Chapter 101 - Chapter 101: 02.000: 'On the Shelves'

Esteemed citizens of the Imperium, I am Luoyuan, a Scribe from the Documentary Court on Terra, responsible for writing this book.

This book will be available tomorrow, and I am very grateful to everyone who has followed it until today and read this far. Thank you all for your support.

I have carefully read every reader's comment and feedback whenever I had time, and I have also analyzed and summarized the shortcomings and flaws of this book so far.

This book is my first truly meaningful web novel written in earnest. The path of cultivation is long and arduous, and there are many details I am still exploring and learning. In the future, I will continue to refine my ability to write long stories, address my weaknesses, and strive to provide readers with a story that is readable and consistent.

I am a fantasy and history enthusiast, and also a Warhammer fan. I love both Warhammer Fantasy and 40K, The Witcher, A Song of Ice and Fire, The Lord of the Rings, and The Hobbit. I particularly enjoy delving into the 'majority' in other worlds, which are the mortals: their lives, their culture, their customs, and their spirit.

Although 40K is a grimdark worldview, in this world, life is mostly suffering for the vast majority of mortals.

But I really like Commissar Cain, Eisenhorn, and the mortal stories in the Fire and Dawn series. They have their own emotions, their own stories, and whether the ending is tragic or joyful, they always deeply resonate with me.

Every time I finish reading, I always lament the complex evil and virtue in this world, am amused by Commissar Cain's optimism and humor, and am moved by the selfless sacrifices. This world has many stories that leave me with a sense of regret.

I also really like Space Marines. The Blood Angels are my favorite original legion, and the Lamenters are my favorite successor chapter.

The transformation and spirit of the Sons of Blood add much hope and beautiful expectation to this dark world.

They went from the feared 'Ghouls' of The Ninth Legion to salvation under the leadership of their radiant and perfect primarch, forming a sharp contrast with Angron and his War Hounds. One led demons to become angels, while the other led angels to become demons.

Sanguinius is too perfect, so perfect that I was captivated the moment I saw him, so perfect that I knew he would surely die even without reading further.

Because his perfection and noble spirit were destined to lead to his ultimate destruction. This world cannot tolerate such a perfect person.

But I was very curious about what he would do before he died. Finally, with curiosity, after reading the Horus Heresy, The End and the Death Volume 3, The Ruin of Baal, and the stories of the Lamenters, I completely fell in love with the Blood Angels, these imperfect angels who even become brutal when the bloodletter and Black Rage are triggered.

'Even if I am a monster, I am Sanguinius's monster, not yours (Khorne)!'

Because too many regrets condensed in my heart, I later wanted to use my related knowledge to write a mortal story with an Imperial Navy theme. I feel that the Imperial Navy, soaring through the stars to protect human territory, is romantic, fearless, and brave, possessing an adventurous heart in this corrupt and dark world.

However, ground combat is also indispensable, and the protagonist will later have a storyline where he is'seconded' to serve in the Astra Militarum.

A mortal, though individually not overly powerful, possesses virtues such as unity, sacrifice, and mutual aid in the human spirit. They can command warships, using humanity's greatest weapons of war to shatter monsters and demons. They can also unite, using wisdom and charm to accomplish seemingly impossible feats.

I hope to portray Horatio Cochrane as a 'person.' He is not a perfect person; he has all the emotions, desires, and selfishness that anyone has, and he will even resort to unscrupulous means to achieve his goals, even if it means breaking rules.

But he must be a 'person,' a human being, a human with normal human thinking, a human who fights for the continuation of humanity in this dark world, a human who wipes away the tears of his loved ones and fills the emotional void in female characters with his actions.

'Even if the world is boundless in darkness, we can certainly do something. We will never sit idly by, even if in the eyes of those bastards it's like a mantis trying to stop a chariot, overestimating ourselves, but we will definitely ignite the spark to illuminate the darkness.'

However, since I am writing fanfiction, although I know many things do not conform to official lore, I do not wish to write a story that is too bitter and deeply resentful, because the tragedies of Sanguinius, Rogal Dorn, the Lamenters, the Star Knights, and others are already heartbreaking enough.

Nor am I someone who can bring myself to write tragic and painful stories. I prefer hope and dawn, rather than meaningless death.

I hate thoughtlessly inflicting pain just to emphasize the grimdark nature of the world. I believe that sacrifice in tragedy must be for the continuation of more people's good wishes and hopes; it should make people feel future hope and light, with victory just ahead.

Real life is already tiring enough, so why should I make myself and readers, after empathizing with the protagonist, only suffer bitterness and setbacks?

Therefore, in the later stories of this book, the maximum extent of suffering will at most be 'life and brilliance bursting forth from despair, achieving a satisfying counter-kill.'

This is also the core idea I want to convey—"Civilization thrives endlessly, human glory lasts forever."

No matter how desperate the situation, as long as we work together, hope and victory will ultimately arrive. Even the Chaos Gods / The Four Gods cannot toy with us. The God-Emperor protects us.

Sacrifice will exist, but I will primarily place the emotion of sacrifice on minor characters or a very few supporting characters. I do not want the protagonist to lose much, nor do I want to eliminate the people the protagonist cherishes and loves one by one, even if this is the cruel 40K.

So, if later the Great Demon E kicks some deceased supporting characters back from the Golden Throne to the real universe to continue serving humanity, please bear with it.

Any seemingly painful plotlines later on, I will try my best to arrange heartwarming endings, so that readers do not have too many 'regrets.'
