Chapter 88 - Chapter 88: Suppressing Cthulhu

"Doesn't Cthulhu slumber in R'lyeh? Why appear in my dream?" Lancelot wondered, confused.

He got up and poured himself a glass of wine.

Then he saw the statue of the Seven on the table.

"Huh? Why have all the faces on the statue turned into octopus heads? And one of them looks exactly like Cthulhu? Was Margaery's nightmare caused by this statue?"

"And was my nightmare caused by it too?"

"Something like this... better destroy it!"

Lancelot summoned the Red Charcoal Fire Dragon Steed and ordered it to breathe fire on the statue.

But the flames only coated the statue in a layer of black soot; they couldn't destroy it.

Lancelot realized things were getting even weirder.

"If I can't destroy it, I have to put it somewhere safe."

While it was still dark before dawn, Lancelot went alone into the deep forest, dug a deep pit, buried the statue, and planted a cross on top.

"Even if you really are Cthulhu, so what? Let Jehovah suppress you! Hallelujah! Hallelujah!" Lancelot sang a hymn.

After daybreak, Lancelot transplanted some rose bushes from elsewhere and planted them next to the cross.

In Lancelot's past life, the British believed that roses sprang from the blood of Jesus when he was pierced by the Spear of Longinus.

"Strange statue, stay buried here forever!" Lancelot declared. Having said that, he returned to King's Landing.

However, just as Lancelot returned to the Red Keep, he heard Hrakkar roaring in anger.

"What's going on?" Lancelot hurried back to his quarters, only to find the Red Viper, Oberyn Martell, and his men surrounding Hrakkar.

They had bows drawn and arrows nocked, seemingly ready to kill him.

"What are you doing? Stop it!" Lancelot used his Lion's Roar.

Seeing Lancelot arrive, the Red Viper's face showed intense anger.

"Lancelot, your lion ate my daughter! I want his life in exchange," Oberyn Martell demanded.

"What? Impossible! What proof do you have that he ate your daughter?" Lancelot asked.

"The corpse is the proof!" Oberyn pointed to the mutilated chunks of flesh on the ground.

Lancelot's expression changed several times before returning to calm.

"Your bastard daughter wasn't a good person anyway. She did much evil and had a viper's heart. One less of her counts as accumulating good karma," Lancelot retorted.

In the original books, the Dornishmen plotted to crown Myrcella to contest the Iron Throne, leading to the death of a Kingsguard, and Myrcella herself was slashed in the face, losing an ear and nearly her life.

And in the show, Myrcella suffered an even worse fate, poisoned directly by the Red Viper's paramour and bastard daughters.

"What did you say? Lancelot, do you dare duel me? I demand a trial by combat," Oberyn Martell challenged.

"Bring it on! I'm not afraid of you!"

Lancelot already knew Oberyn Martell's stats.

Name: Oberyn Martell

Identity: Noble

Class: Knight, Mercenary, Assassin, Maester

Strength: 23

Speed: 24

Intelligence: 24

Spirit: 15

Magic: 14

Talent: Spear King of Dorne. His spear skills are among the best in all Westeros; currently, no one wields a spear better than him.

Oberyn's current stats were roughly on par with Jaime's, but the man specialized in using poison. Lancelot needed to be prepared.

He couldn't let Oberyn's weapon break his skin during the duel, or even if he won, he wouldn't survive.

The duel between Lancelot and Oberyn caused a huge stir, placing them at the center of attention in King's Landing.

This was good for Lancelot; his popularity points were rising rapidly.

Tyrion, Jaime, and Joffrey all came to visit Lancelot.

"Lancelot, why did you provoke that viper? He's notoriously difficult to deal with," Jaime looked at Lancelot with disappointment.

"Indeed. Your mount ate his daughter; he won't rest until one of you is dead," Tyrion added.

"How about we let someone else fight for you? What about the Hound?" Joffrey suggested. He had great confidence in the Hound's strength.

Lancelot shook his head.

"Grandfather was here earlier. He wanted the Mountain to fight for me, but I refused."

"Why? If it were the Mountain, there would be absolutely no problem," Jaime said.

He had fought alongside the Mountain on the battlefield and knew that once unleashed, the Mountain was like an unstoppable tank. His oppressive presence on the battlefield was unmatched by anyone else, even Robert.

"This is a chance to steal the spotlight; how can I miss it?" Lancelot said.

"But this is a critical moment. Dorne is part of the Seven Kingdoms too. If something happens to you or Oberyn, can the alliance still be formed smoothly?" Tyrion worried.

"I haven't met Prince Doran, but I know he is a cautious man and a lover of peace. We can send him a letter so he's mentally prepared beforehand," Lancelot suggested.

"You mean to say you're confident you can defeat the Red Viper head-on? Even I don't have that confidence. Where does yours come from?" Jaime asked.

"Everything comes from strength! From strength! Hahaha!" Lancelot laughed.

"Then before the official match, we'll give you extra training, Lancelot," Jaime said.

"We? Who else besides you?" Lancelot asked.

"You'll find out when the time comes," Jaime grinned.

Oberyn Martell rested in one of Littlefinger's brothels, his paramour and three daughters watching over him.

"I need to conserve my strength during this time to avenge Obara," Oberyn said.

"I don't doubt you can kill Lancelot, but if we do this, will Tywin and Jaime Lannister stay silent and pretend nothing happened?" his paramour asked.

"Actually, it's Obara's own fault for provoking that big lion. When the lion ignored her, she actually tried to poison it," the paramour added.

"In other words, in a few days, not only will Lancelot die, but his mount will also accompany Obara in death, yes?" Oberyn said.

Hrakkar had been curled up since yesterday, unmoving.

Lancelot hadn't checked on him because of his training.

During this period, Lancelot underwent intensive training with Jaime, Barristan, and the Hound. Later, Syrio, Loras, and Garlan also joined in.

Facing six of the world's top fighters alone, Lancelot's strength improved rapidly with their sparring. His stats had now reached this level:

Name: Lancelot Lannister

Identity: Noble

Class: Knight

Strength: 25

Speed: 25

Intelligence: 25

Magic: 25

Spirit: 25

Talent: Warg, Mage, Dreamwalker.
