"What do you mean it wasn't a gang?!"
"One person went in first."
Now genuine confusion spread.
"One person?"
"Yes... I do not know which gang he represents but he is an awakened."
Once the guard finished speaking, the men standing around the ruin entrance immediately broke into loud laughter.
"An awakened?" one of them scoffed. "So what?"
Another spat to the side. "Greedy idiot. Going into a multi-layer ruin alone?"
Everyone there understood what that meant.
A ruin with multiple layers was far more dangerous than a regular one. Each descending floor increased both the quantity and strength of creatures inhabiting it.
And this ruin had something even worse... a hidden third layer.
That alone changed everything.
One of the gang leaders folded his arms and said confidently, "He's dead."
Several others nodded in agreement.
"To clear a third-layer ruin," another man added, "you'd normally need a Tier 2 Awakened leading several powerful Tier 1s."
