Chapter 18 - Disposable Items Cannot Be Upgraded?

She had heard before that some items taken from the Ancient Ruins would be damaged upon contact with air.

If this box could preserve them, wouldn't it be perfect?

There are also some Heavenly Materials and Earthly Treasures that deteriorate shortly after being harvested. If kept in this box, they could last a long time.

There are many other things, like medicines, etc.

In short, this box is extremely useful.

'These cooling devices also need to be upgraded to level eleven for me to gain personal experience, so more Marvel Isolation Boxes need to be crafted.'

Thinking of this, Yang Yuan asked Jiayan to help carve the wood to make parts while he was in charge of assembling them.

At first, he had to personally write the word 'Isolation.'

But later on, after experiments, he found that he could let Jiayan carve those words first without affecting the final result.

All he needed to do was give Jiayan a concept, letting her know that what she was working on was a part of the 'Isolation Box.'

The assembled wooden box became the Isolation Box.

I have to say, Conceptual Superpower truly defies logic. It's unknown where the power to enhance items comes from.

Perhaps those experiences are essentially a form of conceptual energy?

As time passed, the sky gradually brightened, and the distant structures disappeared as if erased by an invisible force.

The shadows of people moving within the structures also quickly vanished, disappearing completely within seconds. It was unclear whether they really vanished or entered another space.

In the end, there were only endless ruins left, making everything from the previous night seem like a hallucination.

The three of them simply ate something to fill their stomachs and spent hours searching for an exit.

But in this Ancient Ruins Area, it was as if there were multiple Overlapping Spaces. Not to mention finding an exit, this time, they didn't even see the shadow of other Superpower Users.

After failing to find an exit, they had no choice but to stop again, set up a Safe House, and continue working.

In the following time, Yang Yuan continued assembling wooden boxes while trying to learn mortise and tenon structures.

He was clumsy and, before awakening, was not a craftsman. The things he 'created' randomly couldn't even be counted as things.

The haphazardly pieced-together items, which even he couldn't define, didn't have any concept or definition and wouldn't generate data.

Only items that could be defined with a name and had 'functionality' could generate experience.

Otherwise, they would become 'indescribable' items that even Conceptual Superpower couldn't salvage.

During this time, he also tried combining two stones, but this didn't generate any data.

Moreover, pretending two sticks were a pair of chopsticks also didn't work and didn't generate experience.

Perhaps it was because they weren't a single object and lacked structure?

Lastly, he tried taking apart a bullet, removing the gunpowder, and then putting it back together, which unexpectedly generated data.

[9mm Bullet Lv.1: 0/0 (Disposable item, cannot be upgraded)]

The data generated after reassembling the bullet looked like this.

While data would be generated, such items couldn't be upgraded.

Yang Yuan realized this made sense since bullets were disposable, whereas his assembled items generally needed to work or operate to generate experience.

But the way bullets are used is to be fired; they're disposable, and once fired, the bullet and casing separate, so they're no longer considered a bullet.

Therefore, disposable items can't farm experience or be upgraded.

He was somewhat disappointed by this.

Previously, he even contemplated whether to get a nuclear bomb for upgrading.

However, he now realized this idea clearly wouldn't work.

Unless there was a way to incorporate the nuclear bomb into something like the Firepower Flying Disc, allowing it to upgrade together with the launcher, that might offer some hope.

Time always seemed to pass quickly while busy.

In the blink of an eye, another day had passed.

The Drought Fiend kept closing in. During this day, when the sun was at its peak, outside temperatures had already reached eighty degrees.

To prevent another catastrophic tornado like before, Yang Yuan upgraded three of the cooling devices to level seven and then assigned one to each of the three, carrying them with them.

Level seven cooling devices could extend their radiation range just above the water surface, affecting temperatures within a 3.2-meter radius.

This level of cooling device could lower temperatures to a minimum of fifteen degrees. Factoring in external extreme heat, the perceived temperature for the carrier would be around twenty degrees.

This was a very cool temperature.

Although this temperature would also cause hot and cold air to clash, the range was too small, so the wind generated wouldn't be too strong.

As for the level ten one, it was stored in the Isolation Box.

Anyway, the water in the airdrop box was already full. From now on, they only needed to place some low-level cooling devices inside to prevent easy evaporation.

The busy time always passed quickly, and in the blink of an eye, three days had passed since they arrived at the Ancient Ruins.

During these three days, besides spending an hour or two each day looking for an exit, Yang Yuan spent the rest of the time waiting for the Firepower Flying Disc to automatically farm experience while continuing to craft Isolation Boxes.

The crafted Isolation Boxes were all upgraded to level eleven. Even though the cooling devices hadn't been upgraded to level eleven, over a hundred personal experience points had been gathered.

In those three days, outside temperatures kept rising. When they first arrived, normal temperatures ranged from fifty to sixty degrees, with daytime highs nearing seventy degrees.

But now, outside temperatures were approaching one hundred degrees Celsius, and the ground in this area was beginning to crack, turning everything into a blazing furnace.

And they were trapped inside this Ancient Ruins, possibly forced to face off against the Drought Fiend here!

Late that night, Yang Yuan couldn't help but glance at the Firepower Flying Disc data again:

[Cruise Unmanned Firepower Flying Disc LV.6: 8047/960 (Upgradable)]

'This amount of experience can at most take it to level nine...'

A level nine Firepower Flying Disc would, without accident, reach a diameter of over five hundred meters with a muzzle diameter of at least eight meters.

As for the power of each shell, he couldn't calculate it.

However, facing a Drought Fiend that even high-yield strategic nuclear bombs couldn't kill, the outcome was uncertain.

Due to a super anomaly nearby, even upgrading first and having extra shells to waste was avoided. Doing so could easily alert that super anomaly, causing misunderstandings.

Even if the super anomaly didn't misunderstand, it would be regretful if the Drought Fiend was alerted in advance and destroyed it before the Firepower Flying Disc's power was sufficient.

Thus, it was better to wait; when enough experience was gathered, upgrading in one go was the best option. At that point, even if the Drought Fiend became alert, it wouldn't matter.

Because then, upgrading to the top level all at once meant even if the Drought Fiend didn't come, Yang Yuan would go after it.

'But... to upgrade the Firepower Flying Disc to level eleven, turning it into a Marvel, would take at least half a month!'

Half a month!

Would there be enough time?

By then, would the Drought Fiend have already approached them?

Yet they were trapped in this Ancient Ruins Area, unable to continue fleeing—

Should they try to craft a door to see if upgrading could unlock a special ability to open the Gate of Space?

This thought flashed through Yang Yuan's mind. Then he thought about how items he upgraded to level ten would also undergo a minor transformation.

It would only take four to five days to bring the Firepower Flying Disc to level ten.

At level ten, its maximum diameter would certainly exceed a kilometer, transforming into a colossal entity, with a muzzle diameter reaching a daunting sixteen meters or more.

A shell that thick, with an over twenty-meter length—just how powerful would such a shell be, and could it kill the Drought Fiend?

A single shell likely wouldn't be enough, considering the true Drought Fiend couldn't even be killed by a nuclear bomb.

But what about tens of thousands or even hundreds of thousands of such shells?
