Ivory away.
"What are you doing?" I yelled.
"I don't want to hurt them." Charles howled back at me. As the Dog Demi-human shook its head. As it charges feral at Charles. He rolls out of the way. It let out a crazed barking. Foam rushing out of its mouth.
"Calm down." Charles said. As it claws at Charles he blocks it.
"Phantom Hand." Charles said as a car crashed into the rampaging dog man. As we heard a scream seeing a kid frozen in fear.
"Rover!" The kid screams tears rolling down his cheek. As the crazed Dog man starts to rush at the kid. As Charles shields the kid from the Dog man. His claws bore down on Charles' forearm.
"Kid, get out of here." Charles said to the kid.
"But that is my friend Rover." The kid had tears rolling down his cheek.
"Don't worry Rover and I are going to play a little game. So please leave this to me." Charles said with a kind smile. He smiled then ran away.
"You're too kind to kids." I took a jab at him.
"Yeah but there's our future." Charles countered as he kicked Rover in the gut. Slamming him into the wall. Causing cracks to spread out.
"Whatever." I muttered under my breath. Rover charges at Charles he dodged the claw swipe. Then he punched Rover in the jaw staggering him to the ground. Rover got back up.
"Phantom Hand." Charles said as he lifted Rover into the air then slammed him into the ground. Rover seemed to be forced down by an invisible force. Rover slowly tried getting back up. The foam was still bubbling out of its mouth. A bead of sweat rolled down his face. Rover falls back down. But then Rover was still trying to get up. Then it failed again.
"Just stay down." Charles gritted his teeth. Rover once again was trying to get up. As Rover broke free and lunged at Charles he side stepped then kicked him to the other side of the street.
"Phantom Hand." Charles said as he then forced Rover to the ground. Charles' skin was getting paler than before. His eyes seemed to grow blood shot.
"Charles! Ability burnout." I yelled but he seemed to ignore me. Ability burnout can be caused by using too many abilities or techniques back to back. Forcing your mind to exhaustion. It can cause a temporary loss of techniques and backlash.
"Just stay down!" Charles bowled as Rover was forced deeper into the concrete as if he was being crushed by an invisible force. Rover still looked wild, his pure white eyes filled with endless rage. Blood started to trickle down Charles' noise. Rover could not even move a muscle.
"Charles!" I yelled but it fell on deaf ears. Blood started to pour from his noise even more. Then suddenly Rover was released and Charles' noise exploded blood at the same time. Charles' eyes transformed into the Stella Deus then the star seemed to expand only leaving a small yellow ring. The rest of the eyes were black. He punched Rover and sent him flying. Throw 3 street lamps. Charles seemed to be in a trance.
"Those eyes?" Mary O'bell appeared. With some other hunters.
"Stay down." Charles warned. His voice sounded different and more dangerous. Rover started to get back up. As Charles hit him back down. Spider web cracks exploded from the ground. Rover started getting up again. Charles kicked him more harshly. Knocking him through three street lamps and two cars. As other hunters rushed in. Charles let out a deafening roar. That made those hunters fall to their knees, others straight up frozen just shaking. But all of them stopped. Rover seemed to freeze for a few moments.
"What is happening?" One of them questioned.
"It's like my body refuses to move." Another one spoke. Rover let out a howl. But it sounded closer to a whimper from a kicked puppy.
"It's like a two chaos beast fighting." A third hunter said his voice was shaking.
"Those eyes." Mary was still shaking, her face was blushed. Charles forced his eyes shut. As they returned to the normal blue.
"Sorry about that I must have been in a trance." Charles said. As Rover charged once again.
"Phantom Hand." Charles said as nothing happened. Charles let out a disappointed sigh.
"Looks like Ability Burnout." Charles spoke. As he dodged Rover. Then kicked him in his throat knocking him onto his back.
"Are you going to help?" Charles asked the hunters. They were still on the ground shaking like leaves in a storm. They nodded.
"Yes sir." They all said at once.
"Get this street clear, get everyone off it." Charles told them as he dodged a claw strike. Stomping on the hand but Rover did not slow in the slightest.
"Why are we listening to him?" One of the younger hunters asked.
"Do you want to fight either of them?" The oldest said. As the young one then looked at Charles how picked up Rover and threw him into the damage wall. Breaking the wall.
"On second thought, that is a great plan." The young hunter said. They scrambled away. Clearing out everyone. Rover rushed at Charles and grabbed his massive wrist. Rover struggled and clawed at Charles' arm. He smiled as he threw him up into the middle air. As Rover harshly lands on the ground.
"You still want to go?" Charles asked with a little bit of shock in his voice. Its pure white did not change as it rushed at Charles. He punched it and was sent to the right before crashing into the ground.
"Phantom Hand." Charles said. Once again nothing happened. As it got up to bite Charles but he jumped back avoiding it.
"You can do this!" Mary yelled like a cheerleader.
"What?" I said.
"What?" Charles said at the same time. Rover attention went to her. As it leaped over Charles and started rushing at Mary. As he sprinted to catch up. Then he elbowed Rover to the side he smashed into the sidewalk. Rover howled as he lunged at Charles trying to eat him. Charles jumped back. Making Rover fall on his face. Ducting under Rover next slash. We heard clapping as Huntsman dropped down onto Rover. As he stabbed a needle into the back of Rover's neck.
"Have fun. This is a gift from the House of Evolution." Huntsman said.
"Phantom Thieft." Huntsman said as he vanished.
"Damn it." Charles growls. As he looks at Rover. Rovers started growing his fur started to turn black and green glowing marking appeared on his fur. The foam falling from his mouth doubled. It let out blood curling howls. As its claws glowed red. As it charged at Charles it seemed to move much faster.
"Phantom Hand." Charles said holding him in mid air allowed him to jump away in time. A bead of sweat rolled down his face.
"Catch!" The mother said as she threw a needle. Charles catches it and lands. It was a cure.
"Thanks." Charles said as Rover once again leaps at Charles as he stabs into his throat. Emptying the syringe into Rover. Then Charles punches Rover back. Rover grabbed the ground. Leaving claw marks. He stops and once again throws himself at Charles. As he ducts under a slash. Punching him in the gut it barely phased him. As he slapped Charles. Sending him skidding a few feet. Rover launches himself.
"Whatever Huntsman gave you made you stronger." Charles said. Rover bites down on Charles' shoulder. Blood rushed out of the wound. His jaws seemed to dig into Charles' flesh. As the child burst into flames as he transformed back. I landed on his other shoulder. The other one was torn to shreds.
"That one nasty bite." I said looking at his other shoulder. He shrugs. I felt rage built within me for a moment. But I let it go this time.
"Yeah." Charles said the kid was crying. Absolutely balling his eyes out.
"Starling: Heal." Charles said as the wound was completely healed.
"You're under arrest for property damage." A hunter said. Pointing a gun at the young boy. A few other hunters were also pointing their guns at the boy. Charles stepped in front of the boy.
"Drop your weapons." Charles said with a glare a few of them looked hesitant.
"Get out of the way." The hunter form before said. As Charles glared directly at him.
"No one was harmed. Let the kid go or else." Charles said as he took a step toward the hunter.
"Or else what." The hunter looked even angrier than before.
"I will make you disappear." Charles said. He snapped his fingers. All the hunters' guns started to be forcibly lowered by an invisible hand.
"What does that mean?" The hunter asked, still confident in himself. The other hunter looked worried.
"Let's calm down." Mary said. Stepping in between the two.
"Why should I?" The hunter glared at Charles as he glared right back.
"Because you were about to wind up dead. Charles closed this case with zero casualties." Mary explains. With a smile.
"What about the damage?" The hunter asked. Looking at Mary.
"Me and my father will pay for the damages." Mary said with a bow. The hunter nodded.
"You're lucky you get off this time." The hunter said as he started to walk away.
"What division are you in?" Charles asked quickly.
"Division 2." The hunter said. Charles seemed to nod. As Mary spins and looks at Charles.
"Why did you interfere?" Charles asked.
"So no one died, you were going to kill them." Mary said, playing innocent.
"Sorry I meant what do you want?" Charles asked coldly. As she tilted her head.
"To spread the word of Hellsing." Mary said, snapping his fingers. As Charles let out a low growl. Her eyes were black like she was trying to memorize every detail.
"Then what does that have to do with me?" Charles asked, seeming to be annoyed with this conversation. Mary smiled.
"My father wanted to talk to you." Mary said with a gentle smile. But it did not reach her eyes.
"About." Charles demanded.
"A bunch of things. House of Evolution, Hellsing, opening a new church here and the death of one Alexander Cuttingham." Mary said. The last one struck a nerve. Charles growl got louder.
"Tell your father I will meet him. Tomorrow after the tournament round that day." Charles said as he walked back into the restaurant.
"You had fun?" Charlie asked as she held the ribs and mashed potatoes over her head on a plate.
"Yep." Charles put on a fake smile. Grabbing the plate with one hand. Patting Charlie's head with his other hand. As he walked back to his booth. Sitting down across from Leo and Niuhi.
"What did Mary O'bell want?" Leo asked.
"To meet her father." Charles answered quickly. Niuhi let out a small laugh.
"Have fun hearing he was close friends with Alexander." Niuhi said with a small smile. It showed off all of her teeth.
