Chapter 34 - Charge

Of course, the surprise this Astra Militarum unit brought to Adam had not yet ended.

In the midst of the extremely noisy battlefield, Adam's eyes suddenly moved, and almost simultaneously with Sibylla, he turned his head to look towards the periphery.

Shells rained down one after another. Most of the Greenskin Boys who had gathered around seemed to have been caught in a pincer attack, falling rapidly, and their previously dense formation became sparse.

This allowed the two of them to see through the Ork ranks and behold the scene in the distance.

—It was a Steel Torrent from the Astra Militarum.

Leman Russ Tanks and Chimera Armored Vehicles rumbled along, kicking up dust. Soldiers carrying lasguns, wearing gas masks, and clad in heavy protective suits marched between the tanks, pouring fire onto the Orks with astonishing efficiency.

"...Are they here for reinforcement? Their reaction is quite timely."

Adam was slightly surprised. "Also, this armor formation is very good, extremely orderly. It doesn't look like it was organized on the fly."

"They must have prepared for this in advance. I understand now, their original tactic must have been to use trenches and light infantry to halt the Orks' advance."

Sibylla, as an Inquisitor with some military command experience, began to analyze. "After the Orks get bogged down, they organize armored units to flank them, forming an arrowhead attack formation to strike their flanks and gain the advantage."

"The tactic is very simple, but highly effective."

"You are likely correct."

Adam nodded. "Moreover, considering that they reacted immediately upon seeing us drop in, instantly changed tactics to support and cooperate, and launched such an effective artillery strike... the Commander of this Astra Militarum unit has some skill."

However, this works out perfectly.

Because of this timely reinforcement, Adam no longer needed to call the strike cruiser for orbital bombardment.

Previously, all Dreadclaw Drop Pods had deployed the Astartes company directly into the Orks' Steel Torrent.

The Astartes had forcefully carved out a landing zone within the armored cluster, and thus, despite their excellent equipment, their casualties were still considerable.

However, thanks to the Reality Warping Ability providing a safety net, all the fallen Astartes were rescued, allowing them to return to the battlefield.

The current situation, however, was vastly different. The Astra Militarum's attack drew away a large portion of the Orks' attention, causing the Greenskins' formation to immediately loosen significantly.

Conversely, the human side had formed a complete and powerful offensive.

It was like a long spear: the Astartes were the sharp spearhead, their attack extremely fierce, having already broken through the Ork lines, but were now tightly entangled by the Green Tide, like a spear tip stuck in flesh.

But now, with the Astra Militarum acting as the "spear shaft," the balance of offense and defense shifted. The squad's advance speed was several times faster than before, and they instantly pierced through the defensive line organized by the Orks.

At Adam's signal, Sibylla's eyes lit up, and she used her Psychic Powers for reconnaissance again.

Soon, she reached a conclusion: "...Indeed, just as you predicted, those Xenos didn't anticipate our rapid breakthrough speed. They lacked time and failed to successfully rally all their vehicles."

"Right now, their formation is still relatively dispersed, nowhere near the level required to threaten us."

After listening, Adam nodded: "That's completely sufficient. The conditions for a Swift Decapitation Strike are met. Prepare to move out."

With a thought, Lucia and Leonardo, who were weaving back and forth killing enemies, received the message, reacted, and began to withdraw outwards to rendezvous with Adam.

After they had gathered, Adam casually stretched out his hand and lightly grasped at the ground.

A large mass of earth flew up in response, twisting and transforming in the air.

Matter conversion, warping, shaping... Finally, following Adam's will, it transformed into a Golden Shield and a Power Longsword.

That was one of the specialized armaments of the Custodes: the Sentinel Blade and the Guardian Shield.

Invisible telekinesis threw the weapons towards Leonardo. Leonardo understood Adam's intention, discarded his guardian spear after exhausting its bolt rounds, and reached out to catch the new weapons.

Subsequently, holding the sword and shield, he stood beside Lucia, flanking Adam.

The Relic Storm Shield and the Guardian Shield together formed an impregnable defense line.

"Go!"

As Adam gave the command, the four instantly broke away from the Astartes company, turning into a penetrating storm that instantly pierced through the Ork defensive line before them.

The Greenskin Boys did not fail to resist, but all the ammunition they fired was firmly blocked by the Living Saint and the shield-bearing Custodes. Any Ork that entered the attack range, with a flash of cold light, became a dismembered corpse.

Adam was not idle either; he continuously wielded the Caladbolg, its blade seemingly ignoring the barriers of space.

Every time it descended, a golden flame ignited on the target. Whether it was a large group of Greenskin Boys or those filthy vehicles, they were unconditionally burned into piles of charcoal, effortlessly carving out a clear path.

Behind and to the side, Sibylla, flying suspended in the air via Psychic Powers, immediately plotted the shortest decapitation route.

Before long, Adam could see the Ork Battle Fortress, which resembled a small landship, in his sight.

Although some armored vehicles and Ork Killa Kans had gathered around the Battle Fortress, they were completely unprepared for the speed of the breakthrough and instantly fell into disarray.

"Don't panic! Wait, what the heck is that?"

Inside the Battle Fortress, Galya, the Ork Boss, widened his eyes, watching the four strange shrimp rushing toward him.

He saw the four moving freely. The fierce Orks around them couldn't slow them down at all; they were piercing through all obstacles like a storm sweeping away dry leaves.

As for their target... it was obviously clear, something even an Ork could easily grasp.

A rare flicker of panic surged in Galya's heart, and he immediately roared loudly:

"Fire! Fire! Shoot everything you have! Stop them for me!"

Following the roar, the subordinate Orks who heard the command finally reacted. Tanks and Trukks raised their cannons, Kanz and Meganobs lifted their weapons, and a torrent of firepower erupted instantly, like a downpour.

Although this round of fire coverage was disorganized due to haste, it was still extremely lethal.

Unfortunately, in the eyes of Adam and his group, this level of heat was far from enough.

Sibylla let out a shriek. The savage Psychic Powers spread with the sound wave, eventually condensing into an immense shield barrier in the air.

Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom!!!

Although the rain of artillery fire roared as it struck the barrier, it did not slow the four down in the slightest.

Finally, they closed in completely on the vicinity of the Battle Fortress.

All around them, seemingly endless Ork armor and various vehicles surged toward Adam and his group like mad things.
