Chapter 8 - a trip to the forest

"So..are you gonna tell me why you need the containment device when I give it to you?"

The woman asked as she put a small cube on the table while adjusting her glasses.

Her green hair was messy, barely tied up in a bun, this is the demigod of knowledge, prudence Audrey anew. She quickly adjusted her robe and put it on properly before looking at the man before her, Everett Farrell.

"You remember Zaire right? That guy."

"You mean kid? He died pretty young didn't he, with that organization it's no wonder. It's a shame, I enjoyed teatime with them."

Audrey sat down on her chair, her fingers fidgeting with the cube.

"According to Elijah, he is with them right now."

"My theory was right huh? But, a demigod of life can revive someone who died 20 years ago? Why would he do that?"

"He didn't "revive" him, he doesn't even know him. Elijah has yet to ascend yet and we don't even know if he- argh Nevermind. The point is, someone who died 20 years ago is back. You see the issue right."

Audrey rested her head on her hands.

"It's not like you to be so anxious but I see the point. It seems Dopplegangers are back again.Normally we'd deploy that team to handle this but it seems we won't need to huh?"

"So hand me that-"

"Before I hand you it I must say some rules you know? Average stuff, I don't wanna get sued."

".."

Farreal sighed in irritation

"You mustn't use this unless you confirm they are a doppleganger, any damage, whether physical or mental, irreversible or not, is not my problem. Upon activation, it must be closed within 10 minutes unless you have the ability to prevent corruption. After use, please-"

"Return it to you and head into the isolation chamber, I get it. Now hand it."

Audrey stared silently at Everett

"You should get your head on straight, you know that organization has… "special abilities. There's a chance he didn't die back then."

"…I'll find out the answer myself. Thank you."

Farreal snatched the cube from Audrey's hands and walked out, slamming the door.

Sighing, Audrey turned her chair around to her computer.

"Well, it'd be better if it was a doppleganger. Normally if a clock keeper shows up..

It means a calamity is coming."

"I don't have a good feeling.."

"It'll be fine Kevin,we're just going out to scout and kill the demonic creatures. I doubt there actually are any anyways, there's so much mecernaries here."

"That's not what I'm worried about!"

Kevin wailed in frustration as he looked at Saoirse.

"I'm worried about that kid, Zaire! What if he breaks out!"

"I doubt it, unless he has the strength of Mr farreal he won't be able to break of it. Sure it's pretty old but it's still enchanced by mana you know."

Serena replied to Kevin who was getting pat in the back by Azreal as she continued to walk forward

"It's fine, even if he breaks out, he won't do anything bad. I'm sure."

Elijah walked up to Kevin with a smile, hoping to comfort him

"You think he can break out?!!?!!"

Sadly, his "comfort" didn't seem to work

"Calm down will you?did you eat something sugary today or something? I made sure to remove all the sugary stuff though.."

"So it was you!"

Feeling betrayed, Kevin quickly moved azreal's hand off his back and launched onto Elijah as Azreal laughed from behind.

"Guys, we're getting a lot of attention you know..we're still in the plaza."

Saoirse quickly stepped in between the 3, trying to stop the 3 idiots from being the biggest joke of the century.

"Let's just head to the forest quickly.."

Azreal quickly composed himself and cleared his throat that had been dry from laughing.

'They should've made it far by now.'

Zaire thought to himself as he stood up.

Next him, the handcuffs originally tied to his legs were now a brown colour, as if it had rotted for a thousand years.

He brought his hands up, looking at it.

'My body's still unused to using divinity.'

Well, it's not like he needed his hands anyway. It'd act as a great way to say that he wasn't planning to escape if he was caught by them too. The only issue is that he won't be able to manifest divinity using his hands, his legs weren't particularly strong either but he could kick if he tried.

'If push comes to shove I'll use the clock.'

Walking to the window, Zaire kicked it open.

He then put his leg over the window, preparing to jump off as he wielded divinity into his eyes
