Chapter 14 - Princess

The next day came, though waiting for it felt like years had passed. He hasn't slept at all, nor has he blinked. All he's done was sit by the front door, waiting like a dog waiting for their owner to get home.

But that door never opened.

Has he been abandoned? Was he nothing but a mutt once more? No, he wouldn't allow that. He knows more than anyone that Morgan wouldn't abandon him, which means she must either not be able to see him, or she's waiting for him to come to her. Either way, he has to find her. The only problem being he has no clue where she could be. There are multiple Valor manors that she could have headed to. There's also multiple places she could have been taken to in waiting.

He turned on the T.V and flipped channels until the news played.

"It's quite a stir isn't it! Apparently the wedding is coming quite soon as well, only three days after it was announced! Though the location hasn't been released yet, what we do know is—"

He turned the T.V off. He already heard everything he needs to know. They most likely won't release a date until a day before, and even then, from the looks of it, the only reason they are releasing the location would be for paparazzi. That only confirmed his suspicions that this is a political marriage.

Perhaps he should wipe the house of night off the map. It wouldn't be that hard. Do they even have a saint?

Well, that doesn't matter. That was a bad thought. He felt like Mordret for a second. Well, he didn't feel dead at the moment, so he supposed he wasn't.

For some reason, he was surprisingly calm about this now. Perhaps it's because he knew no matter what, he would get Morgan back.

Though a worry in the back of his mind lingered. Perhaps it was from the insecurities he never fully dealt with. The thought of the house of night member who she was marrying being a better suit for her.

He picked up his new phone after replacing the one he had broken and looked up the house of night member she was supposed to be marrying.

Aether.

He was handsome, had an amazing aspect, a good reputation, no scandals, very active on stopping discrimination against mundanes in the awakened world as well. He even had a history of advocating for those in the outskirts.

So to put it simply, he was perfect. He was perfect for Morgan.

While Sunny was Sunny.

Looking back on it, he's caused nothing but problems for her. From treating her like an outsider at first, to causing a ruckus at the ball, from going on to handling Mordret without telling her anything.

If he had to compare the two of them, the option would be obvious.

Yet at the same time, that doesn't matter. Why would it? In all honesty, it just reinforced why he should stop the marriage.

If it was a fairytale, then Aether would be the prince charming while Sunny would be the villain. If it was a different genre, then Aether would be the protagonist in an NTR while Sunny would be—he shook that thought out of his head.

Because it didn't matter to him anymore.

Since when did the villain stop because someone was a better option? The villain's role was to do what they want, and he would play his role well.

"And where do you think you're going, Lady Morgan!"

She looked back at the caregiver who was also watching over her. She had been someone who had taken care of her since she was a child. Though there was no affection in their relationship, it was purely the bare minimum to let her survive and thrive in training.

"Well... I'm leaving. I thought that would be obvious."

The window behind her was shattered. She was an adult—why would she be grounded in a room?

"You listen here—"

The caregiver strutted up to her before grabbing her on the shoulders, a serious look on her face.

"Love is only a feeling. Learn this now rather than later, Lady Morgan."

A heat rose up to her head, the heat obviously being anger. Yet she calmed down, for one simple reason.

"You're right, it is. But what of it?"

She walked back, the hands falling off her shoulders as she masterfully avoided each glass shard with her steps.

"Feelings and love are the same. They're unexplainable and they're chaotic. Can you explain why we can get so happy we cry? Or when we're completely out of hope we laugh? Perhaps even why when we're nervous we smile?"

She jumped up, glass shards planting in her feet as she landed on the edge of the window, her gown and hair blowing through the wind.

"Lady Morgan! Get down from there, this—!"

A smile graced her face, causing the caregiver to stop. That was due to the type of smile it was, one that she had never seen on the face of the princess of Valor for as long as she's been able to talk.

"The whole reason for this marriage is due to credits, right? Well, credits can buy everything... but credits cannot buy my everything."

With those words, she fell from the window, her gown fluttering due to the wind. Suddenly, as if the wind itself struck her, a hole in the shoulder of her gown appeared, throwing her back and pinning her against the wall. Of course, she already knew who it was.

"Madoc..."

His aspect allowed any weapon he wielded to be invisible. That included arrows.

It seems she wouldn't be making a grand escape any time soon.

Cassie took a sip of her tea, rocking back and forth in her chair. She let out a sigh, dismissing the shared vision. After looking through both Sunny's and Morgan's eyes, she only had one thought.

"Wow... they're so corny."
