"This is… the Tenseigan, an eye on the same level as the Sage of Six Paths!"
Hizashi's hand trembled as he touched his eyelids.
Warm blood slid through his fingers, yet his vision had never been clearer. He could even see threads of chakra drifting through the air.
Hiashi also felt disbelief. These eyes were completely different from the Byakugan they had always taken pride in.
Wen Lan folded his arms and watched them calmly.
"Take your time to feel it. Like the Rinnegan, the Tenseigan grants different ocular abilities."
Hiashi closed his eyes to sense the power, then opened them again.
"I can control attraction and repulsion. And I possess the ability to place chakra into puppets, allowing them to move independently."
Hizashi felt the power surging within him and spoke slowly:
"I can sense that I can activate some kind of chakra mode… and I can absorb an enemy's chakra."
Wen Lan nodded slightly.
Looks like they've only obtained part of the Tenseigan's power.
Then he looked at Hizashi.
"Can you manipulate Yin–Yang Release?"
Hizashi did not answer immediately. He focused inward for a moment, then shook his head.
"No."
Wen Lan sighed lightly.
"I really don't know whether it's a talent issue or a bloodline issue. Neither of you inherited the technique called Golden Wheel Reincarnation Explosion."
"Golden Wheel Reincarnation Explosion?" Hiashi and Hizashi asked in confusion.
"It's one of the Tenseigan's techniques," Wen Lan explained.
"The Tenseigan can form several green chakra spheres. Those spheres merge into a beam of light—a sword of energy—with immense destructive power. It can slice a planet in half instantly."
"Slice a planet?!"
This time, not only the Hyūga brothers but even Orochimaru widened his eyes.
"Yes. Slice a planet," Wen Lan said with a small nod.
"In terms of raw destructive power, the Tenseigan surpasses the Rinnegan. Unfortunately, neither of you inherited that ability."
Hizashi lowered his head and stared at his palm, the blood not yet dry. Determination burned in his eyes.
Hiashi, however, remained calm and smiled faintly.
"We have already reached a height that even our ancestors never attained. Even without that technique, I am satisfied."
Hizashi paused when he heard that, then his expression softened with acceptance.
After years in the branch family, he had long understood a truth:
What is meant for you will be yours.
What is not—no matter how hard you grasp—will never stay.
Hiashi bowed deeply to Wen Lan.
"Thank you, Assistant."
This time it was a full ninety-degree bow, completely sincere.
Wen Lan quickly stopped him.
"You're going to be my father-in-law in the future. That kind of formality isn't appropriate."
Hiashi froze for a moment, then smiled.
"You're right. I almost forgot."
After exchanging a few words, the brothers left.
They walked a long distance before stopping. Turning back, they looked toward the laboratory—but its outline was no longer visible.
Hizashi sighed.
"From now on, the fate of the Hyūga clan rests in Wen Lan's hands."
Hiashi nodded gently.
Neither of them had asked for more of that blood. They understood that the power never truly belonged to the Hyūga clan. Forcing the matter would only bring disaster.
The fact that Wen Lan had allowed them to evolve into the Tenseigan was already due to their loyalty to the Hokage's faction and their shared village ties.
Inside the laboratory, Wen Lan turned to Orochimaru.
"How is Kimimaro's condition?"
"It's still deteriorating," Orochimaru replied.
"Recently, the pain has become so severe that he can't sleep properly. After extracting roughly thirty more high-purity samples from his blood, I plan to inject your blood into him."
Wen Lan was not surprised.
Orochimaru was someone who understood limits. The fact that he had trained so many capable subordinates—and that almost none had betrayed him except Sasuke—proved his judgment.
Take the Sound Four, for example. Their strength had been formidable. Losing to the Konoha rookies had largely been a matter of plot circumstances.
"Alright. You're the expert in this field. I'll follow your lead," Wen Lan said with a nod.
For someone as loyal as Kimimaro, it would be a shame to let him die.
Loyalty was never considered a burden. People valued it.
When Wen Lan stepped out of the laboratory, snow had begun to fall.
Snowflakes landed on his shoulders and melted into tiny droplets.
"It's snowing…" he murmured, then continued walking.
His footsteps were light, as if afraid to disturb the brief quiet.
The snow fell heavier and heavier, gradually covering his tracks and erasing traces of the past.
"You're the daughter of the Hyūga clan, right? Show us your Byakugan!"
"If you don't want to, then stop looking at us!"
"Those eyes are so creepy!"
"You're basically a monster!"
"You're a white-eyed monster!"
"Hey! Stop bullying her!"
"Idiot! Picking on a girl—come fight me instead!"
As Wen Lan walked, he heard children shouting in the distance. He paused.
Frowning slightly, he walked toward the noise.
He saw six children standing there.
On the far left stood a small girl with her head lowered. Her hands clutched the hem of her dress tightly. She had blue hair and pale eyes filled with tears, clearly struggling not to cry.
In the middle were three boys glaring defiantly at the two boys on the far right.
And those two boys were—
Naruto and Sasuke.
Because of the close relationship between their families, the two had already become good friends even before entering the Ninja Academy.
One was still loud and carefree, shouting every day about becoming Hokage.
The other was a little show-off, constantly copying Fugaku's stern expression.
Wen Lan stood quietly in the snow, observing the scene.
"Tch, that's the Hokage's son… and someone from the Uchiha clan," one boy muttered, a trace of fear in his eyes.
"So what? Our Tsukikage clan isn't afraid!"
The boy in the middle, missing one tooth, retorted stubbornly.
"My dad said our clan is the strongest ninja clan in Konoha!"
"Exactly! One relies on being the Hokage's son, the other relies on being related to the Assistant. What's so impressive about that?"
Sasuke's face instantly darkened. He stared coldly at the three boys.
"First, the person you were bullying—Hinata—is Assistant Wen Lan's fiancée.
Second, the Uchiha clan doesn't need to rely on anyone.
I am Uchiha Sasuke."
"Enough talking, Sasuke! Let's beat them up!"
Naruto roared and charged forward immediately, his fist slicing through the air straight toward the other boy's face.
