Chapter 5: THE HUNT GETS PERSONAL
[FULL-PAGE OPENING PANEL]
The city wakes slowly, unaware. Neon flickers through the rain-streaked skyline.
Helicopters circle. Gunfire echoes from alleys.
NARRATION (Kael):
Citywide carnage. My personal touch.
They send hunters. I send nightmares.
[VERTICAL PANELS – THE HUNTERS REASSEMBLE]

— LACE limps along rooftops, sniper rifle in hand.
— BONESAW twirls a new cleaver.
— MERCY mixes poison vials.
— ASH loads automatic pistols.
— NULL hacks into traffic cameras, drones scanning for Kael.
VICER:
"He survived last time… we adapt."
NARRATION (Kael):
Adaptation? Cute.
[MEDIUM PANEL – KAEL'S POV]
Kael crouches in the shadows of a construction site.
Rusted beams, loose cables, wet concrete. Perfect.
KAEL (to reader):
"Citywide chaos is like cooking: layers, heat, and a pinch of madness."
He loads bullets, tapes knives to his arms.
[ACTION PANEL – ROOFTOP AMBUSH]
— Kael drops from a crane, taking out ASH midair.
— LACE fires from a building; Kael swings a beam, deflects a bullet, knocks her off the ledge.
— VICER charges, heavy armor gleaming. Kael rolls, grabs a pipe, smashes VICER's knee.
SFX:
CRUNCH
BANG
SHHH-CH
NARRATION (Kael):
One at a time? Boring.
Citywide? Art.
[FLASHBACK PANEL – KAEL'S TRAINING]
— Young Kael dodging blades, crawling under wires, enduring chemical pain.
— A masked figure whispers: "Strength isn't enough. Outthink. Outlast. Outlive."
NARRATION:
Lessons learned. Pain remembered.
[MID-PANEL – RIVAL APPEARS]
Kael flips, lands, only to face the masked rival from Chapter 4.
RIVAL:
"You've made it personal. I like that."
KAEL:
"Finally someone appreciates my work ethic."
They clash: fists, knives, and bullets intertwine. Sparks fly from steel beams.
[FULL-PAGE PANEL – CITY CHAOS]
— Kael battles VICER in the street; cars explode.
— BONESAW lunges at Kael from above; Kael flips him into a construction crane.
— MERCY sprays poison into traffic; Kael tears a metal grate off, redirecting it.
NARRATION (Kael):
Chaos is symphony. Blood, the melody.
[CLOSE PANEL – INNER MONOLOGUE]
Kael wipes blood from his visor.
KAEL (to reader):
"You ever wonder why monsters always get sequels?
Because people love the thrill.
I give them a trilogy in one night."
[FLASHBACK PANEL – RIVAL CONNECTION]
— Young Kael strapped to a table.
— The rival watches from behind glass.
— A faint memory: laughter. Whispered words:
"Survive this, and you'll know me someday."
NARRATION (Kael):
The ghost I thought I left behind… is alive. And armed.
[EXTENDED COMBAT SEQUENCE – CINEMATIC STYLE]
— Kael grabs a cable, swings across a streetlight, crashing into BONESAW.
— VICER lunges with a sledgehammer; Kael rolls, embedding a knife into his shoulder.
— LACE fires sniper rounds; Kael catches one midair, throws it back.
NARRATION (Kael):
Pain? Temporary. Glory? Permanent.
[HUMOR PANEL – FOURTH WALL BREAK]
Kael ducks behind a flaming dumpster, guns smoking.
KAEL:
"Fun fact: chaos is my cardio.
Also, my therapist hates me."
[CLIMAX PANEL – RIVAL FACE-OFF]
Kael and the rival stand among debris, rain pouring, fire reflecting in their visors.
RIVAL:
"You think you survived the past.
You're wrong. I am your past."
Kael smirks under the helmet.
KAEL:
"Well… hello again, nightmare."
They charge. Steel and bullets collide, sparks flying, cityscape burning around them.
[ENDING PANEL – CLIFFHANGER]
Kael stands alone atop a skyscraper, rain streaking across bloodied armor.
Below: the city smolders, chaos reigning.
NARRATION (Kael):
Some ghosts come back with weapons.
Mine came with a grudge.
