He had spent millions of years absorbing matter bit by bit in the Universe to construct a body as massive as Egos Planet.
And this Apokolips before him, with its density of matter and divine power resources, was simply an immeasurable treasure trove.
As long as he could successfully assimilate this Planet, his new body would be even more powerful than the original Egos Planet!
This was simply a grand, overbearing gluttonous feast in the Universe.
But Ego was not completely blinded by greed.
"master... this is extremely tempting to me, but the risks are also enormous."
Ego expressed his concerns: "To assimilate such a massive Planet filled with divine power, I must sink my true form deep into the core and release all my neurons to erode its energy network."
"During this process, I cannot move or defend myself. If a powerful enemy discovers me at this time, even a single precise high-energy strike will cause me to perish completely."
"Just go and eat your feast, Ego."
Homelander slowly floated in front of Ego, raising his hand to pat Ego's tough cerebral cortex firmly.
"I will draw all the attention here to myself and buy you enough time. I guarantee that before you finish digesting this Planet, no one will touch a single one of your nerves."
With this promise, Ego no longer hesitated.
"As you command, my great Master."
The blue brain's light quickly contracted as it fled in the opposite direction of the Dark Fortress, searching for a fire pit where the energy network was relatively weak, preparing to dive into the core.
In mid-air, only Homelander and the silently standing Super Ego remained.
Homelander watched the direction where Ego disappeared and smiled with satisfaction.
He landed on a high black hillside, took a chair out of his magic pocket, and sat down with his legs crossed.
Super Ego landed quietly in the void in front of him, his eyes fixed on the rolling black storm in the distance.
"Ready for some warm-up exercises, Super Ego?"
"Ready to crush everything for you at any time, Master."
...
The outskirts of the Dark Fortress.
The buzzing was deafening; it was the combined sound of millions of Parademons vibrating their wings.
Kalibak stood on a heavy Destroyer war chariot driven by anti-gravity engines.
His Beast-like massive body was draped in heavy spiked armor, and he held a thick beta club upside down.
Messy hair grew on his hideous face, which was filled with tyrannical killing intent.
"Target spotted! Above the Fourth Fire Pit!"
Virman Vundabar, who was in charge of tactical detection, reported loudly.
"Wait... the energy readings have changed. My Lord Kalibak, the high-energy biological reaction originally detected has now become two!"
Virman hurriedly pulled up the holographic observation screen.
"Two?" Kalibak looked disdainful. "A bunch of insects who don't know whether they're dead or alive; no matter how many come, they'll all end up crushed by me!"
However, when the holographic screen magnified the distant image and presented it clearly before Kalibak, his expression froze.
In the image, a blond man wearing a red and blue uniform was sitting leisurely on the hillside, as if he were waiting for him to come.
And in front of that man, a tall figure also wearing a red and blue uniform floated.
That iconic face and the clearly visible red "S" symbol on the chest undoubtedly revealed his identity.
"Son of Krypton?!"
Kalibak's eyes widened in fury, his rough skin turning slightly red with anger.
This Kryptonian who had submitted to Darkseid had always been highly valued. Darkseid even trusted this Kryptonian more than his own son.
This was the root of the jealousy in Kalibak's heart.
Now, this Kryptonian who was so highly valued by his father was actually standing with the enemy invading Apokolips?!
"Betrayal... he betrayed my father!!"
"My Lord Kalibak, perhaps there is a mistake..." Virman felt it was better to be safe and ask about their intentions first; there might be other reasons.
"Shut up, coward!"
Kalibak didn't give Virman a chance to speak and sent him flying with a slap.
"I knew it! This Kryptonian bastard is completely unreliable! Only I, Kalibak, am the most loyal and powerful warrior of Apokolips!"
He let out a sky-shaking roar and suddenly swung the beta club in his hand forward.
"Attack!! Tear those two reptiles to pieces! I will personally twist off the Kryptonian's head and bring it to my father for credit!!"
"Screech—!!"
The overwhelming army of Parademons, like a swarm of locusts blotting out the sun, pounced frantically toward the hillside where Homelander was.
...
At this moment, Homelander leaned comfortably against the back of the chair, his hands crossed behind his head and his legs crossed.
He tilted his chin and gestured forward.
"Look, the guests are here."
The dark army seemed to be right before their eyes, and the ear-piercing shrieks pierced through the sky.
"Super Ego, I'll leave it to you. Remember my requirement: don't kill too fast. Our goal is to stall for time and make them think you're fighting an arduous battle to break through."
"Understood, Master. I will do my best to stall for time."
Super Ego moved, breaking the sound barrier directly and charging toward the army of Apokolips.
"Bang bang bang bang bang!!!"
Wherever Super Ego passed, the dull thuds of physical collisions formed a continuous sound, with severed limbs and blood flying through the air.
The one controlling this body now was a cold God who had lived for millions of years. Without a shred of mercy, his fighting style only followed efficiency, precision, and cruelty.
"Zzzzzzt—!!"
Super Ego's eyes lit up, and crimson Heat Vision shot out.
But he didn't perform large-scale indiscriminate cutting like Homelander; instead, he aimed at the energy cores of those Tyrannosaurus war vessels in the sky.
His Super Vision saw that the huge cannons on these warships had the power to potentially penetrate near the core of the Planet.
"Boom! Boom! Boom!"
A series of violent explosions bloomed within the army of Apokolips.
The fireballs resulting from the warships' explosions swallowed thousands of Parademons around them.
"Kryptonian bastard!! Your time of death has come!!"
A furious roar came from above.
Kalibak leaped down from the hovering Destroyer war chariot, gripping the beta club with both hands, and smashed it down toward Super Ego's head with massive force.
Super Ego looked up slightly, his eyes devoid of emotion.
He raised his left arm, blocking it without dodging.
"Clang—!!!"
The sound of the violent collision echoed through the clouds, and a visible Impact spread in all directions, blowing away all the nearby Parademons.
Kalibak only felt a wave of numbness in his arms, and the club in his hand almost flew out of his grasp.
He looked at the Superman before him in shock.
"You... how is it possible..."
In Kalibak's memory, although this Kryptonian was powerful, it was absolutely impossible for him to catch a full-force strike from his beta club with one hand without moving an inch.
Super Ego didn't give Kalibak time to think.
He grabbed the top of the beta club with his backhand and swung his right fist, accurately hitting Kalibak's abdomen.
"Bang!"
Kalibak's body flew backward like a cannonball, smashing through countless Parademons before barely stopping, spitting out a large mouthful of blood.
"Damn it! Focus fire! Blast him to pieces!" Kalibak roared frantically.
