Chapter 2 - A Bet

She waved the paper in front of him, her red lips curved into a taunting smile. No it must be fake! After all you can't just forcefully buy ownership of a house!

Right..?

But it dawned on him, this is Morgan of Valor, the princess of the current strongest legacy clan. Credits were nothing but a formality for her, the air he breathes, the land he walks on, the food he eats, all of that is something she owns.

She is the richest woman on earth and now her eyes were set on him for a reason he doesn't have a clue about.

"Ah! Don't forget to attach the golden Fondue fountain in the middle! It runs of the soul shard of a-"

Before she could finish her words shadows stirred around the entire house. She turned back to the enraged Sunny.

He had thought he had gotten over the scars from his past, but that was a foolish thought in the first place. Those scars are what made him who he is today and Morgan was practically picking open the scabs.

"I want you out and everything you've done to my house changed back."

He walked up to her before snatching the paper out her hands, her expression stayed neutral as if she thought he was joking.

"I'm sure your trip to the dream realm was nice and easy.. go in and then have uncle come and get you. After that your clan will set you up with a fancy cohort and fancy memories to challenge the second nightmare.. you can eat anything you want, at any time you want, be treated like royalty and live in a grand castle.. so why dont you go find your prince somewhere else."

Morgan looked down at him, and he glared up at her.

All she did was smile once more, as if everything he said fell on deaf ears.

No it wasn't as if they fell on deaf ears, it was that everything he said did fall on deaf ears.

"You finished yet? It looks like the movie was more accurate than I had thought it would be.. but I can put that aside and be kind enough to cure your ignorance. You're right I can have anything I want, anyone and anywhere as well, yet it's not about what I could have but what I do have.. in fact I braved the dream realm and the second nightmare all on my own, the foods I eat are cooked by myself since all my attendance leave early on, you're right I could have all those things done, yet I simply didn't want those things, I'm a very simple person and I dont want many things.. but when I do want something on those rare occasions I'll be sure to get it.. Sadly for you my eyes ended up landing on you."

Sunny stepped back, he ignored her little rant and focused on the last thing she said. Those words didn't sound like she wanted him as a husband but rather that she wanted to own him.. like a slave.

Legacies were trained since they could walk, educated since they could think, and had their humanity stripped from them before they even came out of the womb.

But Morgan wasn't just any normal legacy, she was the princess of the greatest legacy clan.

She didn't just have her humanity stripped away, no she had no concept of humanity at all.

He's sure of it.. she doesn't even see what she's doing as wrong.

That realization calmed him down a little, not because he was any less angry at her but rather because knowing that he can use that to end this once and for all.

He has no words that will convince her, and he has no influence to oppose her.. which is why.

"Fine then, let's make a bet."

Her eyebrow raised up as she gave the signal for the movers to stop and the signal for him to go on.

"5 months, we'll stay together for 5 months total and if you can convince me to change my mind in those 5 months you win."

His plan was simple, use this opportunity to get possible information on the Valor clan. After he gets all the information he needs after the 5 months he'll kick her out and endure watching under the possible scorn of the Valor clan.

"I have one condition though, change everything you've done back!"

Instantly her fingers snapped and the movers went in and began to move things back out begrudgingly. That seemed to officiate it.

"Interesting, fine then.. within 5 months I'll make you mine."

---

It was awkward, it's been a day since then and Morgan was sitting on the couch. She wasn't watching anything on the TV, she was just sitting.

He wasn't in much of a better situation, he was just staring into the fridge not taking anything out to cook.

But he has to get on her good side.. maybe if she thinks he's falling into her hand she'll spill information.

The only problem is what should he cook for the princess of the Valor clan? What does she like to eat, judging by her looks he would think she drinks blood but he already has a feeling he knows someone who does that.

Something in the fridge caught his eye, it was a gift he had been given from Kai.. one of many. He doesn't remember what animal Kai said it's from but judging from the purplish color it obviously wasn't an animal at all but rather a nightmare creature.

Taking it out the fridge he cubed it up, drizzling oil, dried herbs, and seasonings onto the meat before letting it marinate back into the fridge.

While that sat he would start working on what would go with it.

He pulled out two bags, both were given to him by Rain! In the back of her house she has a garden and every once in a while she gives him fresh produce.

He opened the bags and poured the contents into a bowl so he could wash them, inside were these mini cabbage like things and carrots.

He washed them before chopping up the carrots and throwing them into boiling water, shortly after he threw the cabbages in the water as well.

Taking the meat out he threw it into a pan, instantly it started to bubble out fat and juices which caught him by surprise. Now that he knew it was a fatty meat he could plan this out much better. He only let it cook for around eight minutes before taking it and letting it rest on a plate.

He took the vegetables out of the pot before laying them out on a sheet tray and drizzling the juices from the pan onto them.

Using the oven that's powered by a soul shard it only took around three minutes to roast them.

He split the meat up putting it on two separate plates and did the same with the vegetables.

Damnation! He forgot about chilling any drinks!

He looked through his pantry and found a bottle of wine that Effie had given him, yet that needed to be cold as well.

Then the idea struck him, it was something that Kai was telling him about. While at some sort of celebrity party the host duddy or whatever his name was gave him this thing called Mulled Wine.

Placing a pot on the stove he quickly poured the red wine into it before throwing in oranges he had sliced yesterday among other things. He's had to been cooking for around an hour now, which was why he was surprised when he saw that Morgan was watching him with a smile on her face. How long has she been watching, what was she thinking, was she impressed or unimpressed. Thoughts like those ran through his head until no end.

He brushed those thoughts away and set down the food and wine on the table. She pulled out the seat opposite to him and wasted no time picking up a piece of food.

Her expression didn't change at all, it was as if she was purposely trying to make him worry about every action, every slow deliberate move of her fork after she tried another part of the meal, every sip of the wine that went a little faster than the last.

It was as if she was trying to cloud his mind with her and her alone, but he noticed something that took him out that daze.

"Pfft.. what are you a child? You're really not gonna eat your carrots?"

She seemed taken back a bit before looking at her plate, for the first time she shot him a look of annoyance something other than the enchanting smile of passive face she wore.

Sadly, that smile returned soon after as she picked up a piece of carrot with her fork. She slightly got up out her chair leaning over the table slightly bringing the fork close to his mouth.

What sort of mind games was she playing now.. was she trying to see if he would retreat? Retreat from what exactly.. he doesn't know.

But he knows she's up to something.

"Dont keep me waiting now, my arms can still get tired."

He hesitantly opened his mouth, when he was about to bite the carrot off of the fork in order not to touch the fork directly she shoved the entire end of the fork in his mouth.

He chewed the carrot before beginning to stand up slightly annoyed that he had to get her an entirely new fork now.

"Don't worry there's no need for that."

He turned back only to see her placing the fork that had just been in his mouth into hers, only then did she sink it into a carrot and eat it.

Was this some poor attempt at seduction..?

He turned back around trying to hold in laughter, did she think he would be bothered by something like that? He had to eat the rotting corpse of a nightmare creature while falling deeper into an endless abyss he had no problem with a little spit swap.

That was until he turned back around ready to finish eating, only to see Morgan with her mouth open and her eyes closed.

Once again his mind raced, not because he was embarrassed about feeding her but rather what it could mean. He could easily poison her, send shadows down her mouth until she pops, among many other things. He's sure she knows this also.. so is it trust he wont do it or does she think he doesn't have the guts to do it.

He stabbed a piece of everything onto a fork before bringing it into her mouth putting the entire end into it.

Her mouth held onto it a second longer than needed for some reason, when she opened her eyes they shot open wide.

The reason they did was because just like her Sunny had put the fork in his mouth.

Fine, since she wanted to try these petty attempts to win he wont hold back either.

From now on, he'll be the one trying to seduce her as well.
