Chapter 154 - Assassination of Hoshimi miyabi

After a moment's thought, Conan immediately dismissed the idea.

They had been tracking remotely using a bug signal, keeping a very long distance, so there was no reason for the Black Organization to have discovered Dr. Agasa's car.

Perhaps there were other people tracking Mizunashi Rena.

There was a moment of silence on the other end of the phone, as if Gin was judging the veracity of Mizunashi Rena's words.

Then, a faint metallic friction sound came through, and Conan could almost imagine Gin holstering his Beretta pistol into his trench coat.

"Hmph... It seems I was overthinking it."

Gin continued, "As for the suspicious vehicle you mentioned, don't worry. Within a five-hundred-meter radius of here, we have our eyes. If any impertinent mouse dares to approach, someone will deal with him in time."

"Eyes within five hundred meters?!"

Conan gasped, cold sweat instantly breaking out.

"Hakase! Quick! Pull over immediately! Pretend the car broke down! Hurry!"

Dr. Agasa was also startled, quickly turning the steering wheel and parking the yellow Beetle in an inconspicuous spot by the roadside, then fumbling to turn on the hazard lights.

Conan held his breath and continued to listen.

New sounds came from the bug, as if several more people had arrived.

"Forget it. Next, the operation to deal with Hoshimi Miyabi, the section chief of the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department's Special Case Investigation Division, still requires your effort. Don't mess it up for me."

Gin's voice seemed to soften slightly, but it remained cold.

Deal with Hoshimi Miyabi?

Conan's mind buzzed, recalling the image of Hoshimi Miyabi flattening a Toyota HiAce with a single slash, and a chill ran down his neck.

At the same time, he was curious as to how Hoshimi Miyabi had offended the Black Organization enough for Gin to want to eliminate her.

Soon, someone brought up the question for Conan.

"Oh? Is this mission to assassinate the newly appointed section chief? What did she do? Why must the Organization eliminate her?"

Jane Doe's cheerful voice came through.

Beside her, Vermouth and Amuro Tooru were also present.

However, Vermouth was a bit closer, and Amuro Tooru stood a little further away.

Gin frowned, somewhat displeased. "Muscat, you talk too much."

"I'm just curious, if you don't want to say, then don't," Jane Doe waved her hand, feigning a casual inquiry, as if she didn't care much.

Amuro Tooru stepped forward at this moment.

He himself was very concerned about why the Black Organization suddenly wanted to assassinate Hoshimi Miyabi, but he was afraid of being too direct and getting suspected.

Now that Muscat had asked first, he took this opportunity to ask as well.

Even if Gin were to be suspicious, he would first suspect Muscat.

"Muscat is right, that Section Chief Hoshimi Miyabi doesn't seem to have interfered with our organization, does she? Why kill her? I'm also very curious about this," Amuro Tooru said.

Mizunashi Rena also nodded in agreement.

Gin's mouth twitched, and he was about to scold them.

Vodka also spoke up foolishly: "Big Brother, if they want to know, just tell them. It shouldn't be anything important, right?"

Gin was somewhat speechless.

He wondered why he had so many curious babies around him.

He lit a cigarette, paused, and then said.

"Since you all want to know, I'll tell you. The Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department's newly established Special Case Investigation Division has a lot of power.

Initially, the Organization planned to promote our insider in the police force.

But somehow, this Hoshimi Miyabi managed to pick up the position of section chief, which severely impacted the Organization's original plan.

As long as she is eliminated..."

Gin did not continue.

His gaze quickly swept over everyone, wanting to observe their reactions.

That was all he could say.

It was perfect for fishing.

It was a pity, though, that apart from Vodka, the others seemed uninterested, as if they had heard it and that was that.

Seeing no reaction from the others, Gin began to deploy the mission.

"Kir, as agreed beforehand, using the exclusive interview with Nichiuri TV as a pretext, you will lead Hoshimi Miyabi, whom the TV station has already contacted, to the fountain plaza in Beika Central Park.

The area is open, with enough vantage points around, and it's also convenient for our subsequent withdrawal."

Gin continued,

"Chianti and Korn have already set up ambushes at sniper points near the plaza. Muscat, you are responsible for backup and creating chaos.

Bourbon, intelligence confirmation and outer perimeter security are assigned to you. Vermouth will be in charge of overseeing, just in case.

Vodka, you will act with me. Is everyone clear?"

"Understood," several voices responded in sequence.

Inside Dr. Agasa's Beetle.

Conan's heart pounded.

He immediately told Dr. Agasa and Haibara Ai everything he had heard.

He also told them of his plan to notify Inspector Megure under Kudo Shinichi's name, asking him to deploy police forces to the park to prevent the assassination and, incidentally, to capture Gin and the others in one fell swoop.

However, Haibara Ai held Conan's wrist and shook her head at him.

"No, we can't notify the police about this."

"Why? Are we just going to watch someone die?"

Conan looked at her angrily.

Haibara Ai was unmoved.

"Have you forgotten that the Black Organization has collaborators within the police force, and even at higher levels?

If you notify Inspector Megure now, he will inevitably report it upwards and deploy a large number of police forces.

Afterwards, the Black Organization could easily find out through their insiders who alerted the police in advance and at what time.

This is tantamount to directly telling Gin that Kudo Shinichi is still alive, and we will be immediately exposed!"

Conan's heart sank.

Haibara Ai's analysis was completely correct. Although he always told Inspector Megure to keep it a secret when he contacted him.

However, for something like deploying a large number of police forces, Inspector Megure couldn't make the decision alone.

If the operation failed and caused heavy casualties among the police, when accountability was pursued afterwards, Inspector Megure might not be able to keep his existence a secret.

"Then what should we do?!" Cold sweat trickled down Conan's temples, and he was very unwilling.

"The best way is to directly notify Hoshimi Miyabi herself."

Haibara Ai said calmly,

"Tell her not to leave her home no matter what, and to refuse any form of invitation, especially from the media. As long as she doesn't appear at the designated location, the assassination plan will naturally fail."

"Notify her directly? But I don't have her phone number..."

Conan quickly calmed down, his brain working rapidly.

Then, a light bulb went off in his head.

"Rin! Rin must have Hoshimi Miyabi's private number! They are friends!"

Conan no longer hesitated and immediately dialed Rin's number on his phone.

The phone rang several times before it was answered.

"Hello? Who is this?" Rin's voice sounded a little breathless, as if she was busy with something.

"Rin-neechan, it's me, Conan. It's an emergency! I need Hoshimi Miyabi-neechan private phone number, it's very important." Conan spoke very quickly, omitting all pleasantries.

Rin on the other end seemed to freeze for a moment. "Conan? Why do you need Miyabi's private number? Not many people know this number, you know."
