Chapter 43 - Chapter 43: The Battle was a Draw

Kael stepped onto the next floor.

The moment his foot touched the ground the air changed. This place was different from the previous battlefield.

The sky above was a dark crimson like a permanent sunset frozen in time. Vast plains stretched endlessly in every direction broken only by distant hills and ruined watchtowers scattered across the horizon.

The ground beneath Kael's boots was dry cracked by countless past battles.

The scent of war lingered in the air.

Before he could observe further the world trembled. A familiar sound echoed across the plains there were war horns which sounded deep and ancient.

The sound rolled across the battlefield like thunder.

Kael's eyes narrowed slightly.

Shen Yao floated beside him with his usual calm smile.

"Well, we are in 22nd floor and the looks of it the Tower prepared something interesting."

Kael turned slightly.

"You knew about this?"

Shen Yao chuckled softly.

"The Tower loves patterns. It rarely wastes things."

Then suddenly light erupted across the plains. Two enormous formations began appearing from opposite sides of the battlefield.

There were soldiers and thousands of them. Armor glinting under the crimson sky. War banners rising high above the formations.

Kael immediately recognized them.

On the left side stood the silver-armoured soldiers of Valtheris.

On the right side appeared the black-armoured warriors of Drahkhal.

The same two armies he had fought on the 21st floor.

Yet something was different.

System windows appeared before Kael.

[22nd Floor – Battlefield Command Trial]

[Objective: Lead the summoned armies and achieve victory or survive the battle.

Summoned Forces:

• Valtheris Army

• Drahkhal Conquest Legion

Status: Both armies recognize you as their Supreme Commander.

Victory Condition:

Lead your army to dominate the battlefield or survive the battle.]

The soldiers from both armies slowly turned toward Kael. Thousands of eyes focused on him.

Then both armies knelt.

The ground trembled as the warriors lowered themselves.

At the front of the silver army Captain Roderic stepped forward. He removed his helmet and placed it against his chest.

"Kneel before the Supreme Commander!"

The command echoed.

Every soldier lowered their heads.

Kael stood silently for a moment.

He had never commanded an army before.

But strangely his mind remained calm. He slowly walked forward.

The soldiers parted as he passed between them.

Roderic stopped before him and bowed deeply.

"My lord."

Kael studied the battlefield around them and then he spoke.

"Stand up, Captain."

Roderic obeyed immediately.

Kael looked at both armies. Thousands of warriors. Two former enemies and now standing under one banner.

Kael turned to Roderic.

"From this moment forward you are the Commander of this army."

The captain's eyes widened slightly.

"My lord?"

Kael nodded.

"You know these soldiers, you know war and I don't know anything and I'm still learning"

A faint smile appeared on Roderic's face.

Then he knelt again.

"I will not fail you."

Roderic moved quickly.

His voice rang across the plains with commanding authority.

"Form ranks!"

"Infantry center!"

"Archers rear lines!"

"Cavalry flanks!"

The soldiers immediately reorganized. Years of training returned to them which had discipline, order and formation.

Even the Drahkhal soldiers who had once fought Valtheris began cooperating under the new command structure.

It was strange. But war forced adaptation.

Kael stood on a small hill watching everything.

Shen Yao floated beside him.

"That was an Interesting choice."

Kael crossed his arms.

"He's a better commander than me."

Shen Yao nodded.

"True."

Then he glanced at Kael's hand.

"So, what will you do?"

Kael slowly raised his fingers. A thin line of light appeared in the air.

The new talent responded instantly.

[Absolute Boundary Definition – Authority Rank: SSS]

The line gleamed softly.

Shen Yao smiled.

"Ah are you planning to do something with this talent."

Kael remembered the earlier days.

When his power was just Line Drawer (F-Rank).

Back then he could create simple weapons from lines. Now that power had evolved into something far greater.

But the core principle remained it was lines, definition and boundaries.

Kael moved his finger again. A second line appeared. Then a third.

Kael thought something interesting 'Will it work'.

The glowing lines connected in mid-air.

Forming a shape and it was a sword. The weapon materialized completely.

It fell into Kael's hand.

The blade vibrated with power.

Shen Yao's eyes shone slightly.

"This is not bad you're defining weapons directly and shaping it from reality."

Kael swung the sword once and it moved perfectly.

He continued drawing Lines appeared across the sky like glowing threads.

Spears, shields, arrows.

Hundreds of weapons materialized. They dropped onto the battlefield.

Soldiers stared in shock.

Because the weapons they see are shining brightly like divine weapons from an angel army and they felt the huge power inside it.

Roderic looked toward Kael with amazement.

"My lord…"

Kael spoke calmly.

"Arm the soldiers."

The captain saluted.

"At once!"

The ground trembled again. This time the shaking was stronger.

Far across the plains another army appeared. But this one was far larger.

They wore Dark armour and they had monstrous creatures and massive siege beasts.

Their banners carried a strange symbol a burning crown.

System windows appeared again.

[Enemy Army Detected]

[Army Name: Legion of the Endless Throne

Commander: War Sovereign Maldrake

Level: 170

Army Strength: 12,000 Units]

Roderic's face hardened.

"That force they're twice our numbers."

Kael watched silently and observed that the commander is higher leveled than him, with the restrictions he's having it's difficult to have a battle with the commander but yeah, his battle craze it's making his blood boil with excitement.

The enemy army began advancing. War drums echoed across the plains.

Shen Yao chuckled softly.

"This time the tower really wants to test you."

Kael looked at the battlefield and then at his army.

"Commander."

Roderic turned.

"Yes, my lord."

"Prepare the army."

The captain raised his sword.

"ALL UNITS!"

"BATTLE FORMATION!"

The soldiers roared.

The plains exploded into chaos. Archers fired first. Thousands of arrows darkened the sky.

Both sides unleashed devastating volleys. Soldiers crashed into each other moments later.

Shields collided. Spears thrust.

War cries filled the air.

Kael moved through the battlefield like a silent shadow. His sword cut down enemies with precise efficiency.

But he wasn't fighting recklessly. His eyes constantly scanned the battlefield.

Watching, analyzing and understanding.

The enemy army pushed forward aggressively. Their numbers gave them confidence.

Siege beasts smashed through infantry lines.

Roderic shouted commands rapidly.

"LEFT FLANK HOLD!"

"ARCHERS TARGET THE BEASTS!"

Kael raised his hand.

Lines of light appeared across the battlefield.

He drew quickly, massive glowing spears formed in the sky. They dropped like meteors onto the enemy siege beasts.

BOOM.

The creatures collapsed under the impact.

Soldiers cheered. But the enemy kept coming.

Wave after wave. The battlefield turned into a sea of steel and blood.

Hours seemed to pass. Neither side gained a decisive advantage.

Then the enemy commander appeared War Sovereign Maldrake.

A giant figure wearing black war armour. His sword burned with crimson energy. He rode a massive war beast directly into the battlefield.

His voice echoed like thunder.

"WHO IS THE KING, COME AND FIGHT ME?"

Captain Roderic was going to face him, but Kael signaled not to and Kael stepped forward.

"I am."

Maldrake grinned.

"Good very good, come fight me oh King of mere army ha ha ha"

The war sovereign leapt from his mount. The ground cracked when he landed.

"Then let us end this."

The two warriors clashed instantly. Their weapons collided with explosive force. The battlefield around them shook.

Maldrake was incredibly powerful. Each strike carried monstrous strength.

Kael responded with precise technique. Their duel became the center of the battlefield.

Meanwhile the armies continued fighting endlessly around them.

Maldrake laughed during the battle.

"You command well oh King!"

Kael blocked another strike.

"And you also fight well."

The war sovereign swung again.

"Then let's see who wins this war!"

Their battle raged for a long time. Neither warrior gained the upper hand.

Finally, both armies began slowing down.

Exhaustion hit them and there were casualties.

The battlefield reached a stalemate.

Maldrake stepped back breathing heavily.

Kael stood across from him equally tired.

The war sovereign began laughing.

A deep powerful laugh.

"Interesting."

"You're the first king who didn't lose against me, of all the kings I've gone against you are the strongest"

Kael lowered his sword slightly.

"And you're the first who didn't lose either."

The two armies had reached perfect balance.

Neither side could break the other.

Then suddenly the sky began glowing.

System notifications appeared.

[Battle Result: DRAW]

[Both armies have demonstrated equal dominance.]

Roderic looked up in confusion.

"A draw?"

The system continued.

[Condition Fulfilled]

[Leadership Capability Proven.

Strategic Balance Achieved.]

Then the final message appeared.

[22nd Floor Cleared

Reward:

• Massive Experience Gain

• Authority Growth

• Army Command Authority Unlocked]

The battlefield slowly faded. Both armies dissolved into light.

Maldrake's figure disappeared last.

He gave Kael one final grin.

"Next time…"

"We finish this war."

Then he vanished.

Silence returned to the plains.

Kael stood alone again. Roderic and the soldiers were gone.

Only Shen Yao remained.

The guide smiled quietly.

"Well, that was quite a war."

Kael looked at his hand.

A faint glowing line still floated above his finger.

His authority had grown stronger. His control over boundaries sharper.

Shen Yao turned toward the distant staircase that appeared at the end of the plains.

"The twenty-third floor awaits."

Kael sheathed his sword.

"Let's go."

Without hesitation

He walked forward toward the next floor of the Tower.
