Chapter 5 - To the End

Hana and Luna wandered through Camp Half-Blood together while Max had gone off on his own. He was searching for a place to stay—somewhere private. He'd outright refused the Hermes Cabin. Nothing against Hermes himself, but with that many kids packed into one space, Max knew he'd lose his mind. He needed privacy. Space to think. Space to hide what he really was.

The girls stayed near the cabins, careful not to draw too much attention yet. They walked slowly, fingers loosely intertwined, both still adjusting to the strange comfort of simply being able to walk together.

"You're still not used to it, huh?" Hana said softly. "Talking to me like this. Out loud."

Luna smiled faintly, eyes focused ahead. "No. I mean… it's nice. Really nice. But I'm so used to you leaving letters. Voice recordings. Notes hidden in places only I'd find."

She squeezed Hana's hand. "This feels strange. Good strange. But still strange."

Hana nodded. "Yeah. I get that."

"But," Luna continued, glancing down at her own body, "I definitely prefer this. These bodies. Even if they're a bit more… developed."

Hana snorted quietly.

"And," Luna added, her voice dropping a little, "I always had a crush on Vaggie."

Hana blinked and looked at her. "You did?"

Luna nodded, unashamed. "Yeah. I think it was because she reminded me of you. Protective. Sharp. Always standing between the people she cared about and the world."

She smiled sadly. "You were more like Vaggie than you think."

Hana was quiet for a moment as they passed the Aphrodite Cabin. Several campers were lounging outside, doing makeup, styling hair, laughing loudly. Everything looked polished and perfect.

"Maybe that's why I liked Charlie," Hana said eventually. "During those nights when Max made us watch Hazbin Hotel twice."

Luna laughed. "He didn't know only I needed to watch it."

"Yeah," Hana said fondly. "But he still watched it again anyway. Didn't complain once."

She smiled. "Charlie reminded me of you. Kind. Optimistic. Always believing things could get better, even when everything was burning."

They slowed near the edge of the cabin area, the noise fading slightly.

"You know," Luna said thoughtfully, "maybe Max could heal your eye."

Hana turned her head slightly.

"He has healing magecraft," Luna continued. "And Noble Phantasms. He could probably let you hold Avalon for a bit."

Luna gently touched Hana's eyepatch, careful and affectionate.

Hana considered it. "He probably could."

She shook her head slowly. "But I don't want to."

Luna frowned. "Why not?"

"My eye's fine," Hana said. "And in my true form, fixing it would look… wrong."

She sighed. "Besides, a missing eye is nothing compared to what we used to deal with. Remember the nerve damage? The scars? How badly our legs worked some days?"

Luna's expression softened. "Yeah. And all the pills."

"Exactly," Hana said. "This is nothing."

Luna leaned into her. "It's over now. All of it."

She smiled, eyes shining. "We get a new life. A better one. With the two people I love most."

Hana wrapped an arm around her shoulders. "Same."

They walked in silence for a bit longer.

"Though," Hana added, "I don't think most of our entertainment exists here."

Luna hummed. "Probably not."

"At least not the way we know it," Hana said. "And honestly, the DxD side of things feels more unstable than the Percy Jackson side."

She frowned slightly. "The next decade alone has… what? Titans. Giants. Ragnarok. Multiple near-apocalypses stacked on top of each other."

Luna nodded. "Yeah. That's why I think we should meet the Occult Club soon."

Hana looked at her. "Soon as in… now?"

"We can," Luna said calmly.

Her eyes glowed faintly red as she spoke. "I have the most ready-to-use power right now. You still need to boost and meet Ophis. Max needs time to learn how to safely use half his Phantasms."

She smiled. "I can use clairvoyance to find them. Teleport us straight there."

Hana raised an eyebrow. "Before Percy even shows up."

"Exactly," Luna said. "We get to know them early. Build connections."

Hana hummed. "Speaking of DxD…"

She tapped her chest thoughtfully. "I wonder if I could change my Sacred Gear."

Luna blinked. "Change it?"

"Issei chose his arm," Hana said. "For… his reasons."

She tilted her head. "But I don't think that fits me."

"What would you pick?" Luna asked.

"Maybe my heart," Hana said slowly. "Or my bone marrow."

Luna frowned. "Bone marrow?"

"It makes blood," Hana explained. "Most fanfics pick the heart and somehow everyone turns full dragon, which makes no sense."

She shrugged. "If my bone marrow changed, I'd have dragon blood naturally."

Luna smiled. "You've thought about this a lot."

"I read a lot," Hana admitted.

Before Luna could respond, a familiar voice spoke behind them.

"What are you two plotting now?"

They turned to see Max walking up, hands in his pockets, expression relaxed.

"Nothing dangerous," Hana said innocently.

"Well," Luna corrected, "we want to meet Rias and the others."

Max sighed. "Of course you do."

"The faster we meet them," Luna continued brightly, "the faster the harem grows."

Max stopped walking.

"No," he said flatly. "We are not doing this to build me a harem."

Hana smirked. "Relax. You know we just want to have fun."

Max sat down beside them. "You're impossible to apply normal logic to."

"We're the same crazy girls you fell in love with," Hana said proudly.

"Crazy enough to want other girls to join," Luna added.

She leaned in close. "But don't you dare suggest another guy."

Hana nodded seriously. "If we start acting like we want that, slap us back to reality."

Max stared. "That is a wild request."

"Still," he said after a moment, pulling them both into a hug, "just don't go too far."

"You're always first," he added quietly.

The camp bell rang, echoing across the grounds.

"Food time," Hana said.

They followed the flow of campers toward the pavilion. Tables filled themselves with food—everything from burgers to fruit to full meals.

Several tables remained empty. Ones reserved for the Big Three. And one smaller, quieter table.

They took their plates and cups and sat at the table marked for Hestia.

All eyes turned toward them.

Whispers followed.

Luna leaned closer to Max. "Did we have to pick this table?"

"Yes," Max said calmly.

"Why not sit with the others?"

"Campers eat with their godly siblings," Max explained. "I'd choose Hades' table, but he doesn't bother with camp."

He glanced at the hearth symbol. "Hestia's the safest. She values bonds. If she cares, she'll understand. Or leave us alone."

Luna nodded slowly.

Max touched his cup, watching it fill with cherry Coke.

"…I might steal this," he muttered, taking a sip.

They ate together, talking quietly, ignoring the stares.

Three souls bound by love, sitting at the hearth.

Their first full day as three separate people.

And the beginning of something much bigger.
