Chapter 4 - Watching from the Sidelines

Seeing another $100,000 yuan deposited into his bank account, Evan tried hard to suppress the smile on his lips.

Evan added her on Instagram, smiled faintly, then waved his hand casually: "I'll head out first. See you around."

"Mm, bye," Emily responded softly.

This scene!

To his roommate Jack, it was undoubtedly the end of the world!

A thunderclap in a dry land!A meteor crashing straight into his heart.

He was practically on the verge of tears!

His heart was bleeding!

Under his devastated gaze, Evan walked back to their table and sat down.

"Done," Evan shook his phone.

Jack: "..."

This guy had a bitter look on his face, forcing himself to continue eating.

The spoon in his hand trembled.

His dream goddess, Emily, was so easily approached by Evan and he even got her contact information.

Waaah! Where is the justice!

Jack wailed heartbreakingly in his mind.

It hurts.

It really hurt!

"Emily! So you're here!"

Just then, a boy's voice suddenly came from outside the door.

Jack looked up.

He saw that the boy was tall, his looks could barely be considered handsome, and he had a lot of hair gel in his hair to style it.

As soon as he entered, he walked directly towards Emily's table.

"I've been looking for you for ages, Emily. There's a really good movie this afternoon, shall we go watch it together?"

After the boy finished speaking, he flicked his fringe, almost sending his skull flying.

Evan frowned slightly: "Who is this exaggerated idiot?"

"Michael ! From the School basketball team!"

Jack muttered softly.

Although he himself had never confessed to Emily.

He had long since figured out who was around his goddess.

Michael, captain of the metro University basketball team, and one of Emily 's simps!

"I've heard about him. This guy is always chasing Emily, and he's considered one of the best among her simps."

"Oh."

Evan nodded, not surprised.

As a school beauty-level beauty who could rank among the top three at Metro University, it would be unreasonable if Emily didn't have a few simps around her.

But, no matter how many simps there were.

If they stopped him from completing tasks with Emily, he would turn them all into dead dogs!

This Michael had been showing off ever since he walked in the door.

One moment he was flicking his hair, the next he was shaking the Apple Watch on his wrist, then he would roll up his sleeve to show off his biceps.

He was like someone with ADHD.

"Emily, I don't have class this afternoon. Shall we go watch a movie together?"

He asked, feigning nonchalance.

"Sorry, my phone ran out of battery and turned off. I can't go out this afternoon."

Emily replied without even looking at him.

Pfft!

Hearing this, Jack almost spat out the food he had just shoveled into his mouth.

Emily had just added Evan on WeChat.

Less than a minute later, her phone ran out of battery?

She was fooling no one.

His mom was right after all, the prettier the woman, the more she liked to lie!

Michael was stunned for a moment, a hint of regret flashing in his eyes.

"Alright then… I had originally planned to invite you to the dealer ship store to look at cars with me after the movie."

"It's almost graduation, you see, and my dad insists on buying me an Honda Accord. Or a Volkswage for transportation ."

"Sigh, actually, I really can't be bothered to look, it's so annoying…"

Michael said this while feigning impatience, observing Emily 's reaction.

He wasn't complaining about the trouble of looking at cars.

He wanted to subtly tell Emily.

After he, Michael, graduated, his family would immediately buy him a decent sedan.

Honda and volkswagen weren't cheap; In other words, his family background was quite good.

Much better than those ordinary boys.

If she was with him, her future would be somewhat secure.

Unfortunately, after all that talk, Emily showed no reaction at all.

"Ahem, Emily, I won't disturb your meal. I'll be leaving now."

Michael had run out of tricks, so he simply said goodbye and slunk out of the shop.

Throughout, Emily never even looked at him properly.

To be honest.

From childhood to adulthood, too many boys like this had appeared before her!

They were all like animals in heat.

As soon as they met, they couldn't wait to flex every single muscle.

As soon as they opened their mouths, they couldn't wait to count every single coin they had in front of her.

Thereby displaying their self-proclaimed 'strength'.

In her opinion, this kind of behavior was really childish. This way of showing off was also very low-class.

Her goal had always been clear:

Enter a higher circle.

Build connections with capable, educated, successful men.

Her standards were high. Very high.

Evan, on the surface, was ordinary.

And yet…compared to other men .Evan has calm and unrestrained demeanor, From her perspective,

Evan was truly quite ordinary—his looks, height, and family background were all average.

But surprisingly, she could tell that Evan possessed a strong sense of confidence.

Confidence is a real thing. For example, when two people enter a luxury store, one rich and one poor.

The rich one will have particularly confident and assured eyes, appearing poised and generous.

The poor one, however, will lower their gaze, looking visibly unconfident.

Therefore, upon seeing Evan's strong confidence, Emily was very perplexed, even bewildered.

Where did you get that confidence from that was amusing for her so she exchange her Instagram.

it was simply miles apart… 9 PM, Boys' Dorm 606.

Evan was in a great mood and couldn't help but hum a song,

Jack looked over with a strange expression and said, "Evan, what's making you so happy?"

"Nothing, I hit Challenger rank."

Evan casually made something up.

Emily was once Jack's dream goddess.

"Holy crap, Evan, you've reached Challenger? Hurry and play on a smurf account to carry me, I'm still stuck in Gold!" Jack shouted from the bottom bunk.

" Jack, you're seriously so bad! You've been playing for years and you're still stuck in Gold!"

Evan had no choice but to play five games with Jack on a smurf account.

The result was five consecutive losses.

"Can't carry! Seriously can't carry! Jack, find someone else more skilled!"

"Evan, you're actually abandoning me??"

Jack wailed.

Evan closed the game.

Just then, a notification popped up.

A message—from Lily.

> Evan, are you asleep?

I know you probably aren't.

I just wanted to say… you shouldn't flirt with Emily.

Evan stared at the screen.

The news traveled fast.

Too fast.

Then he scoffed silently.

We're already broken up.

Why do you still care who I talk to?
