Chapter 75 - Chapter 75

Chapter 75 The Raging Swampert!

"So strong...really so strong, is this Red's true strength?"

Gary had seen many trainers, but none had ever used their Pokémon's abilities to this extent, using the recoil from a Volt Attack to unleash an Electric Ball again.

Only Red could pull off this kind of attack.

  "Indeed very strong."

Shinji didn't hold back his praise.

There weren't many trainers Shinji could acknowledge, but Red was definitely one of them.

With such talent and such a young age, Shinji didn't even dare to imagine how high Red's future achievements would be.

The most direct impression that Pikachu gave Shinji was its power!   Besides power, Shinji couldn't think of any other words to describe it.

"This is the first time I've seen White Feather lose its main Pokémon in a head-on collision."

Sabrina had been by his side during the previous battle.

Apart from the match against Blue, which other trainers had Gary challenged?

Only in the match against Gary, when Gary used Arcanine's high mobility to forcefully switch out Ferrothorn.

If Bai Yu had switched Pokémon, that Ferrothorn wouldn't have lost its ability to battle.

This match was clearly not a gym battle.

Bai Yu didn't switch Pokémon, for no other reason than…

mainly because that Pikachu was too fast. Its synergy with Red was astonishing; the moment the command was given, Pikachu had already launched its corresponding attack.

Such amazing bond was hard to imagine a trainer who had only been traveling for less than half a year achieving.

  …

  On the field.

Bai Yu stepped forward and touched Aggron's wound.

  "You've done quite well,"

Bai Yu said softly, comforting Aggron.

  "Aggron~"

Aggron's eyes held a hint of guilt.

Clearly, it wanted to continue fighting, but its severe injuries prevented it from doing so.

Aggron glanced at the Pikachu with resentment.

The next second, a Poké Ball suddenly appeared

on Bai Yu's waist. A four-legged Pokémon, entirely blue with black fins and a white belly, appeared beside Aggron.

Even inside its Poké Ball, it kept a close eye on the battle.

It had long wanted to battle; this moment had been waiting for a very long time.

Swampert, one of the Hoenn starter Pokémon, entered the fray.

  "Roar~"

Aggron roared, expressing its last ounce of strength in this way as it faced Swampert.

Bai Yu had guessed Aggron's thoughts.

The message was simple: Swampert couldn't lose.

  "Aggron, come back and rest."

Bai Yu retrieved Aggron from the field, stood up, and looked at the crimson figure before him.

An unusual fighting spirit flickered in his eyes. In previous battles, Bai Yu had focused on tactics; in this match, he didn't want to rely on tactics, he wanted a head-on clash.

From the moment he released Aggron, Bai Yu was prepared for any challenge.

After so much training in the game world, Bai Yu was confident that his Pokémon were no weaker than anyone else's.

Even if you're Lance, I'll still beat your Dragonite to a pulp.

(Lance: ???? What does this have to do with me?)   "Swampert... one of the starter Pokémon from the Hoenn region."

Gary took out his Pokédex and scanned the Swampert on the field.

Unlike Hiroshi's earlier Pokédex, Gary's Pokédex was the National Pokédex.

He could identify any Pokémon except legendary ones.

'Swampert, Water/Ground type, found in the Hoenn region.'

  Ability: Torrent

Moves: Water Gun, Tackle, Growl, Rock Smash, Rockfall, Protect, Water Pulse, Slam, Rock Slide, Earthquake, Hydro Pump, Hammer Shot, Brute Force, Dig, Body Slam, Ice Punch, U-turn, Tide Whirl, Amnesia, Surf...

Description: Swampert, the Swampfish Pokémon, is the evolved form of Mudkip. It possesses immense strength and can easily pull rocks weighing over a ton. It has eyes that can see clearly even in murky water, and its whiskers can sense approaching storms.

Unlike the previous Aggron, the Swampert now has a greater advantage against Pikachu.

With its innate Water-type and Ground-type abilities, it's difficult for Pikachu to take any damage unless struck by a lightning attack far exceeding its range.

Gary had never seen such a powerful Pokémon in previous battles.

He was actually holding back…      If Shinji heard Shigeru's thoughts, he might burst out laughing.

In that match, Shigeru took down the Ferrothorn in Bai Yu's hand, and then was swept aside by Houndoom. Could he possibly force out any other Pokémon?

If Arcanine had used Roar first, it might have been able to summon other Pokémon from Bai Yu.

  "Earthquake!"

With such fighting spirit, Bai Yu didn't hesitate.

Swampert stomped heavily on the ground, and a powerful tremor followed.

Ground-type moves are fatal to Electric-type Pokémon, and Red didn't panic when the earthquake struck. Instead, he calmly observed the degree of the ground shaking.

The tremors from the earthquake grew stronger, and Red seized the opportunity, shouting, "Pikachu, jump!"

Pikachu jumped violently, the ground shook violently, and a strong shockwave swept past Pikachu's feet, without causing much damage.

  "Rock Smash, shatter those rocks."

The effects of the earthquake were far more than what was

initially apparent. The rock blockade left behind by Aggron hadn't disappeared even after it left the field.

Still standing on the ground, the earthquake sent the rocks flying into the air.

Swampert charged forward, its right fist emitting a bright light as it swung it forward, shattering the rocks into small pieces. The rocks that had been sealed off were struck by these small stones, the powerful impact sending them hurtling towards Pikachu.

"Use those rocks as springboards, then use Iron Tail!"

The closer the match got to this point, the calmer and more composed Red became.

Pikachu used the first rock as a springboard, using the springboards to move forward, its tail gleaming silver-white as it moved.

Just as Pikachu used the last springboard to leap high into the air, a jet of water shot out, striking Pikachu directly in the face.

  "Pikachu!" Red's expression changed slightly.

Through the rocks, he saw Swampert's position; a drop or two of water could still be seen falling from its mouth. Clearly, at the crucial moment, Swampert had used a key move.

  Water Gun!

The sudden water cannon disrupted Crimson's rhythm and interrupted Pikachu's Iron Tail release.

  An excellent offensive move.

  "Water Pulse."

Compared to Water Cannon, Water Pulse was slightly faster.

Its power was slightly reduced, but its release speed was now the key to victory.

  "Thunderbolt."

Crimson's response was the same as before: a head-on clash.

Pikachu had just gotten up from the ground when its cheeks rubbed together rapidly, and an arc of electricity gradually gathered on its body.

The instant Thunderbolt was activated, Water Pulse struck.

The water jet washed over Pikachu's body.

  "Pika pika~"

Pikachu cried out in pain, struggling to gather lightning.

  "Chirp~"

Thunderbolt spread rapidly through the water jet, striking Swampert with tremendous force. Swampert seemed unaffected, perfectly withstanding the Thunderbolt's attack.

  Bang…

Pikachu was thrown back by the water jet and fell to the ground.

It had lost the ability to continue fighting.

In situations with a significant power difference, Thunderbolt might be able to damage Ground-type Pokémon.

However, when the power difference is small, expecting an Electric-type move to cause damage is simply wishful thinking.

"Water Pulse is too fast," Red stared at the Swampert.

His original intention was to use Thunderbolt to forcefully block Swampert's Water Pulse, then try to get closer and find more ways to attack.

  But…

Water Pulse was too fast. The current generated by Thunderbolt wasn't enough to neutralize it, and the current passing through the water couldn't cause any real damage to Swampert.

There will be another chapter later, thank you for your support.

Some of those overpowered moves in the game.

Things like Destiny Bond and Protect will be instantly shattered when the power difference is too great. Even if it's blocked, the impact can still send a Pokémon flying.

And then there are type-immunity moves. Even with a small power difference, they can be ineffective. Elite Four members fighting weaklings, legendary Pokémon fighting easy targets—there's no way a move can be ineffective. One hit is all it takes. Even with type immunity, a huge power difference can still result in an instant kill.

You can check out Groudon's fight against Alain's Charizard at Broken Sword Cliff; it defeated him in one hit.

If you'd like to see it, I can post a bonus scene so you can enjoy it too.
