Chapter 310 - Chapter 330: Ma V Smartphone Experience Stores

This kind of move went against what everyone thought a phone should be. If it failed, it wouldn't just be a waste of effort; it could also have a huge negative impact on Google. As a publicly traded company, any minor rumor could directly affect its stock price and market value, so this was no small matter.

"Alright, let's see what happens next." Mavi, knowing the butterfly effect, was looking forward to seeing what kind of chain reactions this smartphone, appearing five years ahead of its time, would cause in the world.

Given his current status, any move he made could influence and change the world. This was true for the self-propelled rocket launcher and for the upcoming Google smartphone.

"Yes! Chairman Mavi, we have a lot of confidence in this smartphone!" Google's president, Sergey, said excitedly over the phone. He was initially worried about botching the whole thing, but with Mavi's plan, the Google executives now felt there was a huge opportunity.

They were also very impressed with Mavi's strategy to overcome people's traditional views and natural resistance to new things.

For instance, the 796 Google smartphone experience stores were a very thoughtful and innovative move. Selling the smartphones directly on the market would mean many users wouldn't get a chance to experience their powerful features, which could lead to a disastrous launch.

Mavi's idea of creating experience stores perfectly solved this problem. He believed that after users tried the Google phone, most of them would want to get rid of their old brick phones and feature phones.

Even if the Google smartphone was much more expensive, it would definitely be worth the money, and people would be willing to buy it.

The Ma V Group's smartphone experience stores immediately caught the attention of mobile giants Nokia and Motorola.

While these two companies had never gone head-to-head with the Mavi Group before, Ma V's track record in other industries made them a bit worried that he might one day disrupt the entire mobile phone industry.

As "traditionalists" in the mobile phone market, they would do everything they could to prevent Mavi from taking their top position. Of course, this all depended on whether Mavi's Google had the power to shake things up.

If it was just a lot of talk with no substance, Nokia and Motorola wouldn't be worried at all.

"President Davis, Google just announced that its 796 global smartphone experience stores will officially open in two weeks. The Google smartphones in the stores will be available for a free trial at no cost."

At Motorola's headquarters, a group of senior executives held an emergency meeting about Google's smartphone. Two years ago, Motorola had developed its own smartphone, the A6188, but its sales were disappointing.

As a result, Motorola's internal team had given up on the idea of developing smartphones.

President Davis, seated at the head of the conference table, listened to his subordinate's report, his face etched with wrinkles. He then asked, "Do we have any information about the Google smartphone? Like its design, appearance, or features?"

"Well, President Davis, we haven't been able to find out much about the Google smartphone. We only know that it seems to be one solid screen? It doesn't even have a keypad. We'll only be able to find out what it really looks like once their experience stores open, and we can go check it out for ourselves," the male executive from Motorola said, sounding a bit frustrated.

Google's security measures were very strict. No one was allowed to bring cameras or any items out of the research facility or factory without a thorough inspection.

Luckily, phones didn't have cameras at the time, which made inspections much easier. The researchers who knew the secrets had all signed non-disclosure agreements beforehand.

"A single screen? So how do you make calls?" President Davis asked his subordinate, sounding puzzled. In all his years as Motorola's president, this was the first time he had ever heard of such a strange phone design.

"President Davis, maybe the device Google designed is truly intelligent and can automatically dial numbers for the user," one of the executives at the meeting table said with a bit of humor.

At that, nearly all the senior Motorola executives at the table burst out laughing. Their attitude showed that they were looking down on Google for trying to take their market share. The fact that the phone didn't even have a keypad made it seem like a ridiculous oddity in the mobile phone industry.

While the atmosphere at the Motorola meeting was lively, the other mobile giant, Nokia, had a different mood. Their Nokia 7650 smartphone was also set to launch in two weeks.

The Nokia 7650 was the world's first Symbian smartphone, the first slider phone, and the first phone with a five-way joystick.

In a previous life, it had been created by Nokia in 2002 and was famously called the "King of Phones" by the media. Soon after its launch, it helped Nokia capture over 40% of the market share, cementing its number one position in the mobile industry.

"Chairman Mark, Google's smartphone is launching at almost the same time as ours. Should we consider releasing ours a few days earlier to get a head start?" a female Nokia executive in a formal suit asked at the meeting.

Since both companies were making smartphones, Nokia was more cautious of Google than Motorola was. But it was only a slight increase in caution, not a full-blown sense of alarm.

Chairman Mark didn't rush to answer. Instead, he told everyone to discuss and speak their minds first.

"I don't think we need to release it a few days earlier. We should just stick to our planned launch date. Otherwise, people might think Nokia is afraid of Google," one male executive said, speaking first.

"I agree. The Ma V Group is so greedy. They're even moving into the mobile phone industry and have these global experience stores. Have you heard that they're letting customers try the phone for free? What's the point of trying a phone? Aren't they worried that customers will find flaws and decide not to buy it?"
