Jimmy smiled lightly.
"Horus is only responsible for aerial reconnaissance. Or relaying information to you. It won't participate in combat."
"It?" Damon frowned. "Relaying information? Forgive me for saying this, but I don't speak eagle."
"You don't need to."
Damon froze.
"Wait. Wait a second!" He stared at the red eagle. "Was that… was that eagle talking just now? Oh right, what's its name?"
"My name is Horus, Mr. Damon," Horus said calmly.
Damon clutched his head and spun in place twice.
"Ohh, Hor—"
.
.
.
"Huh?"
.
.
.
"Did he just —, What the hell is this thing? A red eagle? That can talk? Are you sure this is an eagle and not some parrot in disguise?"
Seeing Damon completely dumbfounded, a mischievous smile crept onto Jimmy's face.
Finally.
He had managed to shatter Damon's worldview if only once.
A talking red eagle.
Watching Damon spin in circles, Jimmy's lips curled upward.
"Sorry," Damon said after a moment, forcing himself to calm down, "but I still don't approve of Horus joining the operation."
"An eagle like this there probably isn't a second one in the entire country. If it shows up with you, someone is bound to notice."
"And we're operating at night Nighttime…"
"Don't worry, Damon," Jimmy interrupted. "Horus can handle it."
"…Fine. But what exactly can it help with?"
Jimmy took out a helmet that fit perfectly and placed it on Horus's head. He pressed a button.
"Zzz— Sky Eye, Sky Eye. Mic check. Mic check."
"Sky Eye received, Sky Eye received."
Jimmy handed Damon an earpiece.
Damon took it, stunned.
"…Alright. I agree." He exhaled. "That really is one smart eagle."
…
Soon after, Jimmy arrived near Frank's building.
A battered old car slowly rolled into a shadowy alley across the street.
Horus took off first.
The two of them drove up to Frank's building, got out, and pulled a ladder from the back of the car.
"Hey! You can't park here!"
"The hell you talking about?" Damon snapped. "Your company called us to fix the network. If I can't park here, where the hell do you want me to park?"
Damon looked up his face marked with tire-track tattoos and a thick beard. Behind him, Jimmy was covered head to toe in matte black, head lowered, keeping a low profile.
"Oh… right. But nobody told me the network was having issues."
"You want me to ask the supervisor?"
"Are you stupid?" Damon scoffed. "Do you even know what the supervisors are doing right now?"
"Then they—"
"Hmph. I don't care." Damon waved dismissively. "Everything's fine outside. You guys fend for yourselves."
With that, Damon hoisted the ladder and climbed to the external transmitter. He pretended to inspect it for a moment, then discreetly placed a bomb from his toolbox inside.
The explosive wasn't powerful, but destroying the transmitter wouldn't be a problem.
After climbing down, he shot Frank's gang members an arrogant look and walked back toward the car.
While their line of sight was blocked by the vehicle, Jimmy slipped a suitcase into the sewer opening near the building's entrance.
This device was a signal jammer.
Another, smaller one was carried by Horus and dropped onto the rooftop.
With a single press of a button later, the entire area's signal would be cut off.
The only downside—
It could be activated remotely, but shutting it down required manual operation. Once the jammer was active, it even blocked its own remote signal.
A truly ruthless piece of equipment.
Across the entire area, aside from Jimmy's specialized communication device, almost everything would be silenced.
The car drove away.
The few gang members guarding the area didn't dare provoke the bearded man who looked like trouble incarnate.
They didn't get paid enough to mess with someone like that.
…
Soon, Damon reached the rooftop of the opposite building.
Jimmy wiped off the matte-black paint from his body and changed into his combat gear.
"Big Daddy in position," Damon said into the comm. "Do you read me?"
"Sky Eye has completed the task and is in position."
"Wolverine is ready, standing by."
"Operation code name: Close the Door and Beat the Dog. Begin."
"Wolverine, received."
"Sky Eye, received."
…
Using the shadows at the corner, Jimmy moved closer while holding the signal jammer's remote in his hand.
"Wolverine in position, Big Daddy~ close the door."
"Received."
"Boom! Bzzz~ Crackle!"
The bomb inside the transmission device detonated, sparks bursting out like a short circuit.
"Wolverine, close the door."
"Received."
Jimmy pressed the remote.
Inside the sewer, the large jammer box suddenly lit up. At the same time, the smaller device Horus had dropped on the rooftop began flashing red.
Jimmy stored the remote inside the [Horadric Cube], then dashed forward while speaking calmly.
"Checking if the door is sealed."
On the rooftop, Damon took out his phone. The signal indicator showed a large X.
"The door is sealed."
…
Chaos erupted at the entrance.
"What the hell did those repairmen do just now? Call them."
"I have no signal. Use yours."
"Mine's dead too."
"Go inside and use the front desk phone, idiot."
"You're the idiot. Do you even know what just exploded? That thing was the main line. If landlines still work, that would be a miracle."
…
They did not have time to argue further.
Jimmy had already appeared beside them.
The light of the Blade flashed once.
Two men were instantly cut apart into four pieces.
And then, there was no "then".
The remaining thugs at the entrance only saw a streak of white light. In that instant, they saw their great-grandmothers smiling at them.
Crash!
Glass shattered as gunfire erupted. Several people in the lobby were physically sent on their final journey.
Jimmy sheathed his blade and headed straight for the elevator shaft. He forcibly pried open the doors.
One slash!
The steel cables were severed.
From above, the elevator came crashing down amid screams.
Jimmy covered his ears.
Boom!
"Tsk. Disaster avoided. What a tragedy."
After commenting casually, he pulled the pin on a high-explosive grenade and tossed it down.
Boom!
Real men never look back at explosions.
Another grenade flew into the power room. The entire building went dark.
Emergency lights glowed green.
Jimmy put on his night vision goggles and began advancing upward.
Outside, Big Daddy monitored the interior through thermal imaging, calmly reporting the remaining targets.
On the fourteenth floor, Jimmy was running low on ammunition. He had no choice but to pick up enemy weapons.
"Biubiubiu." These guns felt like water pistols.
Definitely bringing more ammo next time, Jimmy thought, shaking his head.
Upstairs, Frank was trembling uncontrollably.
Joe listened to the approaching gunfire, his heart pounding.
Higant was still trying to call the police.
After exhausting every method and failing to connect, he finally snapped, pulled out his gun, and pointed it at Frank.
"This is all because of you."
"All because of you."
