Chapter 98 - Chapter 98: The Path of Fury

Chapter 98: The Path of Fury

A day later, well-prepared, Jake began his dimension-hopping journey.

He wanted an unrestricted base where he could conduct any experiments, free from the constraints of society or government. Such a base was clearly unsuitable for a world where human social order still existed.

Therefore, apocalyptic movie worlds became his choice.

There were many zombie movies, but the thought of constantly dealing with zombies was too much trouble, so all zombie movies were immediately ruled out.

A world destroyed, or where humanity was on the verge of extinction, became his preferred option.

"2012" was one of Jake's choices. The entire Earth's crust shifted, human society was destroyed, and only a few hundred thousand people remained on Earth.

The problem was that he would have to participate in the escape during 2012, even though he felt that surviving to the end wouldn't be too difficult.

Watching countless humans being swallowed by the apocalypse, hearing the cries of despair from the world—Jake, even if he didn't deny he wasn't a good person, still didn't want to witness it all firsthand.

There were many movies of this type, but he wasn't a savior, nor did he want to experience every story in these worlds.

Mad Max: Fury Road was the world he had carefully considered for his next destination.

The world had crumbled, human civilization was gone.

It was a world of blood and fire, where everyone had to fight brutally for survival.

In the endless, desolate desert, two escaped rebels might bring order to this world.

Max, a taciturn man, lost his family in the chaos and now only sought peace.

Furiosa, a strong woman who let her actions speak for themselves, believed that crossing the desert to return to her childhood home was the only way to survive.

When the two met, a highway battle erupted.

This was a wasteland world where human governance had collapsed.

A classic muscle car, loaded with ample ammunition, appeared instantly under Jake's control.

"What a terrible place," he muttered.

When the vehicle materialized with Jake, they had arrived in the world of Mad Max.

Here, desolation reigned, and billowing sandstorms quickly covered the clean, gleaming black car with a layer of dust.

"Maybe I should have brought my tank?" But this was just a fleeting thought. The tank's interior space was small, and the ride comfort was terrible. In comparison, the Black Beauty was the perfect combination of comfort and combat power.

Don't underestimate this car; its off-road capabilities were faster than most muscle cars, and it was equipped with two heavy machine guns firing thousands of rounds per minute, flamethrowers, and missiles—a veritable mini-armory.

The wheels left long tracks on the dry yellow sand as it sped forward.

A multi-headed lizard with a genetic mutation couldn't escape and was crushed under the wheels. However, once the car was far enough away, the lizard sprang out of the sand, shaking its two heads.

Jake drove, looking at the rolling yellow sand. The scenery was too monotonous, and although he felt a little restless, the air conditioning in the car and the occasional sip of Dr. Simms's special energy drink made him feel quite comfortable.

After driving at full speed for 30 minutes, he finally saw a small settlement billowing smoke—apparently the Gas Town from the movie, which he used to pinpoint his location.

In this movie, three factions exist: Gas Town, the Bullet Farm, and the territory ruled by the film's main antagonist, Immortan Joe.

These three factions cooperate yet check each other, each controlling the three most urgently needed resources in this scenario: gasoline, bullets, and water.

Originally, there were three previous installments of this movie franchise, but Jake really didn't want to go there, even if the events of those worlds would automatically be added if he went.

Turning the car around, Jake quickly drove in another direction from Gas Town.

This was a post-apocalyptic world from the movie, where the world's political order had collapsed. However, what made all the viewers envious and jealous was that Immortan Joe, an ugly, old man suffering from a genetic disease, actually controlled the most important resource in this post-apocalyptic world: water!

Not only that, he also had a harem of five beautiful women!

This was the epitome of a winner in life, especially imagining Immortan Joe's disgusting, tumor-covered body with those beautiful women. Jake felt a surge of envy and revulsion, so he added the old guy to his kill list.

The plot begins with the women, unwilling to accept Joe's control, conspiring with his commander, Furiosa, to escape during a routine transaction with other factions.

The unfortunate protagonist, Max, is also caught in the crossfire.

The plot itself isn't particularly complex, as it's primarily a visually stunning post-apocalyptic highway chase.

However, after helping the women defeat Immortan Joe, the protagonist doesn't immediately seize power but continues his journey. Jake had his thoughts on this.

Since there were several more films in the franchise, what would happen if the protagonist settled down as a local warlord? It's better for him to remain the wandering hero.

But Jake came to this world specifically for this wasteland, and even if new film series emerge, he won't merge the timelines to create trouble for himself.

In this world, it's not a movie where you can succeed just by knowing the plot. Once you're here, you'll understand that strength is the most important thing.

Eighty percent of the movie's plot takes place in vehicles, and any so-called plot advantage is completely useless in this world.

Even if you call out the male protagonist's name, all you'll get is a bullet.

After driving for nearly an hour through the desolate desert world, the classically elegant Black Beauty was also covered with the colors of the wasteland.

He soon arrived near the area of Immortan Joe's stronghold.

It was a very peculiar place, with several huge rock formations resembling pillars forming the main landscape.

Faint green vegetation peeked out from the mountaintops, a particularly precious sight in this post-apocalyptic world.

As territory, it had no walls, extremely simple defenses, with only the entrance area filled with half-dead refugees, emaciated, barely distinguishable from the walking dead in appearance.

In fact, they could be considered the walking dead; if they were truly starving, they would resort to cannibalism.

These people were slaves kept by Immortan Joe. They were not the main fighting force, and they couldn't contribute anything productive at all. All they could do was use their bodies to block invaders.

No matter who you were, if you encountered thousands upon thousands of slaves who were so hungry they were resorting to cannibalism, you were in serious trouble.

Slaves were not within Jake's concern, even if he successfully overthrew Immortan Joe's rule.

The people who could truly fight for Joe, and who could currently cause Jake trouble, were a group of fanatics covered in white paint, known as War Boys.

Immortan Joe's location was easy to pinpoint; Jake quickly used his binoculars to locate the cave entrance about three hundred feet above the ground on the rock formation.
