After Davin stepped away, leaving the group to enter the battle area, Dennis immediately turned his head and looked at Arion. From his trembling gaze, the burly man appeared truly in disbelief at what had just happened. He still could not comprehend the decision of the reddish-yellow-haired youth currently standing beside him.
"Why did you let him go over there?" Dennis asked in a shocked tone, his voice half-stifled. "A battle against an S-rank monster is no place to play around! He could die instantly if he makes a wrong move in the midst of such chaos!"
Hearing the panic and doubt from the adventurer, Arion was completely unfazed. Instead, the youth met the man's gaze with a very calm smile.
"It's fine, Sir Adventurer. I deeply trust in his abilities." Arion replied in a firm tone, without the slightest hint of doubt in his voice. His eyes stared straight at Davin's receding back. "With Davin's help, Alrain will definitely be able to execute and kill that monster in an instant."
Meanwhile, right in the center of the devastated battle area, dust and acidic smoke were still billowing thickly. Alrain was completely unaware that Davin was currently moving toward him. His focus was entirely locked on the body of the Queen Giant Wasp, which was now thrashing about, trying to balance its giant body with its remaining legs.
The youth prepared to dart and launch a lethal slash to sever all three of the monster's left legs simultaneously.
However, suddenly...
"Alrain!"
That highly familiar shout shattered Alrain's concentration instantly. The youth was startled beyond measure. Reflexively, he turned his head quickly to the left, searching for the source of the voice that was not supposed to be on this battlefield.
There, his gaze caught Davin's figure. The brownish-white-haired youth was walking casually toward him, as if taking a stroll to enjoy the fresh air in a park.
"What are you doing here?!" Alrain exclaimed in annoyance, his brow furrowed deeply. He truly could not fathom why Davin had completely ignored his command to remain waiting at the starting point. "This is not a safe place!"
"I only want to help you so we can quickly complete the mission ordered by our husband!" Davin answered casually, not intimidated in the slightest by the sharp glare from their husband's second spouse.
Before Alrain could open his mouth again to reply to Davin and tell him to retreat, the Queen Giant Wasp, realizing its enemy's momentary lapse in attention, did not waste the opportunity. The monster launched its attack brutally once again. It lunged forward, swinging its stingers directly at Alrain and Davin simultaneously.
"Tsk!"
Alrain clicked his tongue in annoyance. He propelled his body using wind magic and dodged the lethal attack incredibly fast, leaping backward into the air.
On the other hand, Davin did not stay idle at all, let alone dodge, upon seeing the giant monster lunging toward him.
His facial expression turned serious in a fraction of a second. He immediately pointed his right hand forward, his five fingers spread wide open, and activated his spatial manipulation magic on a full scale.
Right beneath the ground surface where the Queen Giant Wasp's body stood, a purplish-black gate appeared. The dimensional portal ring expanded at an absurd speed, widening until it reached the size of the giant monster's body.
And in the blink of an eye, before the monster realized what was happening, its entire body was completely swallowed by the gate beneath it. The monster fell into nothingness, leaving the battle area suddenly barren and empty.
"Aim your attack upward, Alrain!" Davin said loudly, giving instructions in a highly directed tone. "The monster's weakness lies in the soft chest located right beneath its belly!"
Hearing such a specific instruction, Alrain was stunned for a moment.
Where did Davin learn about the location of this monster's weakness? Alrain thought, full of questions, feeling puzzled by his family member's knowledge.
However, he immediately abandoned his intention to ask upon seeing a shadow appear on the ground surface.
Alrain looked up. He saw the body of the Queen Giant Wasp slide out and begin falling downward due to the world's gravitational pull. And thanks to Davin's spatial coordinate manipulation, the monster was falling with its soft belly and chest very clearly exposed.
Alrain smirked. He would not waste the perfect momentum that Davin had created.
Without hesitation, the green-haired youth focused a massive flow of wind and lightning magic right on the soles of both feet.
Zoom!
Alrain darted upward like a missile, defying gravity and rocketing straight toward the soft chest of the falling Queen Giant Wasp's body.
As he darted, cleaving through the air at maximum speed, he channeled extra mana to enlarge the size of the magic sword in his hand, forming long and massive magic sword blade. At the same time, he also manipulated the wind to form a transparent dome-shaped protective shield enveloping his entire body, as a precautionary measure against the spray of toxic acidic fluid that might shoot out from the monster.
The distance between him and the giant monster shrank in a matter of milliseconds. His body, darting at high speed, continued to launch unhindered toward the lower chest of the Queen Giant Wasp.
Zrash!
The giant sword, created purely from a combination of wind and lightning elements, pierced the monster's soft chest with such massive destructive power, tearing through the layers of flesh, destroying its vital organs, until the blade pierced completely through to the back of the Queen Giant Wasp's exoskeleton.
The toxic acidic fluid mixed with thick yellowish-green blood instantly sprayed out from the gaping wound on the monster's body like a fountain and rained down on Alrain.
However, thanks to the wind magic shield enveloping the youth's body, not a single drop of poison managed to touch his skin.
"KIIIIIKKKKKKKK.....!!!!!"
The monster groaned and shrieked in pain with a most agonizing and deafening sound, echoing throughout the entire northern forest a moment after the magic sword successfully pierced its heart. Its wings and legs thrashed in the air in its death throes.
Alrain immediately pulled out his magic sword, then leaped backward in the air, dodging and moving away from the giant body of the monster that had now lost its life and continued to plunge rapidly downward.
Alrain landed with utmost elegance on the ground, letting his wind shield fade away along with his sword.
Bang!
Right a few meters in front of him, the massive body of the monster slammed into the ground surface incredibly hard, creating a new crater and blowing residual dust into the air.
Queen Giant Wasp, the lethal S-rank monster that had terrorized the forest area, had finally died with a gaping, hollow wound on its chest.
